So basically Rich just wanted to hate and throw shade on a tackle company that is superior to the one that gives him a small discount code. Tool. And Brian feeding in to it and pandering isn’t a good look after gushing on the Bento box in previous videos.

No shade on the Hookup, just don't think the Bento box is worth the hype or price from my perspective. They are a great shop & carry stuff that lots of anglers get excited about. J F I only mentioned one company briefly that I worked with, most all bait comparisons are to baits widely used by the majority of bass anglers. Just being honest, I think out JDM plastics are overrated and over priced. I praised the 110 as a proven winner and offered up a different overseas popper that I feel is superior to the Pop Max.

Dude this was for entertainment purposes. I "fed" into it because I knew it would be an entertaining to get Rich going. Which it was. I'm not gonna stand in the way of comedy. In improv the concept is called "yes and", look it up. I indeed enjoy the bento boxes. Not everyone has to though.

Nothing underlying, no shade for THUT, just sharing my thoughts that not everything JDM is worth the prices, some is, some is not. There are some really good baits and some that have really good hype

Being a member of the Bento Box Club (would you expect anything else from me) there are definitely months where the colors are better than others and you really are just paying for the 110 and Pop-Max.. I'm am guessing if I were to sell the various colors through the past year, it would equal the cost of the box (some at msrp or some more special). I will say though that it's exactly as it's marketed a premium selected special JDM box.. you can get a karls box with random generic stuff, monsterbass used to have name brands and full packs (but when i stopped they had started putting in their own brands or "other/niche" brands) although they are selected by region. You are definitely paying for the exclusivity and the special color baits. To just value something purely on fish catching ability, we all would just throw a senko or paddle tail swimbait... you would have to judge it by its entirety. But it is very entertaining to hear your opinions and comparisons to USA baits. It would be a good collab you and @punchfishing could do!

when it comes down to jdm I wanna be able to pick the baits I'm getting especially for the prices I'm paying. This one I felt had to many soft plastics id rather have more hardballs rn going into the winter time but. Some of the baits that where in the box are great like the Macbeth and Rodio craft collab flatback jig its a heavy cover swim jig so u can throw it in heavy grass , wood etc. If I would recommend one thing when it comes to jdm. I'd buy from overseas rn cause ur probably gonna save a lot more doing so.

You can eBay the vision 110 and popmax and get your money back and get free tackle every month with the bento box. Some of the limited edition 110s and pops go for more... This was the worst box I've seen in two years and you can still get at least 100$ for the two pieces and free tackle.

Just like every other subscription box, you are taking a shot in the dark on whether or not you are getting items you will actually use or colors that you want to throw. You are not a JDM enthusiast anyways so I'm not sure why this box was chose for you to hate on. Do the others also.

Mr Higgs, hate is a strong word, I did like the 110 and Macbeth, overall I think subscription boxes are nice options as gifts or for short term fun, but not a mainstay for me regardless of box brand.

@HellaBass What you described is my point exactly. Personally in the past 3 years I've subscribed to multiple "monthly tackle boxes" from different companies and it's usually good for a beginner to receive different bait combos to use and try out but as a tournament angler its for sure a waste of money if you are brand specific or sponsored. They are great random gifts for anglers, though. Appreciate the content you produce 👍

I love love love this segment. Brian should do his typical video of the opening of the Bento Boxes and then thr next day they do it again together with hot honest takes! I will admit to dabbling with JDM baits.....but have a hard time based on price. Just had a large muskie or pike take a jackhammer.....saw it for just a minute, ate it all the way.....bye bye.

That was refreshing to watch, Rich! I agree with you about JDM soft plastics but I do like JDM hardbaits. I’ve spent way too much money on Evergreen, OSP, Lucky Craft, Megabass, and Deps hardbaits but they do catch fish and have some awesome colors

As a bait maker I have to say, Zoom uses really shitty plastic. Yes it’s soft, but I’d much rather use JDM baits than Zoom. All that time focused on the plastics when you say you prefer JDM hardbaits, and then no time is spent really looking at the hard baits. This honestly makes me not want to shop with Omnia.

Not sure how Soft Plastic materials are rated, but fish seem to like Zoom. I believe I praised the 110 and talked about how I am not overly impressed with Pop Max. We touched on the Shimano square bill earlier. Just having some fun and sharing my opinions.

the osp shrimp is made for their strong jig also would work on that deps jig. That's why they put it in the box. Do a little research. It's funny hating on jdm when they're the innovators that we knock off.

I've stopped touching JDM plastics, but there is something about having the Japanese packaging and whatnot. In the end, though, I have a whole box full of JDM plastics that I enjoy looking at, but not really fishing with. I always fish with new plastics, but in general the expensive JDM plastics either disappoint, or there's a much cheaper option available. At this point they're almost like a baseball cards or something - every so often I pull em out and look at em , but that's about it.

After all the knock off info going around, i think its safe to say japan made this stuff first, the US companies copied but can market to us better (obviously) . And japan quality is much better.

To compare JDM plastics with USDM plastics is nothing but ridiculous. First of all, most JDM Tournament baits have at least an eco certification and must be composed of non toxic ingredients (no Phthalat etc). Where‘s the innovation from USDM suppliers? All they have to offer are knock offs of JDM originals such as the Berkley Gilly or this years Magdraft knock off by Mr Zaldain for Bass Mafia? Sorry, but I would have expected at least from Brian a bit more willingness to object against his opponents ridiculous comparisons. This was very opportunistic and poor….

I wasn't there to defend the baits, I was just presenting them and letting Rich give his thoughts and opinions. I already made my vote with my wallet as a long-time Bento subscriber. I enjoy the baits and the plastics. It's not my job to defend the products. Everyone's allowed an opinion.

Arne, what do you want met to compare them too??? I believe we talked about the Brush Hog, which is pretty OG although it probably got its inspiration from the Bacon Rind. I also referenced the Missile baits destroyer which is in that same family, but fairly original in design. There is plenty of copying in the fishing industry agreed. I will not pretend to know every JDM bait but I bet it happens there too.

Fair points but jdm is always gonna be superior to USA, not only for fishing lures. You guys are comparing spending and getting what you paid for and getting something everyone else has. Jdm comes out with pretty much everything first. You’re talking about how USA remakes stuff. They discontinue lures for a reason. Again Japan will always make better stuff than USA. Go there🤷🏽‍♂️

Most of these boxes that various companies provide are horrible value. This one in particular is silly. You get so many baits that are priced way higher than a similar bait that's already made. Only for folks like Brian that care about things like appearance and exclusivity lmao
