Today we have a complete buying guide for the 2023 Dodge Hornet GT! The Dodge Hornet is brand new this year, reusing the nameplate from the Hudson Hornet in the 1950s and the 2006 Hornet concept. If you’re wondering why this video is only focusing on the Hornet GT, that’s because the R/T is not available for ordering yet. The Hornet was announced as a new compact SUV/CUV last August and looks to be a staple in the lineup for years to come. Dodge has been without a smaller van or SUV for a few years now after the cancellation of the Journey and Grand Caravan, so this looks to try to fill the void a bit.
This video covers the whole lineup and all GT trim levels in-depth. For each model we look at the different features/options, engines, packages, wheels, and interior!

0:31 You forgot the AMC Hornet compact of the 70's. Chrysler got control of the name when they bought AMC in 1987. Hudson had merged with another company to form AMC.

Great "Intell!" I have a 2019 Charger RT with the upgraded Harmon Kardon Surround Sound. That was my best and favorite option. The second best option was The 20" wheels and Brembo Brakes I think Dodge is headed in the right direction with this vehicle. I'm interested but my concern is the 9 Speed Tranny? My 8 speed Auto is perfect

It's crazy the love of turbo 4 cylinder engines that do little to improve gas mileage of 6 cylinder naturally aspirated engines that provided more horsepower. Less power, less mileage. Brilliant!

They're available for bicycles (primarily for those who ride off-road in thorny environments), but they increase rolling resistance quite a lot, making them a workout to pedal. Perhaps a similar effect on fuel economy has made them undesirable for automotive use.

In Canada the base model is over $40,000. I can get a base model Kia Sorento or a Sportage for less, same with the RAV4, Mazda cx5, and many others.

This is a vehicle that excites me very much! I can't wait to see if you can build a Hornet with every single concievable package on it! An R/T Plus / GLH / Blacktop (What packages did I forget? Slap them on too! lol!), anyone? Make all the packages available on one Hornet and I'll make sure I my '16 Dodge Dart GT gets sold to my daughter for going to college!

This is an amazing car to replace the Dodge Journey, it reminds me of the Dodge Nitro, but more modern looking if the Dodge Nitro was continued.

It’s 8 tenths of a second slower 0-60. SRT4 Caliber is 5.7 seconds, this is 6.5 seconds. So closeish but will still feel slower. Don’t know the 1/4 mile time for Hornet yet.

No. It shares a platform with Alfa Tonale, an entry compact Alfa SUV based on FWD one with avaliable AWD.

I think the Hornet will be great for Dodge but makes the Alfa Romeo Tonale a complete nonstarter. The Tonale is rumored to start in the low $60k range. That is way higher than the Hornet GT because the "base" Tonale is PHEV. I don't think that strategy is going to work for Alfa. Base price is just too high.

Really like that they entered the segment. But there is still a million holes in dodges line up. This model would be good to build in Belvidere but of course they are screwing and shipping it from overseas. After cancelling the V8 cars feels like a double whammy and the bad taste in my mouth won't go away any time soon. Thanks stellantis for nothing..

The V-8 is going bye-bye nearly everywhere. V-6s will follow too. It is an electric future. Even Toyota, who had fought the battery trend for years, threw in the towel last week when their CEO, Akio Toyoda, was forced to resign. Toyota is leaving gasoline and going electric. Oldsters are going to have to accept this worldwide trend. Or just baby their gas cars and pay through the nose to keep them running. As for younger folks, they won't even blink. Electric will just happen.

Don't really see battery powered cars as being a proven commodity, they currently hold a small portion of the market. They could take over, but there are several known road blocks to them getting mass adoption. If everyone jumps on the EV horse, can it's legs hold the wait? We'll see.

LOL no thanks. for $31k base price I can get a hybrid Tuscon with 38mpg, higher towing, AWD, VERY similar 0-60 time and the car partially drives itself on the freeway and the safety tech pack this thing charges a fortune for as standard on all models. a fully loaded one is around $44k, including leather, air cooled seats and more. This thing is a poor value compared to other things out there, chrysler still just doesnt get it, especially with its reputation. I can see this being something to tune and make faster, but im going to wonder if it can even handle getting more boost.
