Totally relate, been sober for years...But it can be boring as heck... Drugs & alcohol and fast woman were my hobbies for a couple decades....BUT I HAVEN'T MISSED ONE HANGOVER...👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸

I've been sober for 4 years. Yesterday I watched the football match on tv between my country (The Netherlands) and England. The match was held in Dortmund, Germany and the city was flooded by the Brits and Dutch. The thousands of supporters I saw were almost all under the influence of alcohol to varying degrees. I really understand their joy, but I realized I wouldn't feel comfortable among them. Being the only sober one also means feeling lonely. That's a price I'm willing to pay.

Often times is a matter of habit. You need to focus on retraining your subconscious mind. It also takes some time to recover from whatever substance you were abusing. The longer you were using it, the longer it'll take in most cases. Eat right, exercise and start building other good habits. Try to form new habits that also break some of your old habits at the same time. This will help you kill bad habits faster than just trying to unlearn it, as the new habit forms faster than you can break a habit, thus helping you progress much faster. Good luck man.

Every human on earth does dumb things. Being sober is something to be incredibly proud of regardless of that. Live your best life being 100% you, not someone distorted by alcohol or drugs.

Good thing about being sober is when you do something dumb(which is often when drunk) you don’t feel as down about it and you are much clearer and can understand when things are a big deal or minor.

Exactly. You are clear minded enough to properly process mistakes. Sober mistakes make for a better learning curve of understanding your personal nature

Life in sober mode is boring af. I don’t drink everyday but when I drink, I drink a lot during 3-4 days non stop. I need it to release sometimes. The rest of the month I do my workout 6 days a week but one week per month Im high af. Life is not about being an extreme monk or an extreme drug addict. Life is about balance. Find your balance and do what suit you the best

Great point, and i agree. My problem is i tend to be extreme when i decide i want to do something. Especially if i believe it will help me grow as a person.

I could not agree more - I'm almost 90 days in - no booze....and its boring AF. But....at least I didn't get that DUI, at least I didn't kill someone while behind the wheel, at least I didn't embarrass myself in front of my wife and kids again, at least I was not in a fight or in control of dangerous weapons while under the influence. You see, fear has its place in our daily lives and sobriety has taught me to respect that fear and never ever forget it, no matter how boring it gets. Fear of me under the influence is the thought that keeps me alive and my self-respect in place when surrounded by alcohol and opportunity. In that way, fear is good.

Respect but unfortunately a lot of ppl don’t have the ability to keep that balance and just go off the deep end.

how long you been sober? congrats. It gets better. The idea is to keep making mistakes and changing. FEAR is the prime motivator. Face Everything And Recover.

@lexremillard2549 my whole adult life. Started drinking and smoking when i was 16. Im about to be 31 so ever since then. I will say i never did hard drugs or was truly ‘addicted’ to anything. I drank/smoke enough in my life where it ended up being problematic tho, for sure
