My favourite story comes from Bruce Dickinson. He said Rob Halford started wearing leather and studs and people thought it was super cool style so they started doing it. Rob Halford used to wear his fetish gear from sex shops.... So basically the "uniform" of metal the studs and leather, chains etc comes straight from a gay musician who was into it 🙂

That's freakin awesome!!! I always had assumed that the leather look in metal had evolved on it's own. Though I thought they looked like leather daddies. And I was always wondering who knew what. I mean, those guys could tell some fucking stories! They should write a book!

@@pillcosby546 acceptance and kindness are two different things. Believe it or not, it is possible to disagree with someone but still give them respect. My point is, you don't have to agree with a particular issue and that's ok, it's your right to have an opinion. The issue is when someone actively goes out of their way and decides that a good use of their time is to just go the extra mile of being an asshole. Do people really have nothing else to do with their lives? That's the most basic definition of bullying...

For example, we know that people tend to forget the existence of bisexuality, and the fact that one of the most important popular culture icons such as david bowie was openly bi is something that i just can't ignore and I totally appreciate. Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself

There is people that never in their minds are going to accept a trans person as a legitimate woman or man, I mean for them is just a man dressing as a ladie or a ladie dressing as a man, and is near to impossible to change that point of view when it come from a belive system. Me personally I don't give a damn about the sexuality of a person nevertheless a rock/metal musician, if their gay if their are trans that's great. Rock n roll has always been a rebellious type of music there is no space for racism, homophobia, or intense moral political correctness

I just love Rock. Why care who sings or plays it. I'm straight. Queen is my absolute favorite band. November 24, 1991, when Freddie died, it was the first time I cried over the death of a celebrity. (Neil Peart's passing was second). If it matters to you who an artist loves, or who an artist has a relationship with, the problem is you.

Straight but have been an ally since it was first explained to me in the early 1970’s that there really were people that gave a mad fuck one way or another who someone loved,. Didn’t make since then, still doesn’t. Don’t care about your religion, your chosen morality, your reason for hate. You have a right to those I suppose, but you don’t get to take others right to peace and love in their life for your twisted agendas. I’m a grandma, my kids and grands have been taught this. They are loved, no matter what their expression, but so far it’s a shared love of music. Peace to all you who have ever been in pain. I still weep for your release from suffering.

I'm glad this video has good reception but I've noticed a misunderstanding in the comments section. I would like to inject some of my thoughts into this. Lots of comments say things like "I don't care about their sexuality, I only care about their music". This attitude is exactly what has led to these LGBTQ+ heroes to be part of the community. It's an environment of societal outcasts where talent and passion are your defining features.

As a ignorant youth growing up in London i had unfounded and unfair views which grew from social programming, Leaving the social bubbles that promoted that line of thinking was a massive relief to actually have a open rational mind, didn't help that my elders had very racial and sexist views but they were from a time long ago, there is only one thing that i care what someone is and that is weither they are a good person, gender race religious beliefs means nowt to me, there just parts of the whole package, its what they do with those parts and beliefs that count, As a youth if a gay man said i had a nice butt i would of been a jerk and hurled abuse (not proud and not a good excuse but youth and ignorance was the cause) Now adays i would just laugh and say "you can imagine whatever you like and i hope you enjoy it and thank you for the compliment but thats not my scene" It aint until the years start to add up you see the journey your life has taken and how many evolutions of the same person you become The same but different

To everyone saying "I don't care about the sexuality, just the music", the two aren't always mutually exclusive. That's the point of the art form. It's poetry at work, the writer chooses what to write about. It's only a matter of who wants to listen, and to what degree. It's not always the subject matter, but when it is written about, the message tends to fall on deaf ears.
@Caine61

I think what people mean by that is that musical artists should be known for their talent and contribution to the art rather than just being tokenized as “that gay singer.” Musical skill and talent is something respectable that takes effort to develop. You can’t control if you’re gay/straight/bi
