It's just too impractical for me. They're too big for what they do. I hardly ever make rice. I'm not willing to get rid of any of my other appliances to make room for something I'd use once every 2-3 months. Especially, when I can just make it on the stove. It only really makes sense for people who would use it often. Like, I know that most people don't have a comal on their stove at all times, but I do because I use it all the time.

Idea for a video: How does color affect how we taste? Starring Jamie. He gets a plate of colorful food that he can't fully appreciate because he's colorblind. Taste, give opinion. Then, he gets a pair of colorblind glasses. Then he tastes and gives his opinion. Repeat with several dishes. We get an important food question answered, and Jamie gets EnChroma glasses!

His performance in this one lacked behind the other two. Plus the last minute seasoning addition during judging time. It probably tasted amazing, but Jamie did transform something from a restaurant into a dish you could make from home. Mike had tough competition in this one.
@vereflores1240
@vereflores1240 3 жыл бұрын
Mike has been slacking lately. He's more focused on wanting to beat Jamie and Barry when he should be focusing on his dish more and not messing things up (the rice boiling, the ginger bits, sticky rice not being sticky, lack of seasoning in the rice).
@MikuruChan123
@MikuruChan123 3 жыл бұрын
@@alexl1178 I'm slightly inclined to disagree. Okonomiyaki is street food, yes, but it's also something that can easily be made at home. In fact, it *is* made in Japanese homes so... I do think that execution wise, Jamie did a bang up job. I'm still torn between whether I agree with the reasoning behind why he won though...

@MikuruChan123 3 жыл бұрын
@@alexl1178 yes, it is made at home too. "Yaki" is a type of cooking, usually referring to grilling in a certain way. Okonomiyaki literally means "any way you want". If you live anywhere near a Japanese/Asian supermarket, I totally recommend getting the ingredients to try it for yourself. Prior to pandemic, I visited friends in the Bay Area and had a great time making skewers and okonomiyaki.

I LOVE that you guys featured Heinz this week! I actually just wrote a whole paper about H.J. Heinz and how instrumental he was in pushing the US towards more regulation of food! For lovers of food history like me (and Ben) Heinz is an incredible person to learn more about. The History channel did a series called the Food that Made America (or something like that) that featured Heinz in the first episode. Highly recommend it! Thanks for the awesome video, boys! IF and when you ever get to come to America again, you HAVE get Barry (and Sorted crew) to Michigan, or northern Indiana for their freshly harvested sweet corn! There is nothing like it. And thank you Mike, for not salting your rice! It's one of the only times I can recall yelling at the screen, and still walking away saying, "Don't salt the rice, don't salt the rice. Oh good, he didn't put salt in it." 14:27 GASP! JUST SAW THE NOTE! MY HEART SUNK.... TOO FAR! So far they didn't mind.... purist do NOT SALT rice! My mom is really old school Korean, having survived WWII and the Korean War. She's from the southern area of Korea, and we pronounce it [co-kee-jahng]. It's REALLY close to hearing the natural "g" in the beginning - [go-kee-jahng]. Say "kee" fast, and drag the "jahng". It's her way of speaking, and it's very old. No Konglish here!
