Big Fat Liar is another 2000's classic movie with Frankie Muniz being the leading actor to sell this movie. Alongside of him we have another heavy hitter from this era with Amanda Bynes tagging along on this journey. Big Fat Liar is a great look into what having a fun script, great performances and smaller scope in vision can create, this little goofball comedy adventure through hollywood film that in the end, may just have you learning a nice lesson.

The guy who you showed comments on at the beginning of the video said he couldn't find a copy of Big Fat Liar. I have it as well as racing stripes and a bunch of early 2000s movies. I was born in 01 and my mother was poor so I'd be home alone for a large majority of my childhood and she'd just buy me movies on discount or at Hollywood video and that's all I did. So now I just have this collection of old movies that I sometimes rewatch whenever I'm in the mood.

I do admire that they didn't have Jason and Kaylee in a romantic subplot. It's rather refreshing to see an early 2000s movie with two friends of the opposite gender who don't end up together. Wish more media would do this.

There's actually some deleted scenes that explain that Marty got his start in show-business by being a rent-a-clown for birthday parties. And that the abuse he suffered from the kids is why he is the way he is, and once he had enough money to start-up Marty Wolf Pictures, he vowed he would never go back. so the fact that he's stuck doing it at the end of the movie is a fitting punishment, while also being the slightest bit tragic.

The thing I remember about this was it was marketed like a Home alone or Problem Child rip off. They really played up the pranks and antics in promotion, but it was one of those rare kid's films that doesn't feel like a condescending kid's film, and like you mention, the two leads are good friends, and though i didn't even notice it as a kid, I agree it's refreshing. If I'm not mistaken the sticky wall is a reference to the movie Blank Check. (the catalyst to that movie was also a kid on a bike being hit by a jerk with a limo and the sticky wall bit was from a montage of the main character hanging out with a limo driver he hired and turned into his only true friend. There's actually a lot of layers to the Blank Check/Big Fat Liar comparisons even though in plot they're so different.)

I remember an uncle of mine who had cable TV on his house and I used to spend the weekends over just to browse to the many channels he had. At that time, around 2002 and 2003, I had a big Frankie Muniz fever due to Malcolm in The Middle and I remember watching a commercial break announcing Big Fat Liar on HBO. This was the early 2000s in Brazil, I didnt had cable tv but my uncle saw the excitment on my face when I first saw that promo that he let me watch the film and it was one of the funniest nights of my childhood. He ordered some pizzas and soda and we watched that film and laugh our assess off! This movie is a great time capsule for me, I can say with all property that I lived the 2000s as a kid and pre-teen very well. I miss those days!

Always loved this film, it was one of those “I see my crush Amanda Bynes on the cover so I want it” purchases, and my grandma had said that she would get it for me from the DVD shop on the high street, and then had to pretend all day that she’d not bought it for me so my cousins wouldn’t feel left out. She got me so good I think I cried when she revealed it and we then proceeded to watch it. And boy was I blown away. Like it was actually a solid movie that didn’t treat the audience like children, like everything, whilst still over the top, felt realistic to a degree. And what a cast, there are so many faces that I see them and this will always be my first memory of them. It’s the perfect movie about what a normal kid like us would do in the word of Hollywood. Love the prop house set. Absolute banger it’s an 8/10 for me.

This is one of those movies that I didn’t expect to still have lines memorized into my adulthood but do. 😂 you’re so right on it being an introduction to Paul giamatti for a whole generation. Was the first movie I was exposed to with him in it and it cultivated a love for his acting early on. Great video 👏🏼

For some reason I remember the characters being in highschool. Always tried to remember this movie but never could. Great trip down memory lane.

This just makes me want to keep mentioning “My Brother & Me” to hopefully be covered one day in an episode.

It is extremely refreshing to see a film where a boy and girl can just be friends!! Sad to see women used just as romantic or sexual devices and I’m glad you touched on it
