today i read that the word "hangover" comes from all these hangings. people would gather in huge numbers for a hanging, it would be made a public holiday and people would drink a lot. so the following day, the hangover, was the day after a public hanging. and everyone felt very seedy that day.

Newgate Prison, from where the "offenders" travelled was East of this site, and so to get to Tyburn you had to travel West. Now you know where the saying "He's gone west" (meaning it or they' are no more) comes from!!

You should look up the journey that Cromwell's head went on after being taken off that pike then. It's a rather well-travelled head now.

Very canny that you picked up the shape of Tyburn Tree mirrored in the tied ornamental tree! Excellent video.

A visit to the site of Execution Dock in Wapping would make another good video - if you can find it :-)

The marker for Tyburn Tree, At Marble Arch, Edgeware Road, Hydpark Corner, In the 1950s there was a Yellowstone triangle in the middle of the road, In front of the Marble Arch. Set in to the road, May be 12'' inches in size. It is not mentioned any more, Scotts Wahaim Whare Walice Bled. Scotts Wahaim Bruce Oft Times Led. He Called, Rise and follow Me. Written by Robert Burns.

I wonder if anything strange happens to people on that spot? What happened to Edmund Campion after his death?

Cromwell’s head was then spirited away, and lies somewhere underneath his old Cambridge college, a location kept secret to this day.

Would some of the poorer criminals, if not taken for burial by their relatives, or dissection by surgeons (or 'Chirurgeons' as they were once known) have been buried under the gallows? I know it was common practice elsewhere.

This presenter made a colossal omission is not making reference to the Tyburn Covent/chapel very nearby which is linked to the spot. Anyone making a visit to the Tyburn Tree should also make a visit to the chapel and soak in the ambience of the place (people quietly pray in there, so important to be silent, respectful and appropriately dressed).

So kind of you to volunteer yourself for this. I do not know what you're guilty of, but we'll find something! Just like has happened to so many people throughout history, punished for the sins of another...

Just wondering, I saw the memorial plaque stating that 105 Catholic "martyrs" met their death there. Do they have one for the many Protestants who were put to death by Queen Mary I? ( (FYI this is why she has the nickname "Bloody Mary")
