Lebanon is a beautiful country of beautiful and resilient people. Beirut should have been one of top 3 tourism destinations of the world but it is not mainly because of poor governance, factional conflicts and bad media coverage. Undoubtedly, they have the best food and sweets. I have been to many many countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America but Beirut has a special place in my heart. Lots of love from Islamabad, Pakistan.

Certainly. And speaking of beautiful people lol, we have a bunch of different looks too. Many of us are tan, many fair. Many even with blonde hair and colored eyes. It's a very nice mix. I know I'd be biased, but I think we're among the best looking people in the world. Anyway, love back to you guys in Pakistan.

You probably noticed that we have a variety of looks, including a lot of people with colored eyes. Many of us are tan, many are also white. I know I'd be biased, but I won't shy away from saying we have a lot of good looking people haha. Btw, as a side note, your pronunciation was great for a lot of those words! First part. Briefing on the origin of the name Lebanon through history and in the writings of other: Homer's Iliad and Odyssey (8th century BC), about events that would occured in the third millennium BC, was first book written in Europe. Andronicus the Roman who translated Homer's work into Latin in the second century BC, provided the following interpretations: Anatoli, which means East/Orient in old Greek, becomes Levante and Hellas is nicknamed Grecia/Greece. Joshua, author of Deuteronomy in 637 BC, used the nickname Levan. meaning white in Hebrew, to describe a country with two-capped mountain ranges, one facing the west and the other making natural rampart toward the East (Syria of Mesopotamia), between which is the fertile plain of Bekaa (called yaa in the Egyptian's tell of the courtier Sinouhe at the XVIII century BC). The story of Gilgamesh XVII century BBC quotes Laban what yogurt would mean. In reality the historians of antiquity will describe the events which took place in the cities of Phoenicia of the historic Levante: Ugarit, Arwad, Byblos/Guebal, Botris/Batroun, Berytus/Beirut, Tyros/Sor which means rock in Phoenician, Sidon/Sidonian Women's skills, Phoenician ships in Iliad and Odysseus, as well as "The Phoenician Women" by Euripides fourth century BC. Please check Letters of Tel-Al-Amarna/Memphis which is about correspondence dating from the fifteenth century BC between the Phoenician kings threatened by the Hittites begging for help from the Pharaoh of Egypt who did not took any action because he himself, Akhenaton iconoclast, was in conflict with the clergy. During the height of Hellenism, Philo of Byblos 50 BC claimed to have translated Sanchouniathon/godgiven, priest of Beirut or Tyrian, is author in the 14th century BC (neither after the Trojan War nor before the reign of Semiramis) fron an encyclopedia into seven volumes of "The History of the Phoenicians), adding one, accusing the others of "distorsion of the history of Lebanon". Additionally please read "Histoire Generale" three volumes by Polybius third century BC. You will learn how the heirs of Alexander the Great will compete for Phoenicia of Lebanon, Cyprus, the Land of the Hebrews and the Palestinians. Seleukus, who inherits upper Mesopotamia founded a city and kingdom of Seleucia wants to take Phoenicia. Ptolemeaus inherits Egypt. The former companions call for arms...Their descendants too: Ptolemy junior must face Antiochus the third who founded the Kingdom of Syria and Seleucia will be called Antioch. The decisive battle will take place at Rafah (border between future Palestine and Egypt) the Egyptian is victorious. Polybius historian and geographer write further that the inhabitants of Phoenicia dancing for joy. We are at the end of the second century BC, the Romans will give the final blow to Antiochus, who in defiance of the treaties, makes a descent in Europe, i.e. into the north of Greece. In the year 1516 Selim the conqueror Sultan of the Ottomans proclaimed Great Lebanon ruled by a Mir of the Druze dynasty Maani. Syria was placed under the suzerainty of Greater Lebanon until 1866. Faced with a new attempt of independence from the Mir of Lebanon Bshir two the Great who marched in the ranks of the Egyptian Ibrahim Pacha leading a succesfully military campaign against the Turks. The English intervene militarily to stop the Egyptian advance saving from collapse the Ottoman empire. Whereupon the Turks put an End to the status of Great Lebanon proclaiming in 1866 Great Syria. After WWI, France reinvested GRAND LIBAN whats going on displease the Turks and governors of Syria, who whatever there religion want to annex Lebanon using all means to achieve this objective, recently civil wars (1860, 1956, 1975 to 1991 under the " diktat of Taef " signed 1988 gaining the complicity of the "secrets societies" of local scene and from West in particular (USA, Germany, United Kingdom, Turkey and Arabs Sunni financiers) for which so-called welcome refugees, approximately three millions Syrians. Moreover falsify of the History of Lebanon victim of genocide. the demography is transformed into "Phagocytocratie". Phonetic and names of neighborhoods are changing to be identical with syrians and arabs localties. For example please do not say DORA or BEDA, say DAWRA, BAYDA, ...SAINT GEORGES not "ZETOUNA baie" etc. Never Lebanon was french colony. Upon a time, the Christian majority was forced to defend land and water by waging war alongside the French Crusaders to get rid of the fanatical Arabs and Saracens from Turkey. Nowadays the wheel has turned, the Turks say that France was a colonial power, even thought it was the Turks who colonized us for four hundred years. France brought culture and knowledge as our Phoenician ancestors did to Europeans. BON COURAGE

Lebanon has been on my bucket list for basically my whole life lol. Should i go to Lebanon with a local or can i visit on my own?

Beirut is a big city but the locals will always help you out same with the rest of Lebanon. You don’t really need a tour with you because any where you get lost ask a local and they will help you out. Beirut, Jounieh, Batroun, Khalde, Sidon/Saida, Tyre/Sour, Zahle, Tripoli, Baalbek, Jbeil/Byblos, Zgharta, Jeita grotto, nabatiya and bint jbeil if you risk going to the Israeli border are all amazing places to visit in Lebanon and many more places. It’s your choice if you want a tour guide or not. Hopefully you go to Lebanon the bride of the middle east

The church next door to the mosque is a much older and more beautiful building. The mosque is about a decade old. The church is much much older. I can understand why it gets ignored - the placement of the mosque is an aggressive act.
