Considering going to law school at Baylor. I appreciate a truthful look at Baylor. I had originally gone to a christian school that had inconsistent and insane covid policies because they received a government grant. I want to know the good and bad of Baylor and I thank you for making these videos.

This was such good insight into these topics! 😁😁😁 Thanks so much for bringing to light things that many people would not talk about (like inconsistent policies and things that just don’t make sense logically). So sorry for your experiences with rude people! You are such a kind person and a hard worker. As always it was a pleasure to get to hang out with you for this video! Love these videos so much!!!! Nothing but facts!! I'm an introvert and I have a lot of social anxiety, it's hard for me to go out and do things by myself and especially make friends. I definitely feel like I need to get out of my room more, find my people, explore Waco, all the things. When people ask why I came to Baylor, I don't really know what to say, it was just an inexplicable God thing. It's funny because when I came to visit, I could see God everywhere, now I feel like I'm really having to search for Him and other Christians (and I haven't had much luck). My experience in the past few weeks has been kind of disappointing, I guess underwhelming, when it comes to socializing and being around other people. I've been to a few organization's meetings and tried to reach out to people, but nothing really sticks. Anyways, thanks for this video and bringing these things to light. No place, person, thing is perfect! If any prospective students are reading this, I LOVE BAYLOR, definitely apply if you're even a little bit interested!! College is a very drastic change and insight into the "real world", it takes some getting used to, which like all other things, takes time. 💕

All your covid/mask points are spot on! I totally agree that they are catering to both political sides and are doing a bit of virtue signaling. I am a High School Jr. also from California and I am coming to Baylor to do a tour at the end of this month!! I am super excited and very interested to see for myself how they're doing the whole covid thing. Thanks for all of the insight and great tips! :)

hey! just got into baylor a few days ago for biology (BS) on a pre-med track. taking the offer quite seriously because baylor is known to be quite nice for medicine. i can’t help but wonder… is texas really as hot as they make it out to be? i’ve always gravitated a bit more towards the east coast cuz i love snow and i’m not sure how well i would handle the heat. i know california is a little on the nice-weather side too, how have you found it so far?
@HaikaRose
@HaikaRose 2 жыл бұрын
Congrats on getting into Baylor !! And good question ! I LOVEEE heat, like I thrive in it !! So coming from CA to TX wasn’t TOO dramatic of a change, except I have never dealt with humidity before 😭 so that was an adjustment. Other than that, yes it does get hot here in the summer... not like ARIZONA HOT haha but pretty close ! Be prepared for sticky weather... but to me, what makes it all worth it is that the NIGHTS are such a nice warm temperature when it “cools down” 😍! So yes I would be aware of those things ! Thank you so much for watching ❤️

@@HaikaRose omg no humid weather and i don’t go well. anything for a good education though! thanks for the reply Haika! 😊😊 oh also another SUUUUPER important question, ive applied for financial aid now that i got in and know that it won’t hinder with my admissions decision. my financial need is a little… well… big. i need at least 50% financial support from baylor. so i was thinking, is there a possibility that they could rescind their offer after seeing this requirement, in case they aren’t able to fund me that much?
@HaikaRose
@HaikaRose 2 жыл бұрын
@@riddhigupta5155 this is a good question that I wish I could give a good answer to but I’m not entirely sure !! I did everything I could to appeal their original scholarship offer they gave me and it worked to an extent haha 😭 I would try to appeal if they don’t give you enough, but if they are unable to, I wouldn’t think they would rescind their original offer. However your best bet is to keep in touch with the financial aid office and asking them these questions by emailing or calling them ! I hope this helps !! ❤️❤️

just going to speak on the ~old~ vaccination policy as a fellow baylor student.. while i have different views than you on pretty much everything, i have always said what you have said about baylor’s covid policies and their performative nature. as far as the vaccination policy goes, the overall purpose of the mandatory vaccinations was important for the student body, not for people similar to you, who actively chose to be unvaccinated, but more so was important for students who are so immunocompromised that they are unable to be vaccinated due to their own health conditions. so why yes, MOST of the unvaccinated chose to be so, others had no choice whatsoever. that was also the point behind the mask mandate, which we both know has now been lifted essentially, but for more info/ a different perspective on that, you can go read the lariat’s article about how baylor’s policies are effecting their disabled student population.
@HaikaRose
@HaikaRose 2 жыл бұрын
This was a very insightful comment, thank you for sharing this and thank you for listening! And yes I do plan to read that article VERY soon 😁! I’m glad we can agree on the performative nature of the policies, as it doesn’t help ANYONE involved and is therefore extremely ineffective across the entirety of this campus! I appreciate your comment! May God bless you!
@HaikaRose
@HaikaRose 2 жыл бұрын
I’m guessing when you said “mandatory vaccinations” you meant “mandatory testing” but while I can understand the logic of protecting the immunocompromised who were unable to be vaccinated.... *I know how insensitive this may sound but hear me out* ... for those who are at a high risk, wouldn’t it be in their best interest to choose the “online option” experience to begin with? That it would be their personal responsibility to do what’s best for them to keep them safe instead of being placed in an environment they deem unsafe? Why should the responsibility of a smaller group (who have made a choice) lie at the hands of a larger group who have also made a choice. Doesn’t everyone have a choice that aligns with their best interest in the matter.. and therefore you accept the risks that go with it? It’s a bit unproductive to mandate a policy for the masses for a significantly smaller group, when they make the choice to come here, and are granted the individual responsibility to do what’s best for them. This is not me saying I don’t want them here or that they shouldn’t be here. But the personal choice they make shouldn’t be at the expense of others when they made that choice to begin with. When it comes to health and medical decisions, it has always been that we each have the individual responsibility to do what’s best for ourselves, that the responsibility lies on the individual, not the unknown people around them. I don’t understand why things would be different here. Which is why I believe the mandates should have never lasted as long as they did (especially when they started to become inconsistent and lenient because then it REALLY didn’t make any sense). But again I do plan on reading that article ! Im hoping my question will be answered there as well :)) !!
@km7984
@km7984 2 жыл бұрын
@@HaikaRose yes that’s what i meant lol.. sorry i’m scatter-brained and fully focused on spring break. But yes, online instruction would have been the best option for immunocompromised, however Baylor is no longer offering that option to any students for at least 75% of classes taught (that’s not an official number, just an estimate). The University required all students to return back to campus for in-class instruction. That’s why the “quarantine policy” is stupid. Those students were robbed of their choice for their own best interests. Because they are the minority, Baylor is forcing them to put their own health at risk, for the good of the majority. So how is that any more fair? I understand being frustrated with having to test, because I felt it initially with having to wear masks being that I am fully vaccinated and boostered (that’s not a word but that’s the verb I’m going with), but when I spoke to my own friends who are actually in the minority of being too compromised to be vaccinated but also not being able to receive their education in a safe environment, I understood why they were asking for some sort of support from the University. You should definitely read the article though because Madi Snow does a great job in advocating by using the experiences of others and breaking down the policies that Baylor has failed so miserably to provide support through.

Okay wow that’s good to know about the “online option” ! Thank you once again for your insight on this whole thing ! And for being so respectful about it as well, that’s hard to come across these days, but I’ll definitely check that article out ! May God bless you once again ❤️!
