Original Capitol records 45rpm.
Debuted 5/30/1981 on the Modern Rock chart and peaked at #7. However, it did not chart on the Hot 100 but "bubbled under" at #101.
One of my personal favs from the '80s and sounds much richer on vinyl!

What's even cooler is that when you lift this promo copy up into the light it has a distinct green tint but looks normal on the turntable. I have several of these colored tint copies from the 80s. All of them happen to be on promo labels.

Wow David Foster again on another album. My god he really did have his hands in every type of music back then. This is in my top 10 favorite songs of all time too.

Great Tune..Like a Time Warp back to HighSchool grade 11,when it was released..I don't know why but always thought .38 Special did this..Can't tell I'm getting old at all eh.Scary..

i do agree and this is the original. co-written and produced by music genius Davis Foster. Who'd a thunk it, way back in 81. the whole album has good grooves all the way around. Sushi Girl was really popular as well as I recall. primo group the TUBES.

@@drummingdanny84 Actually Steve Lukather also played bass. Rick refused to play because he was pissed Foster brought in Lukather to write the song.

@Kabul81...very true. However, radio stations wouldn't play the longer versions and therefore for the song to get any airplay and sell off the record shelves they had to edit them down.

I could be wrong but I don't think that's the original 45 release. That looks like the Outside Inside cover and didn't Capitol records have a yellow label?

Looks like a promo copy (usually white).... "not for sale" .

my copy of 45 didn't have the keyboard part at 2:45 & got more of end guitar solo before fade out.I heard it on Anne Nightingale Friday evening show, radio1 while doing my school homework July 81.
