The Gothic style has been misunderstood in the interior design world for quite some time. The immediate thoughts of Halloween and horror style are typically what comes to mind.... It's not a 'play-around' theme or seasonal, it is very much one of the staples of our history as human beings. Though it can be dark and moody, it can also be bright and cheerful as it was originally intended to be. Either direction you choose, it is sure to be dramatic when done correctly.

Thank you!!! My friend and I (both lovers of gothic, baroque and second empire) talk about this all the time!!! We say that Dracula was entirely too elegant for lucite coffin, cheesy black lacquer and plastic bats. For people looking for inspiration, look at Walpole’s Strawberry Hill house and anything designed by Pugin. The details, proportions and sheer commitment to gothic (revival) makes my heart sing.

Thank you for adding the historical background into your designs. I never realized the context but once you pointed Gothic architecture and interior design, it made 100% clarity to me. Especially when you added some modern uses into it. Kind of makes me think how Victorian could easily incorporate Goth into its design structure.

Just coming back from the eclipse in Maine, I can say Maine is loaded with houses like this. Many maintained, others melting into the forest, abandoned. And everything in between. Queen Anne, 2nd Empire, Greek Revivals,
