I've got a 1989 Ford F 150 with 844,000 miles on the original engine. Still runs like new. I'm going for a million. Might need to change the timing belt here soon.

One thing I learned when working in a gas station was how to plug a leak in a tire, but never on the side wall. I don't remember any plugs failing.

1:50 or so. I had the most ridiculous run of “bad luck” about 15-20 years ago with picking up nails, screws, whatnot in my tires. In a year & a half I had tires plugged SIXTEEN TIMES or something like that. My tires at the end of that were more plug than factory rubber, I think 😂 We had some juvenile delinquents in that neighborhood and I figured out after a while they were wedging nails and screws and whatnot under the front of the wheel so as soon as I (or my neighbors) rolled out of our driveways it would pierce the tire. To this day I walk around and look for that on all 4 wheels before rolling the car, depending on where it’s been parked

I plugged a tire three years ago, still holding strong.

I had my house roofed one spring and they lost nails all over the yard. Those tire plugs saved all four of my new mower's tires.

A problem with electric cars is that battery is very expensive to replace, just as expensive as the car itself

There's a nifty tool you can use to hold up the tire with lug bolts. It's a rod that threads in, you slide the tire onto the hub with that, then put in a couple bolts to hold the tire, remove the rod and continue the rest.

Scotty missed a Very important point about tire plugs: it depends soooo much how close the plug is to the sidewall. Too close to the sidewall and you are gambling with more than your car. Possibly maybe somewhat hazardous. In the middle of the tread? Drive those tires until they are bald. 👍🏼

Honesty is a very rare and valuable commodity.

Had a nail puncture in one of my beloved Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires that had plenty of tread left. Put a plug in it and drove them until I needed a new set.

I've been using Safety Seal plugs for years and they've NEVER let me down. One time a friend tore his sidewall on a root sticking out of a freshly graded trail. We stuffed about 6 plugs into the gash and I was thinking there's no way it's going to hold air, but amazingly it did! Such an easy fix for basic nails and screws that can get picked up anywhere. Everyone should carry a plug kit and air compressor in their vehicles..

I recently road raced a Gixxer 750 with a tire plug in the Michelin Pilot rear racing slick tire. Did over 120 laps without any issue and was hitting over 175 mph on the straight at COTA. Picked up a nail within 2 miles of putting the brand new racing slicks on and had no choice but to plug it and go. I’d say plugs are absolutely safe to use after that real world test.

Killdozer was a Komatsu D355A weighing 49 tons stock, then after being armored up, reportedly 61 tons. An amazing machine!

Great video Scotty. I really enjoyed this. I do agree the brain isn't fully functioning until 25 or 30. Eventually you realize it wasn't terrible luck that made things happen. It was you doing it to yourself! I like the trend toward electric accessories. In general I think it helps with reliability and simplifies things under the hood. Getting rid of hydraulics isn't a terrible thing, and the AC doesn't necessarily have to be under the hood. Could put the compressor in the trunk for example.

I have plugged tires on the sidewalls and it worked. I also have plugged holes that took 2 plugs next to each other to seal.

The main sleezey thing Elon does is overwork his employees and some back hand corporates dealings. Tesla employees are required to work 60 hour weeks with mandatory overtime constantly. Not surprising that Elon himself has constantly claimed people are lazy and should work 80 hour weeks every week. Elon also claims he works 80 hour weeks, however he also counts any time he sits at a computer with his corporate email open as working. For corporate dealings, there are a ton. Most well known one though is the solar city one. He bought the brand claiming it was to work with the "sustainable" push his brand has. Turns out it was he had a friend who owned that company, knew their businesses was stagnating, and bailed him out. When he bought the brand he also totally gutted their employees turning them into normal Tesla employees to make Model 3s rather than what they were originally hired for. Needless to say he got sued for this.
