What a dishonest way to frame this. The criticism is this game takes place in Japan therefore the games protagonist should be from that area. Aka Japanese. Also no other assaaians game had you play as an actual historical figure, they were all made up people who would have been native to the land where the game takes place. If this was done anywhere else it would have been weird. Just Imagine an assassins creed game set in Africa with an Asian protagonist. Nobody is doubting this person exist it just looks weird when you have so much rich Asian culture to pull from and you make the protagonist not Asian….

@@johngrimm2074 Yasuke (born c. 1550s) was a Black samurai who served the daimyo Oda Nobunaga in Japan during the Sengoku (“Warring States”) period. He was the first known foreigner to achieve samurai status.May 7, 2024
@kabayakiunagi393622 күн бұрын
According to the “Jesuit Annual Report of Japan”, "The black servant (Yasuke) that the Visitor (inspector) presented to Nobunaga, after Nobunaga’s death, went to the residence of the heir and fought for a considerable length of time. When a retainer of Mitsuhide approached him and fearlessly told him to hand over his sword, he did so. When Mitsuhide was asked by his retainer how to deal with Yasuke, he said, “The black servant is an animal who knows nothing, and he is not even Japanese, so do not kill him.” He decided not to execute him and said, “Place him in the church of the Pardre in India.” As a result, Yasuke was sent to the Nanbanji (Southern Barbarian Temple) and was spared. He was never a samurai, but merely a servant. This is the truth and the conclusion. If you doubt it, check the Japanese version of Wikipedia.

This highlights the strict social hierarchy and division of roles during the Sengoku period in Japan. Even though Yasuke was close to Nobunaga, his role was that of a servant, not a samurai. Bro, do you really not know anything about Yasuke that you can't put two and two together? Imagine you're the only Black person in a country, yeah? How would you hide or move around in secret? You wouldn't. It's not possible. You're too visible and too famous to do anything stealthily. So you do it out in the open. It's why Idris Elba would never have worked as James Bond. Running around European countries, whilst Black, and expecting no one to notice or react to you and giving away your position to the bad guys is just simply impossible. Overt actions would be the only recourse. This game solves that by including Naoe as main character too.
