The part about putting the eggs on their back: that could be why if you put an egg on a moss block it hatches faster, because it's parent would put it on their moss-covered back and the feeling that they need to hatch faster because they're on the move.

This was amazing, I hope we get to know more about the sniffer by Mojang themselves.

I like to think that instead of this, they were so humble and kind that they gave away all their food to the others in need and starved to death

I think Sniffers had the "Capybara effect" they were simply vibin' so they no one messed with them, Or maybe they thought since they were brightly coloured they were poisonous, But in the end it was their downfall as since sniffers were so friendly players could easily hunt them.
