WHO IS JIANG YU SHAN:
Jiang Yu Shan (Hisham Al-Haroun) has lived 30 years in Taiwan practicing Kung Fu and Qigong. He is most notably known for being the master of the monkey style but he is also a master in Tai Chi, Bagua Zhang, Wing Chun, Xin Yi Ba and Wu Zhu Quan.
Jiang is a 33rd generation Shaolin disciple and has been nominated 9th Dan (or “Duan”) in Chinese Kung Fu. In addition, he comes from a wrestling family and is well-rehearsed in other martial arts such as catch wrestling (he has a good relationship with the notorious CACC Snake Pit in Japan).
Not only that, Jiang also worked as a special forces (CMC.SCC) drill instructor for over 10 years teaching hand to hand combat, tactical raid, entry team tactics, knife fighting and hostage rescue to Taiwanese special ops. Before that he was an army paratrooper in the German military where he got his initial military education.
Due to his respected status in Taiwan’s society and his high expertise in self-defence, he has served as a bodyguard for several Taiwanese presidents and presidential candidates. A foreigner working as a body guard for a president is extremely rare and unheard of in almost any country in the world.
To test his martial arts skills and proficiency in practice, Jiang has competed in various kickboxing, Sanda, MMA and Karate competitions, winning 7 gold medals. His biggest victory was winning the All Japan Karate MMA competition 2016 in Tokyo, Japan at the age of 45.
Jiang has 40 years of training in Kung Fu and has operated as a respected teacher since he was in his twenties. Now, he is a grandmaster who comes from very rare and pure lineages of Kung Fu and Qigong. This is why his teachings are not only very unique but also more effective than many of the commercial forms of Qigong or Kung Fu you see today.
It’s our privilege and honour to showcase his skills to the broader audience. Enjoy!

@Theurgy Theatre help me understand please, I've only practiced Yoga but this is my way of looking at them. Qigong's focus is phisiological and energetic, meaning its goal is to maximize physical health and function. While Yoga's true goal is in regards of consciousness and expanding one's perception. Improved health being only a collateral effect. What do you think?

This is what I found almost right away: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gOCAq8idvputgGQ.html 349 034 views, almost 3k likes. A lot of Western qigong is exactly like that. They talk in a soft way and talk nonsense about energy, Qi and feelings with zero practical application or proof of anything (you just need to take their word for it). After that, it's possible to find better qigong but it's very standardized movements with shallow level breathing and no deep understanding of the required framework (meridians etc.) and purpose of the movements (benefits and results). That is what the master is really talking about. In the West the qigong is either complete and utter nonsense (feel your energy and abundance in the forest) or very basic / low level understanding of the art form.

imo - my issues are more with words like Chi and Meridians. No matter how you frame them (and in martial arts circles the concepts behind them, as explained to the public, have continually changed over the years), modern science has looked at the concepts and found them sorely lacking (in credibility). Even after practitioners then attempt to mesh the two schools of thought together, modern science research (that is peer reviewed etc) has continued to cast valid doubt on the subject. And supporters of Chi can only point to increases in body temp (to claim that is Chi), rather then what science says (that the person is burning body fat and that causes the temourature increase not 'Chi' or meridians - Ala Tumo Mediation). And, there is a little 'self hypnosis' in there as well (a hypnagogic state) There have been many good studies done over the years (that are peer reviewed), I would advise people search all of them out. You may find there are better ways to achieve your goals, other than old methods of 'Chi cultivation' ;-) Peace.
@Vahvafitness
@Vahvafitness 4 жыл бұрын
Just because there's a peer reviewed study doesn't mean they know what they are doing. You need to take into account who is doing the study (just like in every field, a lot of scientists are not competent) and who is the qigong master (most live in a fantasy world). Just a while ago the science laughed us the ancient methods. Now there are "scientific proof" for most of them. These include the benefits of breathing, cold/hot therapy, fasting, mantras (affirmation/prayers) and even meditation. Science is just thousands of years behind. Similarly, most qi cultivation happens over long periods of time by improving the health and vitality of the body. There are breathing techniques and forms (such as lohan gong) that can cause immediate effects on the physiology of the body in a drastic fashion. We haven't seen this form of training anywhere else. Maybe not all ancient wisdom is 100% correct but the vast majority of it works - but you have to try them out and see for yourself and decide for yourself. Or you can blindly trust the studies and change your mind every week whether coconut is good for you or not. Countless people have healed themselves this way which is a far better option than being dependent on medical prescription with side-effects for the rest of your life.
@Moodymongul
@Moodymongul 4 жыл бұрын
@@Vahvafitness - come on, thats a lame straw man argument if ever I heard one (often stated by believers). The fact is, no-one has come forwards and demonstrated to the scientific community 'Chi' etc. Those that have, busted. All those who currently make such claims ..none step forwards to be tested. Instead I hear what you just stated (science must prove it is false ...etc etc). Just so you know; It is those who make the claim that must prove it is true (creating a thesis/theory). Then, others examine their work and see if they got things correct. THIS is called a basic Peer Review. So to reitterate,, it is not science that needs to prove anything (that is false logic). It is those who claim of the existence of 'Chi' etc. You shouldn't wag your finger at Science, when it it your side that needs to prove Chi exists my friend. :)

@@Moodymongul I think your understanding of Qi is the problem, seems like you think it's some sort of magic and want proof for nonsense. Some masters who live in the fantasy world think this way as well. You don't even know what we are talking about and instead want to focus on semantics when you don't even understand the topic or the framework where the qigong comes from. To even discuss this you should be able to understand the framework of Chinese medicine and qigong first. Western science is not the only one way to understand the body and see the world. Did you know that in Asia, Chinese medicine is incredibly common and widely practiced form of medicine that also works? Western science supports the use of herbs as well. I’m not saying Western science is wrong but it’s not complete knowledge either, rather both systems complement each other. In qigong they see the body as a holistic system where the body thrives when it’s in perfect harmony with itself and the environment around it. Qi literally means the life energy and vitality of the body. Gong means skill. "Qi-Gong" is the skill of cultivating the life energy (vitality). And what is vitality? There is no exact attribute to track but you know exactly when someone is full of "life”, “presence” and “energy”. It's not just your resting heart rate or testosterone levels as a man. It's the balance and equilibrium of your hormonal systems, neurotransmitters, lack of inflammation, strength of the body etc. everything else. Qigong master who is old let’s say 70 years old and is still energetic, vital and full of life is a master of his qigong practice.
@Moodymongul
@Moodymongul 4 жыл бұрын
@@Vahvafitness Firstly its not 'western science' that is at best a bigoted opinion (and very leading in its connotations). It is 'science', world science. As for TCM, I do know a 'little' about it :). Enough to know that any 'medicine' that separates itself from scrutiny by the mainstream/world of science, is not a form of medicine I ascribe to. And would not promote using new age terminology that often goes along with it (instead of direct explanation). As I said, any claims must be submitted to scrutiny by the whole world of mainstream Science. TCM can't just say "we're right, so there." As for the idea that Qigong masters have any more health than others is completely anecdotal evidence (at best). We can see whole populations around the world that live long lives without these Qigong abilities (or TCM). Good eating, healthy lifestyle (no excesses), Its pretty easy (unless you have underlying health problems). For example, my father is 92, lucid, active and healthy. Why? Because he worked all his life, ate in moderation, exercised by walking each day (till today, walking his dog over a common). His personal belief 'always keep moving'. Simple, no Qigong masters, no inner way, just live life in moderation and keep moving. I think I get it, without all the 'woo' :)
@Vahvafitness
@Vahvafitness 4 жыл бұрын
@@Moodymongul That's pretty much what qigong is, a set of practices to take care of the body mostly in a preventive manner. The difference is that in qigong you heal the body naturally, not with a paid prescription that comes with a host of side effects. Many areas, such as breathing, fasting, meditation and forms are also highly developed and work with great success rates for many ailments and problems whether physical or mental. With Western medicine you often fix one problem to get another. Whether you like it or not, science is a Western way of seeing the world and obviously it has conquered the East as well. I'm not anti-science, I just understand the limitations - it's phenomenal for acute problems (surgeries etc.) but when it comes taking good care of the body and preventive medicine, it promotes more sickness than health. In other words, a lot of people would be better off without medicine and pills.
