When I fill a twig stove, I try to remember to lay it on its side, and slide in the wood sideways. You can get more fuel in that way. After erecting the stove, I lay the kindling and tinder on top and start the fire. While the fire is blossoming, a cup of tea goes nicely. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

Have had mine for over 10 yrs now. I love it. The grill will also hold a smaller diam. pot than the 3 legs may handle. I use wood pellets and drizzle hand sanitizer on top to light it. Today, as a matter of fact, I used 1 1/2 cups of pellets w/no additional fuel of any kind and at 42 minutes it still boiled 8 oz. of water. Bestest, cheapest stove you can buy.

Re: sauerkraut, I introduced my foster kids to 'fried sauerkraut' and it was a huge mistake. They REFUSE to use 'raw' sauerkraut now. Any time I use sauerkrautnow, it HAS to be fried or they won't eat it (brats, schnitzel, hot dogs). And I congratulate you on demonstrating the PROPER use of a gasification stove. I can't tell you many 'sheeple' I've had to correct on their MISuse of these; and their faulting of the stove vs their inability to recognize that these are NOT 'twig stoves'.

Hey Mike, I also like the Folger's coffee singles. A helpful hint if you are just making coffee - After pouring out the coffee from the packet, you can fold it into a stirring stick instead of having to get your spoon out. Not a huge deal, but you don't have to wash a coffee packet.

Nice video, Mike, but you really need to dial back a bit on that sugar! Here in the Czech republic, we saute a bit of small-chopped onion before adding the drained sauerkraut. If it isn't already in the tinned kraut, add some caraway seeds to boost the flavour. It makes all the difference. :-)

these gasification thingies are great... I got one a few years back and still use it (from time to time) I got a pan style billy can to go with it. It fits right in there in its original stuff sack. The best way for me to get effecient use out of gasifiers is to bundle your wood and put it all in straight up and down position and I stuff it in as much as possible then I do a top down fire. I never seem to have to add or feed the fire after that and it gasifies quickly. I think its just drawing up more air and getting more direct surface contact that way but who knows.

Great video! Used the stove properly with some actually explanations for the uninformed. I pair this kind of stove with a multitool saw (twigs) and a portable chainsaw for anything wider than my thumb. I have cleared logs on my way instead of jumping over them with the chainsaw, it's great! In case of emergency I have a very good bushcraft base, and i can go on bikepacking/canoeing without worry. Always keep an alcohol stove inside in case things are too wet, or can't find dry wood. Perfect combination where weight and pack size don't matter as much as while hiking. I can save weight from the saws by making my own tent pegs if i wanted to, and store the stove in the MSR stowaway if hiking light, but an alcohol stove will still outperform.
