Paul, I feel the same way you do. I'm 55 years old, and life is too short to waste it standing around waiting with the other chickens in the pen. Knowing where you're going, when you're going, why you're going there, and what you're going to do there, isn't what I call an aversion. I call it having your SHIT together. Thanks for another informative and entertaining video.

It's the same everywhere I have been in Mexico. Here's some more tips. If your bank doesn't refund ATM fees like Schwab, Banco Azteca and Intercam have the cheapest fees I have found. Unfortunately they are not all over Mexico. Two, I usually withdraw $4900 pesos (rather than an even 5000) so I get at least 400 in smaller bills. It can be difficult to break 500p notes. Three, if a bank has the conversion scam I try to not use that bank in the future. No point in rewarding them for semi-crooked behavior.

I have found Banco del Bienestar is the cheapest with about 11 peso fee. Though using my PayPal debit card, there is zero fee at Santaner

I detest queues, if I see a checkout line with more than 4 people I abandon ship and walk away. One thing I will NEVER understand is people who wait in line for an hour plus at a restaurant because its the in place to go especially breakfast

You made a quick, helpful video on this topic! We too try to avoid those kinds of places on the 15th and 30th. We've also noticed that the cheap bars (such as Cerveceria Chapultepec) are packed on those days as well. One question: What if the 15th or 30th falls on a Sunday or on a holiday? Do they get paid the day before?

There is something similar in some parts of the US. Depending on how an individual state recharges EBT/SNAP cards (food stamps) you might also see crowds on the day the cards are reloaded. Sometimes it happens at midnight, and you'll see people waiting for the clock to strike 12, and then they all get in line to check out at once. Again, it depends on where you live. In my state the cards are reloaded over a period of several days, depending on the first letter of you last name, so the crowding doesn't happen here.

Good Job Paul, I appreciate your Short videos sometimes. Longer is fine if you have more information to deliver, but shorter is easier to commit to. Good to know about the 15th and 30th. I thought your 2 days were going to be Saturday and Sunday. I've been told not to go to our Ajijic Walmart on a Sunday, and I learned the hard way. Checkout lines were into the shopping lanes. We just left. Makes sense as many locals might have the weekend off, especially Sunday to do their shopping. Actually, I try to avoid Walmart anyway, the !World's Most Inconvenient Store'!!

I used to manage a grocery store for a chain in the US. It was the same thing. I had to order quite a bit more cash as many people on public assistance would cash their checks on the 1st to do their shopping. Now days if understand it correctly with the EBT card. It is recharged over a period of a few days. Not everyone gets their money on the same day so now the peak rush is blended in over a few days.

Ugh. I hate crowds, too. I go to the grocery store on Sunday mornings around 10 when people are at Mass. Also, I went to an ATM on a bank holiday and the ATM had already run out of cash, even though the transaction had cycled through and showed up on my bank transaction list. There was no message about not having cash to dispense. The bank was closed. I had to call my American bank to dispute the withdrawal, as the Banorte was closed and I did not print a receipt.

Just a heads up on ATMs. We were in Akumal last week and it was out of money. Went back right after they were done filling it (we watched them fill it) and it wouldn't give me money. Not really any error message I could understand. Went back to our hotel and started watching KZfaq videos and googling info and found out Mexico ATMs do not take 6 digit pin numbers which I had.
