Have listened to dozens of stories on KZfaq. This stands out by far the best in every respect. Read Folletts books years ago, remembering his name in the first place to choose to listen. Great recording of a great story. even better being true. I'm a novelist. Thanksalot!

how refreshing to hear about the Germans instead of the British - trust Follett to find out and write about this U-boat. Excellent play and thanks for uploading

AWSOME.. I was hoping the box wasn't found and another escaped and blew the boat up, the guy who un-armed the missels got hanged and the captain that waved his shirt was cleared on any wrong doings..

understandable though it is, I cannot listen to it without even an attempt at German accents :')

you could at least make a try at a German pronunciation and use their words for lieutenant, etc. we all understand 'Nein' and 'Ja, mein commandant'. it's 'Shtine' not Stein, for instance. this sounds like a British crew. it spoils it for me - i guess i'm in the minority though. they do the same with a French story. one thing for Hollywood, we do use accents and proper words. it's so much more realistic.

It was made in 1975 for a British audiance. Perhaps you could build a time-machine and complain in person? Personally, I think you're an entitled, whiney, butthole -and I guess I'm not in the minority.

Somewhat disingenuous to change the ending… why was that done?

Nazi judges just aren't as scary with that proper English accent articulating the words (with a mild attempt at a German accent). If found guilty, ye shall be put to death. Cheerio ! Bad casting for that part
