This great sketch is a take off from Coronation Street. The sketch is from the BBC series The Two Ronnies S02E01. In memory of the late, great Ronnie Barker.

So many different tunes and lines to remember. Ingenious!When all this was shown for the first time, I never thought that what we had then wouldn't exist now. Nothing to compare now!Still miss them!

Am assuming that you and the Postie were trained dancers. Probably show girls such as the Tiller Girls, those high kicks would be part of their routine.

Interesting fact. Watch the video and you'll see only 3 camera changes. Originally the video was shot in one take, however the feather boa that Ronnie Corbett is wearing made him cough when he turned his head to collect the banjo from the stage hand. This is why the camera changes (allowing for two takes to be spliced together) to show "Corbett" playing a "solo" at 4:25
@jameslee27477 жыл бұрын
He played the other banjo in the solo.

Ronnie Corbett was channelling Minnie Caldwell, and the third one of the trio in the Snug was Martha Longhurst - but the scriptwriters had killed her off by then.

The Coronation Street connection is comparatively thin: it would be more correct to say that this sketch is a takeoff of the late great George Formby!
