Elizabeth was so good here, putting up a facade to hide her hatred for Katherine. She almost made it seem like she was genuine with her courteousness. Queen Anne Boleyn’s daughter indeed. Fun fact: In real life back then, Elizabeth legitimately liked her 3rd stepmother and they loved each other as if they were siblings. She also witnessed Queen Katherine getting dragged away at court by the guards and she never forgave her father for it.

A father can’t wish more than having a daughter like Elizabeth, I think Henry saw in Elizabeth at that moment what he has always wanted, a true heir, but just never noticed.

Notice the way he looks at Elizabeth when she walks away… He sees Anne. He sees his crimes against Anne. Anne’s ghost following him and seeing him through Elizabeth. He knows it. My Elizabeth shall be queen, and my blood well spent!

I pity all of Henry's wives. In the end, they were all his victims--except maybe (emphasis on MAYBE) Anne of Cleves, who narrowly avoided becoming a victim and got wealth and prestige out of it. Good for her!

Seeing Catherine with Edward, makes me wonder what kind of mother she would have been had she had a child of own. I like to think she would have been a good one, the kind that would have played and doted on her child.

There is one thing that bothers me, Elizabeth would also have been around 7-11 years old at this time, not the age she looks in this scene.

It’s thing like Henry always keeping him bundled up and out of sight that I think many young princes died from illness at such a young age. They were so protected that were unable to develop an immune system strong enough to fight away illness. Just a theory but I think it combined with poor medical care contributed greatly. As Jane’s ghost says at the end “he will die young and you have killed him”

I wish I could hug Catherine, give her all the kisses and protect her from all the pain man did to her. 🥺❤️

In every scene Elizabeth shows up in front of her father he looks at her with a long stare. Sometimes I feel its a stare of shame or pity for how she was neglected and declared bastard after her mother’s execution. When she grew up he was slowly realising how precious she is.

Anne mentioned that she’s proud of Elizabeth and she has inherited her better temperament. Elizabeth inherited Anne’s shrewdness and Anne’s charismatic nature as well as her brains. This helps her in gaining power and keeping her image as the Virgin Queen.
