The Targs are like sorcerers that don't know how to use magic. That have special abilities, that much is clear, but they don't know how to use abilities. The Dragon Empire is gone and they took all the wizard schools with them. The targ don't really have anywhere to go to refine their natural talents.

It could be about Aegon II. • Son of Viserys: Yes. • Born: Yes. He even survives. • Aegon's crown: Yes. Not born with it, even metaphorically (maybe), but he does eventually wear that exact crown. • Sounds of warfare: His birth heralds future conflict. • Placed on throne: Yes. Not by Viserys, except maybe metaphorically, but definitely placed there. (He does not even seize it for himself without being pushed to it). • Bells tolling as he claims the throne: Not sure yet, but probable because it is right after the death of Viserys and before Rhaenyra can act. The bells are(?) tolling for the death of the king. • Dragons roaring as one: Probably not literal (but the same is probably true for all of other candidates unless only one dragon exists). This could be metaphorical in the sense that actual dragons are roaring at eachother angrily as they fight in the war which his ascent/usurpation causes. Or it could be metaphorical in the sense that all of the then-living Targaryens respond with acclaim, outrage, etc. and 'roar' as they argue, and eventually charge into battle, over the exercising of his claim.

Viserys character is actually expanded and even explored more than in the book of Fire and Blood, and the Dance of the Dragons will be considered his tragedy because he believes rightfully that his family will be vital for the survival of the Realms, but it also marks him a tragic figure as a king who wanted his family to stand united in their fight against the dead.

I’ll be honest. I bought Fire and Blood as soon as it came out, but I was in the beginning of my Master’s degree. Reading a fictional type textbook it in between actual textbooks was difficult so I never finished. The series, along with your channel, makes me want to pick it back up and give it a go again.

Viserys should have sticked to the customs of his own house, making his daughter his hire and never remarry again. His meakness towards the Lords of the realm is what leads to the catastrophy. Even thinking, that the prophecy could consider antiqued andal customs was a weak call.

You should feel so proud of all of your work and your ability to piece together Georges hints about the dreams years ago! I also was geeking out about seeing Strong on the counsel, made my husband pause so I could explain all about your “The seed is strong” theories. So glad George is involved in this ! What do you think Viserys meant by saying that their control of their dragons is an illusion ? I feel like we are getting ready to see the dragons die for the Targaryen’s battles… and with Crowfood daughters videos about the Targaryen’s possibly having some genetic dragon link… that line took me by surprise a bit. Thanks Joe Magician for your work !

Sometimes there's a way around the curse if you share the prophecy with a third party and allow them to interpret the prophecy and make decisions about the prophecy then you're in a way short circuiting the process of bad luck for anybody who sees the future

The dream is not about Baelon, it's about Aegon II. The dream comes true in episode 9, with Aegon wearing the Conqueror's crown, the bells ringing, and the rest of the dream depicts the civil war that is to follow. Moreover, it is indeed Viserys who "puts his son on the throne" with his last words that Alicent takes for a mission that he gives him to make Aegon the king. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy that Viserys unintentionally brings about through misinterpretation. A great classic, so tragic in Martin's universe.

Actually that son Viserys dreamed of is the PtwP. It is his son, but not Aegon. It’s Aemond. He will have a bastard son with Alys Rivers. That son will be the anscestor of Catelyn, Lysa, and Edmure Tully. Remember when Heleana was playing with the millipede? She says the last one has no legs at all. She’s talking about Bran Stark to was wheelchair bound and can’t walk.

Kinda disrespectful of the Targaryens to not give a heads up to any of the Valyrian families about the Doom. Surely dragon dreams wouldve been taken seriously by Old Valyria. They did it out of spite 😂

I rather like the idea that Viserys had this dream about his future son before he even married Aemma. Maybe that's why he was so ridiculously impatient about them having children. Seriously... they get married in 93 AC and Rhaenyra is born in 97 AC after three failed pregnancies.

Do you truly still believe that Martin will finish the Ice and Fire series? He won't. There will also be no book two of Fire and Blood. The producers got guidelines from "The World of Ice and Fire", though, but I hope they don't stick to them...

Re: the crown from his dream. I went back and looked, and I could just be seeing patterns in the goo, but it almost looks like the baby was born with a caul. Or it could just be the iron and red of the blood of his birth.

So what happen to Aegons dream after the death of Rhaenyra? Im guessing VIserys told Aegon II and probably Aemond and Daeron but after they died how did Aegon III get it? Was it just lost forever? Was it in the scrolls Baelor and Aerys and Rhaegar read?

I imagine that Rhaenyra told each of her sons in turn. She had time to do it. But if Aegon III knew, you'd think he'd try harder to preserve the dragons, even traumatized as he was.

I've been wondering what if the heir he placed in the throne is Jon and not literally his son, cause if actually believed he was going to crown his male heir why keep Rhaenyra? After all he belives in Aegon's dream... why quit so fast from one that he had clearer than a memory? If Daenys the Dreamer and Aegon had prophetic dreams with centurys before it actually happened, why would Viserys's be different? And in the dream his heir is born with a crown, now give a small think. When Jon was born both father and grandfather were already dead... so he was born already crowned... and all the dragons roaring as 1, if they are only 3 thats really not that difficult for All of them roaring as 1, or a 3 headed Dragon

He is not, Fire and Blood is written by Maester Gyldayn who does not have a high opinion of Barth. Who is only a Septon, lesser in a Maester's eyes, and often comes up with wild theories. Sounds familiar.

I am wondering whether we could apply this prophecy to Jon or Dany. A Targ being born: Check. Viserys': Obviously, nope. But he could just be seeing it from the perspective of someone else. Son: Jon, check. Dany, not so much. Given that he is so confident that it is a boy, this is major evidence against Dany being the referent, for me. Crown of iron: I think that this fits Jon better than Dany. First, there is a bloody birth possibly via C secction, which is exactly what you said here reapplied. Second, Jon presumably has the crown of the Winter, which has iron spikes. Either of them could inherit Argon I's crown, symbolically, which is a pretty simple one of Valyrian steel and which represents the Iron Throne. But a terrible birth during a time of danger does still work for Dany, and the other interpretstions can work for her too. All of the warfare imagery: Applies to both symbolically, and sequentially. Jon literally has it going on out front. Sitting on Iron Throne: If we know that it is the Iton Throne, then I put more money on Dany than Jon. But Jon does sit a throne. Dragons roaring as one: Could apply to either, especially if there is only one dragon remaining. Dragons could be symbolic of Targs themselves - if Jon is the only surviving Targ, then the whole family is embodied in him. Not a wonderful fit for either of them, but I lean toward it favoring Jon. It probably was just meant to be for this episode alone, but I thought that trying it out with other people in mind could be an enlightening exercise.

@@jerrancebowman965: I cannot tell whether you are joking, so sorry if I ruin it. No, it does not. GRRM often reveals the answer before the riddle and often reuses plotpoints and twists. "The seed is strong" (not "Strong") is one of these. It is a consistent feature that Targaryen features are recessive, being masked by, in particular, darker ones. This happens with the Baratheons (who also dominate Lannister festures, hence the reveal about Cersei and Jaime), Martells, and several other houses (see D&E). Jon has Stark features, which are dark. It is easily the case that Lyanna's phenotype is more apparent in him than Rhaegar's. There also is no evidence of Jon's potential parents (Ned, Lyanna, Benjen, Rhaegar) being or coupling with a Strong in recent generations. In fact, we cannot even track the Strong lineage with certainty, although that it a hobby of this channel. Jon is not particularly massive either, which is evidence against the notion. The show (GoT) reveals his parentage to be of Rhaegar and Lyanna. We know this to be an interview question from GRRM to the showrunners before they could even work on the project and they also sat down with him and plotted critical storylines before completing the series. There is a lot of evidence of R+L=J. Just google anything about it. In whole, it is pretty clear that Jon is not meaningfully a Strong (or at least more meaningfully so than he is a Targ and Stark) and is in fact the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna.

An additional point for my original analysis which also functions as a reply about Jon being a Strong: If we consider the line "Promise me, Rhaenyra. Promise me." to symbolically be part of the prophecy (it onviously is not technically so), then this points to Jon being the subject of the prophecy and also the son of a Targaryen.

What if it’s Jon? He is a heir and he was born after his father and grandfather were both dead technically making him king, all the dragons roaring as one, could be the death of all the Targaryens, and the hooves and clash of steel could be the battle between Ned and the Kingsguard.

eerggghh the mystical and fairytale-esque things are my favorite parts of the world. even the Starks, all solemn and honorable and of the North have their version of mysticism.. (even if dismissed as grumpkins) tbh seeing Bran’s little face getting Summer is like the most magic moment lol. The dreamy prophetic quality of the Targs makes them more aloof, less wholesome and grounded than the others. Wolves of the earth and Dragons of the air, i try to embody both ❤️‍🔥🤍❤️‍🔥🤍 ty for the content!

I've seen a lot of misunderstandings that Viserys had the option of saving any one out of them both but no he could only choose to save the baby or let them both die, his only option to save the baby or not .. He took the right call 💯

It's called choice and agency, they could've included her in the decision of her life instead of surprise c section that killed her. Maybe she would have said save my son as well, but we'll never know because that autonomy was taken from her. Also clear that she did not want more children after several very tough pregnancies, but Viserys insisted she do it for her duty to the realm. At every step of that pregnancy, Aemma was made secondary or a bystander to her own life and health.
