Forget the legal side of this. MORALLY ea/respawn are way worse than anything he has done. Between these 300+ dollar "events", the crazy amount of gambling mechanics that are going to lead to a lot of people with money problems growing up, them giving us less actual content a year but asking more and more money. I think one big thing people overlook is what this kind of hack means. This guy has done this for "shits n giggles" but imagine what someone who wants money or computers for botnets, every apex player is at risk. So yeah find this dude but I think EA really ought to look at the bigger issue here.

Regardless, He should be banned from apex but nothing more than that. Cheating is bad, but it should not be illeagal to cheat in a video game. A case could be made for getting other people banned and ruining their career. Anyway im actually kinda interested what he will come up with next.

Respawn should offer him a job on the tech side of Apex, he’s proven he has the skill. That way they are able to resolve the problem, figure out how he was able to exploit code, and avoid any negative backlash from trying to go after this kid through the Russian/Belarusian court system. Would reflect well on the company, and would reach a beneficial solution for all parties, including the players

This is the aftermath of carelessness Titanfall experienced - the only reason apex isn’t hacked into oblivion is cause of how popular it is. I truly believe(blissful ignorance) that the hackers could shut the game down if they wanted to risk their freedom. Maybe then we’d see some actual effort in removing cheaters and blocking hacks

If anything Destroyer helped wake EA up like you have a good game that’s so vulnerable that I can hack a huge event like, I don’t see him as a villain but more of an antihero as yes what he did was bad but he got his point across and got work done no matter what the consequences were

I thought about buying the 20 apex packs but then respawn showed how temporary our possesions in the game is. Seeing how my badges get removed, how my skins get removed, no way I pay a single cent into this. If I play enough, I buy the battle pass with my remaining credits and build up the credits that way.

I’m glad it happened cheating has always been out of control in this damn game for 20 seasons not to mention the Chronos zen and strike pack.

I haven't been able to play for weeks now. When I get into a game, the audio leaves and eventually my game freezes. The few times this didn't happen I was booted into the main menu after a kill.

4:16 it’s actually quite easy if you have access to the server. All you have to do is edit some tags in a person’s account and change their pack “balance” to whatever number you want. It’s a lot more complicated for multiplayer games, but for games like Risk of Rain 2, there’s a specific line of code that if you edit it you can have all the achievements (including the ones that steam tracks) and unlimited lunar coins.

It does make sense for someone to abuse faults in a system to get them noticed and patched/to have fun I did the same thing at school, I'd access files and run programs that I wasn't supposed to be able to because I knew the technicians could see it and fix it and it was something to do that wasn't work

I hate how like normal hacks arent even remotely handled by apex, and them taking this long to grab destroyer 2009 is a good example of how little they try i been hacked one time and permanently banned, instead of giving me back my account and helping me with the hack (that i ddint even notice until i was banned) they just went radio silent and from what i observed on twitter and reddit a lot of people got permanently banned, so the drop in numbers may even stem from that I made a new account but i lost 3 years worth of investment, i bet a lot of people wont start from zero if they get perma banned

at least one of the player got hacked, because of the wrong configuration of his router. He install Malewarebyte for antivirus scan and the it show up a incoming connection, they normale would blocked by the router. Instead of only forward the ports needed from the game, he forwarded all traffic to his pc. Thats allow everybody to connect to the services the computer offer, for example network shares.

It blows my mind people aren't more up in arms on this. One major thing not mentioned in this video is after Respawn's statement they replayed the ALGS regional finals in secret. So even after whatever patches they deployed they still were not confident enough to even let the public know when the competition was happening, much less stream it live. If the individual streamers' machines were compromised outside of Apex, I think we'd know that by now to ease peoples' concerns. That's not something that would affect stock prices or anything. So I think the logical conclusion is that there was/is some exploit that allowed this person to install cheats on these peoples' machines through Apex. And if that's true, other people could do far worse with such a vulnerability. And that's why I'd be hesitant to load this game. Not that I'd be worried this guy would target me or anything. Just that you'd end up in a random game with one of these other people who just wants to grab random people's credit card information or whatever.
