I have a love hate relationship with Thracia. I love its weird mechanics, even the unbalanced ones, but I find its maps to range from inoffensive but forgettable to downright awful, with few exceptions. I've often wished for a way to play with thracia mechanics but on better maps...and well, Bells of Byelen Delivers on This Promise. But this is so much more than a simple Thracia clone...
In Romhack Recommendations, I talk about Romhacks I enjoyed, go over the features I enjoyed about them, and try to give a general review/recommendation as to what to expect if you choose to play them. Remember that all these hacks are made for free by members of the community who are passionate enough to spend tons of time working, so even if you personally do not like a specific hack, be kind in your criticism.

The thing I adore most about FE4 and FE5 are their art direction. I love seeing hacks use the muted and earthy palette.

Thracia 777 finally came out. Shoving being infantry exclusive is geniunally brilliant. Love the idea of it being the counterpart to mounted's Canto. Idk how I feel about the fatigue "buff" but I always thought the idea of the system encouraging you to use more of your army interesting. Anyways - looking forward to 0% growths Bells.

I adore Bells. Some of the most unique map concepts I've ever seen like the Cromar map with an optional 3v3 arena gauntlet, a "seize then escape" map, one where you have to capture an escaping princess, a big "open-world" one where you're trying to gather help from a bunch of different factions and have to do a bunch of side quests to win their approval; those are some of the big highlights but there's plenty of others, too. The telephone nature of the hack gives me a strong vibe that almost every chapter wants to do something really cool and memorable. And somehow, despite being a telephone, the story mostly comes together in a really satisfying way.

Honestly, this hack might top Vision Quest for my favorite FE romhack of all time. I love Thracia 776, and seeing it expanded into a game that takes its best aspects and mixes it with some of the other best aspects of the FE franchise was incredible to playthrough twice (and probably a third time in the near future). My only gripes with the game was, as you mentioned, support bonuses taken from 3H felt somewhat useless, and I agree that the “certain plot point” in the middle of the game that would have caused a few units to potentially leave should have been concluded within the game rather than in the character endings. Overall, those are minor nitpicks for a game I adore. Also Awa x Delilah is probably one of my favorite supports I’ve seen in quite awhile.

This is my favorite rom hack i've ever played. I love how replayable it is with all the different kinds of units available. I haven't read all the supports but so many of them are amazing. Also Mish supremacy

I just finished this game yesterday as my 2nd fe rom hack (the first being illusory dungeon) by recommendation from a friend Definitely a tremendously difficult experience coming from someone whos never ventured into Lunatic before, but also some of the most fun ive had with a Fire Emblem game. By the end, my friend and i compared armies and they were entirely different, if thats any credence toward the point of unit diversity Great review!

Really sold me on the new and old mechanics didn't watch the story section don't want to be spoiled. Not touching that fog of war character nope.

I am currently playing for the first time thracia 776 (using savestates and such because i just cannot bring myself to play the way it is intended) and i love nothing more than the growth scrolls, build and movement growths, vigor and pcc, just looking that this hack have those, i got convinced to play. Ah, and my beloved capture (i don't really like fatigue tho, i just cannot like it in anyway even if it is fair) Edit: allright so this game makes exceptions for talk events and that, something that thracia is a literal troll with, i don't wanna miss out on anything because i don't replay games so that is pretty neat

I know its not the focus of the video but what the fuck is Ryan Malis talking about You only have 2 sword users, one being an unkillable prepromote on the other hand you have 3 axe users , a lance cav and an archer.

@@darthr0xas363 that's not even true of rev though. You have a sword/stone user, a knife user, and a lance user, and face mostly sword enemies... So I'm not even sure if there is a single chapter in fe that fits that description

Been enjoying this hack quite alot so far. The only thing i dont entirely like is the amount of text at times. Sometimes there's so much but I felt like little was added. Also, an 80% to hit feels more like 65% but it's been a very great hack so far.

This game is awesome. Just as an example of the kind of stuff this game cooks up, you get a dancer halfway through the game with 3 move stars. 11/10 unit. Still gotta watch out for fatigue though.

Is the all sword units against all lance enemies a meme? I havent played Thracia much and not in awhile but pretty sure the first map is the one in the village taken over and you get like 4 axe units, 2 sword units, a lance unit, and a bow unit to start with.

My theory ia they thought of ch4 which is indoor so all your units have swords and all the enemies are lance soldiers until the final room

@@DaniDoyle yeah I think that is the chapter I mean where you lose everyone except Leif and Lifis. All of your units besides the thieves can one round them pretty much though the wta doesn't matter.

1. It's a romhack of a GBA game. Take a wild guess. 2. Download the UPS file from the link in the description, patch it to vanilla US FE8 rom. If you don't know how to do that, look it up.

0:44 Actually you have Finn, Osian, Halvan, Dagdar and Marty who are not sword units. Litterally everyone but Eyvel and Leif. I love BoB too ! It's a great game.

FE5's first chapter does NOT give you all sword users (2 sword, 1 lance, 1 bow, 4 AXEMEN SMFH, just another reason to stay off twitter as it's filled with idiots lmao), and the stats on the lance-wielding enemy soldiers don't really make them much of a threat. Add in that weapon triangle is only 5%, and yeah you were really grasping at straws with that opening argument. All good though, good to learn about a cool romhack. I feel you should put the name of the romhack in the title, so more people can find this when searching and just in general know what the heck this video is about right away.
