Want to know the truth?? Here you go: Subaru WRX, its zippy, fun to drive, mods are expensive, eats gas like a V8, best AWD, head gaskets can go out if you mod it too much, overall, best car I've ever owned

Head gasket is a NA problem. New fa20 wrx is actually pretty good on gas compared to the EJ series. Subaru is great if you maintain them and live in a climate with snow. If you’re looking for big power go to a different brand

10 times safer in a crash too. Toyota ps are terrible in accidents fold like a pop can plus? Toys? Have had bad rust in frame issues forever,

Better than a BMW to maintain, but pretty unreliable sadly. don’t buy something like a WRX to be a daily driver, more like a canyon carving weekender in addition to a Toyota or something more reliable.

I agree, you do the best Wacky Wednesday videos. Congrats on your Legend. Those were groundbreaking cars. A friend of mine was given one just like yours brand new as her very first car. It was stick shift and she was a good driver. The only thing I remember of the car is that it would grind in reverse & the top of the shifter was illuminated.

I don't disagree. While this wasn't a ton of money, it was a considerable amount once all was said and done. I base the price of things on how many Acura Legends I could have bought, on the upgrade alone, I could have a garage of about 10 Legends.

I’m currently on my second WRX. They’re definitely fun, reliable cars that will get you through just about anything winter in the northern states will throw at you (with some proper snow tires). Just don’t flog them and they’ll be fine. I traded in my modded, tuned 2005 with 140K (to get my 2018) and it never gave me any problems outside of routine maintenance.

Got a 2015 WRX with 93,000 miles and no problems! Except that time when a rat made a nest on the middle of the engine and a shitty oil filter (wasn’t to spec and noticed quickly) it has been a dream! Dunno why many people find Subaru’s shitty🤷🏼♂️ I think it’s because of the teenagers who have no idea what they are doing. I on the other hand chose too keep mine stock, as I have another project car I carefully work on.

That’s incredible ! I learned to drive manual on my first car - 87 Acura Legend and then a few cars later I acquired a Acura Integra! Now I have myself a 2017 WRX heavily modified... absolutely love the car!

I learned to drive manual on my ‘13 WRX that I bought like a month ago. hard to tell how many thousands of miles I’ve worn off the clutch in the past 600 miles 😅😅

My review of my 2011 STi: Handles like a dream, incredibly fun to drive daily even if slowly, gas mileage isn't great, but its better than my old wagon, I usually get around 24 highway, 17 city. You can mod these things to hell and back but don't expect to go over 350 crank or so without doing a full engine rebuild. Interior is pretty spartan, but it's comfortable enough. For a sports car, the ride quality is fantastic, with bumps not being too jarring while still having near no body roll. Get this car while you're still young, its the best cheap fun you'll have besides maybe a BRZ

Scotty, I took a decently elevated speed bump at around 45 mph on my X5. Don’t see any leaks, tires/rims/alignment seem fine so far, don’t think I hit the bottom of my car. Should I still get it checked out?

Hey Scotty, I enjoy your videos and they have helped me many times. I have a question though, I have a 2013 Honda Accord LX and its 2.4 liter machine now the problem is every time I stop on a light the air conditioner just cuts off. But if I put it on a neutral and rev it a little bit like it will start blowing cold air. Do you have any advice on this problem?

Hey Scotty, ive been binging your videos all day, great content! For those sport car enthusiasts like myself and with all your knowledge on reliability, etc im curious what your thoughts and recommendations would be for different price points. I currently own a 2015 MB C63s AMG as my daily in MN but am considering an exchange to two separate vehicles for winter and summer. For the summer sports car in question I would prefer buying something a couple years used to save on the initial depreciation for no more than about $80k. Other criteria include 0-60 in at least low 4s, gorgeous exterior styling (refined and respectable, ie no burly muscle cars like the vett), beautiful exhaust notes, fairly luxurious interior and a back seat for a small child would be a plus. Thanks!

Sold my '02 WRX that I bought new a couple months ago. The car had 208K miles, no issues for the first ten years after that some $$ but for me it was the price of keeping a car 17 years. No mods and adult driven, well some "spirited driving". Replaced with a '05 with 78K miles.

The old ones were good. My sister has 1993 Leone station wagon. Still running and uses a carb. She doesn't use it much but occasionally starts it up and drives it around. The car's pretty solid. A lot of them were junked because they became too old and parts became expensive. And this is in Africa folks.

I have owned my WRX for 8 years and nearly at 100K miles as a daily driver. Nothing has ever gone wrong with the car except the starter and clutch. Though, important note, I kept my engine 100% stock. Mine is 2011 so luckly my engine did not blow up, yet. Great vehicle hands down.

Hey scotty i own a 2008 daihatsu sirion but i have an issue with it. The overdrive light keeps on flashing even when i press the button nothing happens. When i floor it the accelerator feels very loose goes all the way to the floor and the car seems to lose a bit of power. What do think is wrong?

Altek you got it! Haha, I was into them for a while and only a few gave me issues. My 2013 BRZ engine failure is what ultimately made me give up, but I still had an Impreza winter beater after that 😂 Fun cars, and especially a WRX with 350whp! Now that the engine is built, you can maintain it properly - which is the main problem with used ones. So you’re on the right track for fun 🔥

My 2014 STI had sudden catastrophic engine failure after 30,000 miles too, luckily I had the extended warranty and Subaru replaced it.

@@username8644 and I have a 98 accord with 330k on it. So I know they're reliable. Also own a 2019 type r. And nobody truly knows the reliability of the Type R engine yet. You have to remember it's not the 1990s anymore. It's 2020.

The hatch looked very rally to me, that's why I had to go with it. I was worried about the sub taking up too much space but a 10 provides so much sound and with banana clips on the back and simple Velcro, it comes out in seconds and can still be loaded like a hatch. Glad you liked it bud

I had a ‘16 wrx with the FA20DIT engine mated to a 6 sp mt. Cobb ap, J pipe, cat back, custom tune. The thing was a beast!!! Haven’t heard to many bad things about that engine or trans, just weak clutch and watch out if you go E85.

Back in 2014, I was debating whether to get a 2013 with the old 2.5 liter engine, or wait for the new 2014 model with the new 2.0 FA engine. I figured the extra displacement would be nice, as my 2005 WRX, with a 2.0 engine, was weak and had critical turbo lag. I'm SO glad I waited for the new FA engine. It's hella powerful, gives boost at just 2K, and way more reliable than the flaky FJ 2.5 engines. I do miss the rumble, but I'll take power and reliability of the FA engine any day. I recommend staying away from the STi or any other model with the 2.5 engine, and get the stock WRX with the 2.0 instead. Aside from reliability, it's actually way better and more fun to drive than the bigger engine, too.

After 2011 I'm pretty sure they made the body of the WRX the same as the STI. Also, believe it or not this WRX is the faster car stock. Good buy!

So I’m curious. He says in the video that all “EJ255” engines are prone to total engine failure. That should mean it’s only the wrx models that are prone to this since the STI runs on the 257 right? Or is the STI just as prone to engine failure? Thanks in advance to anyone who can clarify this for me!
