Spiritual Unfoldment with John Butler

Spiritual Unfoldment with John Butler

3 жыл бұрын

From time to time we release a special edit video for our ASMR friends - no interviewer, just John's voice. This one was recorded in All Saints church, Bakewell.
John Butler has been practising meditation for nearly 60 years. In this conversation, he reflects on how it leads to realising who we really are. "I look in the mirror and see an old man but, actually, I'm ageless - the Observer of this lifelong performance. I'm not, now, looking for anything, as I'm complete. I'm life itself."
This ASMR edit is also available in audio only format under the title 'Truth and the search for lost innocence' on audio streaming services including Spotify and Apple here - ffm.to/commonsenseguidetomedi....
Those wanting more detailed accounts of John's life experience - the formative influences, which have taught and made him what he is, will find it in his 8 published books, available through the website: www.spiritualunfoldment.co.uk/store.
For your free copy of John's poem 'Clouds' join John Butler's email community here - spiritualunfoldment.co.uk.
Those who wish to support the Work of Spiritual Unfoldment can donate here - www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s...

here we are all again, humble and devoted to watch john talking directly to our conscience and spark current of energy to our souls. we all feel in some way within ourselves that we know what john is sharing with us. its like we are the same mind. that is because john is is awaken and he woke us to, but slower because many of us still have this ego mind that is blocking our inner vision. thank you john butler to exist and to make me feel alive many times over.

Your words are invaluable to a man who is transitioning from being a father to what you just defined here as “something else”. The realization that you just can’t go back has been a punch in the stomach. When you are young you get into the habit of shrugging things off with the attitude that there’s always tomorrow, you can do whatever then. One day you wake up and realize you been on autopilot and should have lived in the moment more. I look around and all I see are fading memories of lost love, dead friends, buried pets and kids who are now much too busy starting their own lives to have time for an old man. Im living in a world of regret and having a terrible go at it!!! Thank you John for helping ease some of my suffering by reframing my perspectives!!!

John is a 21st century Saint. I'd like to ask John this-- are all the souls of those who've passed away in the stillness? Are they as close as that? Is that heaven? I read "In Tune With The Infinite" by Ralph Waldo Trine many years ago. It affected me profoundly. I felt my dead father right beside me.

John , you often say “man is a sinner.” Aren’t we here to transform from sin to love? When we fall in love with ourselves we are able to love everyone, unconditionally. If God is within us, how can we not have love for ourselves. The spirit we tap into within is pure love. If we think of ourselves as sinners, loving is difficult. Does it come back to “Do unto others?”
@Avisado
@Avisado 2 жыл бұрын
Liked your question. Not to answer for John but what i've gathered is that our whole problem other than the mistaken identity ( assuming we are the body/mind/ego) is the sense of separation that goes with this delusion. There can only be lasting Peace when there is no sense of separation from "others" even plants, birds, fish and animals. Rocks as well. We are from the same cloth (substratum) which is unmanliest. The stuff the Creator is made from. Who can be at peace feeling separate from God? You will always feel unworthy and like an unforgiven sinner to some degree until awakening to your reality. One could call it "born again" but not in the way evangelicals use the term. There is no backsliding in Self Realization. That would not be possible.
@erotaka7dark128

One common mistake I see many people make is to live with their body's only. The focus on and pay attention to only the physical state of themselves and they monitor only its changes. As human GOD created us from body and soul. The body has limited time but the soul is eternal. A soul can not be seen directly but we can still observe its manifestations as the body (not the flesh but more of its movements) a smile is a physical manifestation of the soul. Another manifestation is what we call the hear. The cluster of emotions that we have which also define us as human. Third we have the mind. The logic, analysis, perception...etc. Each human has 3 ages if one may say. Physical, emotinal, and mental. The soul with its manifestations in the body, and the physical body both of them together are the human. The soul is like a software for a hardware. Death is like uploading the software to a cloud before the vanish of the hardware. The hardware might vanish but the software can remain intact, and the day will come where we will be brought back and the software will be given a new hardware and we will stand before our CREATOR alone and our deed will be observed and examined. If good it's good if bad it is bad.

Could it be that stillness is just the limit of the mind trying to understand. You say its by a process of elimination you discover that this stillness is what you truly are. Could it be that the sense of meaningfulness, freedom, positive emotion, etc.., is actually a generation of the mind as it progressively is surprised by its inability to conceive itself. It continues to be surprised because it also has hardcoded into it that it can conceive things (the idea of inconceivability is itself inconceivable to the mind), so round and round it goes on a hamster wheel making one conception then realizing that conception is an object of the mind rather than the subject of the mind and thus isn't it, then trying to update that conception with new material it believed was why it fell short of representing the subject, only to find this new attempt also is of another object and not the subject, etc, the novelty and surprise of being eluded but then feeling like one can get it the next iteration? Or perhaps something else also occurs, where the mind realizes this pattern and expects to never be able to sense or conceive the subject, but eventually comes to some very abstract and pure and simple "stillness" concept with which no fault can be found (even though it is there...it's just the limit of abstraction so no improvement could be made by the mind, and there's no better alternative to compare it against to find fault by) and so it registers that as a successful case of conceiving the inconceivable. Is the joy of stillness simply the pleasure of being somewhere you don't expect possible?

I have question.John says the truth is that which never changes and talks about turning to face the (eternal) light.But,according to Genesis,God the prime mover,said 'Let there be light'...This implies the primal state is in fact(eternal) darkness.Luminosity is after all provided by something burning.And that which burns must burn out so is not eternal at all.I find this disturbing.Any one like to comment on this?

The light and the sun were two different creations in genesis….light was created before that flaming ball you call the sun and it’s nighttime partner the moon. Light is also a term applied to awareness/consciousness….we have to be very careful with words, labels, and what we imagine they mean…because we are too susceptible to the treacherous machinations of dishonest scribes.
