The story was that he was a Roman priest who performed secret weddings against the law of Emperor Claudius II who, in the 3rd century, outlawed marriages for young men because he decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families. Imprisoned in the home of a noble, he healed his captor's blind daughter, causing the whole household to convert to Christianity and sealing his fate. Before being tortured and decapitated on February 14, he sent the girl a note signed "Your Valentine."

Valentines Day truly is a day created just for men to blow money on women. I had a friend who ordered flowers to his wife, but ordered the flowers to his house. She wasn't happy about that, she asked that he send another bouquet to her work so her coworkers can see the flowers. I couldn't stand this girl. And a lot of women who demand an overpaid date night for Valentines Day, they need to kick rocks.

Haha yea that one is an even bigger joke, that was totally made up by retail. There's a bit of a sales slump in the fall before the holidays so they threw this in to make a few extra bucks. I refuse to acknowledge this day and any girl who protests is immediately out.

Long before it was Valentines day it was a day of worship to Cupid, god of desire. Same holiday, different story, now a christian story. I was taught about it in public school in the 3rd grade in usa. We wrote little valentine letters to various people with attached candy. It wasn't taught to us about falling in love, just a kind gesture to other. kinda weird now that I think about it.

Rich am already halfway reading your book. Am from Canada Edmonton, your book helped me a lot. What men are going through now is the same like what happened to dogs thousands years ago. He was eating a fresh kill with his species ( wolves) but now he’s dependent on humans to feed something not even meat but processed food. That’s what we humans did to dogs back in the day. Look at wolves, they still live in their own empire following their alpha’s lead. But dogs are outside their ancestral system. It’s sad anyways stay fit fellas.

"Polished piece of dinosaur shit"...that's the true gem and gave me a good laugh. But yes this whole diamond ring thing was engineered by companies like Debeers and their ilk. Women bought it hook, line and sinker-it's arguably the most successful marketing campaign ever. The amount you are supposed to spend keeps going up-it'll be half a year's salary before long. And some suckers will still do it, putting themselves into debt. I've looked into what they cost out of morbid curiosity and almost puked.

No it’s a Catholic feast day. St. Valentine married young couples against the wishes of the King (he believed unmarried men would be better soldiers). St. Valentine was imprisoned for his faith and martyred. He is the patron Saint of happy marriages.

One thing us -beta guys fail to digest that the romantic scene and novel ,valentine day roses are only possible when she has the burning feel for you. If you are average dude years of hard work towards her would give you the same affection she gives to a Random good looking dude after your breakup with her... so a women's legs are wide quickly to a better looking dude.And from my experience I can say even the ugliest women dream about tall v shape guys and pine for a child from that guy even you are married with kids..You try 6 months to hold her hand, but being the right Mr. Chad/gigachad/influential/charismatic you do it in days.. Valentine's Day is stupid. It is just for businesses to sell junk. Fortunately, my woman agrees. We ignore the day. The data shows that tens of billions of dollars are spent each year on Valentine's Day. And even though its charm and appeal started fading, there are still entire industries that remain highly dependent on lovers exchanging gifts. Valentine’s Day spending in the US amounted to around $20.7 billion in 2019.
