In today's video we explore the colourful streets of Cartagena, Colombia. This is a city I have mixed feelings about. For a while I thought I would not want to return to Cartagena. Today's video is about overcoming these feelings and enjoying yourself as a traveller, wherever you go. I do believe, you are what you perceive. 🌞

As a Cartagenero, born and raised, the heat is one of the many reasons I'm in Montreal (wishing summers here were cooler). Street vendors have always been a pain in the butt and are a consequence, among other things, from the over-touristication(?) that started WAAAY long ago. There's plenty of things worth checking outside the old walls in Cartagena, the neighborhood you pointed at (Manga) has some incredible constructions tho' has been modernizing at an absurd pace. I wish I could find a place here in MTL selling fritos that are actually good and not insanely overpriced... have been drooling for a carimañola or arepaehuevo for 3 years now.

Hey Dan. I'm just a hop, skip and a jump over the border in Panama City, Panama at the start of a two-month trip that will then take me back to Colombia to Barranquilla and Pereira (both first time visits for me) and return trips to Cali and Bogota. Panama City's just as hot as Cartagena. Well, it's only my first day here. My take on Cartagena. It's become like Cuzco, Peru. Overtouristed and, as a result, overpriced and more difficult to enjoy. There are so many beautiful Colombian cities that DON'T contain the overly aggressive street hawkers. One visit to Cartagena was fine. Two would be overdoing it.

"terraza municipal" can be translated as " city terrace " ( as you did during the video) or "municipal terrace". Very nice video, by the way.

True but when one is vacationing people want to relax not be pestered but I understand people are trying to make a living but it does take away from the experience as a tourist. I know this therefore I steer clear from places such as Cartegena...tourist trap.
