The Ultimate Class 4 Armor Guide For Patch 12.12.30!

Күн бұрынToday I’ll be showing you every armor in Class 4, comparing them all on costs, space, stats and more! We’ll find out which are the best, which are good value and which should be left on the trader’s shelves, including insurance costs which these days differ by trader level.
Although the Trooper and the AVS are probably the two “best” armors in this class, their cost will put many players off, preferring instead something cheap like the ever popular 6B3TM at Ragman 2, or the incredible value ANA M2 at Ragman 3.
With the strength and weight changes in 12.12.30, how heavy an armor is makes a big difference now, and if you’re looking at staying underweight choosing a rig like the Strandhogg could be a great choice.

i miss the mcc being dirt cheap, it was nice having a light, agile lvl 4 armour for cheap with good amount of restock in the trader

It’s always crazy to me how the flea market prices almost always match the value of an item. It’s like collectively, everyone knows about how good an armor is, but they don’t exactly know why, until they watch this video of course. I’m loving the inclusion of insurance cost and insurance likeliness when compared with weight and inventory slot ratios. Lots of things to consider and you do it perfectly!

Your original armor guide was the first and is still the only guide to reall show by how much the material determines the health points of an armor. I wish it was re-written on the ballistics wiki site the way you did.

I've been crafting the M1 Rigs with an insurance returned tier 3 armor or the prapor barder for propane. Also I've bought a few M2 for about 75k sometimes just straight from the market because I don't have Rag3 yet. Been loving both those rigs!

Note about Thor: as it's trader price is 56k, it can be bought from the flea for about said 56k (or a bit less) with a bit of patience and or luck; or (because rogues?) a boken one can be bought for like 47-50k and repaired for like 10k worth of repair kit points to ~90% durability. At which point, i would argue, it becomes a viable alternative to potato (rat) rig if you want to trade some money for better stats and some extra (potential) rig slots to put loot into. (assuming ragman ll2)

Yeah that's fair although I guess 10k plus another 10k rig, starts getting a bit more expensive. Probably should be on Ragman2 honestly

Yeah it just isn’t an obvious idea because it’s locked behind ragman LL3 and at that point there are better options, it would compete better at LL2 I think

I run Thor because it doesn't look like flaming dog ass on your pmc like the rat rig does. And you can fraud your rig for a better one from a scav so you get that passive income

With the amount of people running magnum buck, not to mention shotgun Scavs, it is just not feasible to run armor without stomach protection so my pick is the M2. For example, I killed tagila with magnum buck very quickly through the stomach earlier and he has class 6 plus a huge health pool.

I'm curious, how many wipes have you done until know ? Since information are outdated pretty fast in this game, the timing of releasing your guides is really key. But you know exactly what we gonna need and _when_ we gonna need it. This really amazes me. Also, you're not just saying "use this one, that's BiS", you're giving all the details so we can choose by ourselves the best option depending on our current needs and advancement into the wipe. 10/10 content as usual.

I saw the Eclipse on Tagilla, the 3 3*1 and 1 2*2 does appear very appealing for anyone who wants to go GigaChad with a Sagia 12 (like Tagilla). Didn't take it though, since I'm tagged and cursed, and I'm focused on grabbing his gun and mags over the destroyed armor (I killed him with a PP-19 mag dump)

Hmm I usually start doing specific weapons at that stage, because it doesn't really matter so much what the traders have at LL3/4 because most of the time we end up using the flea market

6B23-2 is good armor, its light and you can repair it couple of times and it protects both thorax and stomach. it beats all the heavy lvl 4 armored rigs with limited storage space, being 3 to 6kg lighter than these and the mmac and the like without stomach protection.

They ruined the MMAC barter by making it take a whiskey instead of 2 fabrics or 1 before it got nerfed. Its like a $70k+ barter now for a class 4 with no stomach. 63btm is just cheaper. Its just there so you dont get 2 shot by PS AKs early wipe.

The thorax-only protection on it is actually a plus, because it's hard to die from stomach wounds and they're the most treatable in the game, while if the thorax gets zeroed you are dead. With armor that is thorax-only, if someone sprays you in full auto and lands six hits across both your stomach and thorax, and 3 of those rounds land in each zone, the durability of the armor takes less damage because it's only protecting what it needs to in order to keep you alive (thorax), and you can patch up your stomach wounds with your medical gear and continue your raid with armor that's still functional. With armor that protects both stomach and thorax, that same spray of rounds hitting it might completely zero out the armor's durability in one fight, leaving you vulnerable to getting immediately one-tapped or two-tapped by the very next Scav or player who you run into, even by non-AP rifle ammo.

@@DoritoWorldOrder Except stomach has a 1.25x damage multiplier after it's blacked out, so if you're getting sprayed in the stomach with any round that has decent flesh damage, your armor remaining fresh won't matter since your thorax will get hurt by proxy. Thorax + Stomach protection is almost always preferable to Thorax alone, with a handful of exceptions for ultra high pen but low damage rounds

AVS is by far the best given that it gives stomach protection, has 4 slot slots, and low ergo penalty and weight.

ANA M2 all the way - you may have missed the most important point about it: you can get it on the flea for 80-100k pretty regularly. I have 5-6 of these at any point in time and love them: excellent protection, cheap to run, get them back frequently, easy to obtain and don’t need to have a separate rig. My fav by far

Avs should be #1 you get stomach protection and a rig, So if u buy a trooper and have to get a rig with the same size as the avs you're paying another 20-30k on top of the 85-100k. So the only trade of is 15 more armor health points vs stomach protection.

If this is Customs I've only been checking the stash on the other side of the road for all these wipes (the one that is pushed up against the hill that is all the way to the northeast with the round barrel cache in the ground). very good video as always but i think it should be mentioned that 7.62x39 PS was buffed to 35 pen making it more effective against level 4 meaning spending thousands on armor that may get penned by a scav is likely not a smart idea

Question for the more experienced players. Considering penetration chance increases as the remaining durability drops, when is a good time to ditch a damaged armor? I guess that depends on your armor class vs what ammo type you're expecting to get shot by, but is there a decent rule of thumb? When I'm lucky enough to survive a few raids in a row with the same armor or I get insurance returns, I'm not sure when it's time to stop repairing it and get a new one. I start getting nervous once it's below 80% of it's original maximum but I'm unsure when an armor has truly become untrustworthy.

You can check on the Battlebuddy app to get a good idea, but very roughly 50% dura it's the same for the next shot as the class down. So yeah I usually don't go below about 75% and I use those ones for budget/cheap questing runs

I think one of the reasons the lavatory crafts don’t make much sense is because they’re more geared to give hard-core or other purchase restricted play styles an opportunity to turn random broken gear into something valuable.

Yes there are quite a few things that make sense for hardcore, that we just don't use in the regular game. Maybe will become more useful on 1.0?

@@Gigabeef I hope so they have talked before about trader inventory being different at launch and I think expanding trade and craft options, while limiting total number of items you can purchase per reset could be a way to balance casual vs grinding gamer types. Like some barters being changed to only being able to use the barter to purchase an item once per reset and maybe some incentive for longer crafts. I think some of the intent with the longer crafts is that they are intended to be used during your offline time. Hopefully it works out in the end, but right now I agree that there is little need for them.

@@bob89377 The strandhogg is a lvl 3 ragman trade, which requires you to be lvl 32.So unless you are above lvl32 you don’t really have many other options.

Maybe its just me, but i found alot of success running paca and triton . Very low weight, protect from scav, each raid I play very much focusing on surviving because i love the game’s immersion. I do not camp but rather walk most place and not always run. Low weight make me make less noise lol even with loot. I bring good gun and bullet and go for medium to long shot. I try to keep myself out of cqb if i can help it. With BP in a budget sks, it does wonder. 2 tap anything

Hi can u test the new lvl 6 armor the tt sk that u can get from ragman lvl 3 for less than 150k I think is more like armor lvl 5+ that can stop 1/2 more mid tier rounds I was trying to test it but got double tap by m62 and second time got head eays by ss190 so i dont think i did good job testing it.

HOnestly they should just buff durability of some of the Level 4 Class armors that exist here, either in Durability (especially for the Thorax armor only) or nerf the debuffs

They should add more level 4 Vest armor because they keep adding armored rigs and there are no new vests

There's a case to be made for stomach protection but arm protection just isn't worth it. I'd rather my arms soak up survivable damage that would otherwise shread my armor and leave my thorax exposed. If 2 clean shots to my thorax are lethal and my armor can absorb 5 shots, I'd rather my opponent be forced to land 7 direct thorax shots for the optimal TTK instead of 7 shots anywhere on my upper torso. Basically, it's often better to let your naked arms tank damage for your armor.

Pretty much always yes. Those two massive armors CAN be ok because their dura is so high, but they will get shredded much faster in the process

Those drives wont be dropping in price any time soon, they're also the drives you need to craft intel, so sadly MFD are going to be pain in the ass to get.

With my current experience, I think by the time I reached Ragman 3 (was first wipe for me) it was T5 or you die. Gzel or corrund + blackrock rig is all I saw on people like 70% of the time. I wonder what will happen this wipe. Hopefully things will be different.

The question is, where is the crossover from 3 to 4? is there a point where you'd take one of the better lvl3 armors over a lvl4? Generally durability wise if Im picking up, I use the 50% mark, if its under 50% of its original health, I'll stick to the lvl4 (compared to a 100% lvl3) -- But what about something like the lesser 6b23/6b5/6b13 vs some of the better lvl3s?

The issue is Class 3 just sucks against almost everything. It only protects vs 27 pen and lower roughly - but in raid yeah it's about 50% of a Class 4 equivalence to Class 3, just have to remember the durability of the C4 is likely to be quite low at that stage

@@Gigabeef Doesn't it still provide a small bit of damage reduction, even if pen'd? Im thinking of just running cheaper class 3s simply for the slight damage reduction so I can tank another hit while I run away, while also providing some protection against those random scav hits. Though lately like 70% of my deaths are head-eyes or head-jaws so I guess its less of a factor.

You made a mistake at 2:02 The effective durability of the armor plays a role in how much damage is absorbed by armor if it penetrates.(its not a super big difference but its another benefit) Trooper will never get 1 shot by 366 AP , but some low durability class 4 can occasionally get 1 shot

Not at 100% I'm pretty sure. I believe the mitigation is dependent on the Class/current durability only - but I'm not absolutely certain!

@@Gigabeef i didnt do testing myself , but i remember old testing videos(and to my knowledge the mechanics didnt change) and higher effective durability armors were less likely to get one tapped/more likely to absorb damage. Doesnt impact many cases these days with 85 thorax health , and durability itself is a much bigger benefit but im 99% sure its there. Would be fun to see some armor tests, shame Vox_E doesnt upload anymore , he used to do a lot

Mmac should have vodka instead of whiskey as trade and 6.2 weight because its such a small rig and only covers chest

i never buy the 6b3tm i kinda hate that rig... sometimes if someone got a too cheap kit with that armor i just take everything and reset the run just so the person gets nothing back... i most of the time just always go in with trooper as soon as i hit lvl 15

Half way though the video. Great video. But I have one thing to say. The only class 4 armors worth using are the mmac, tv-110, and the trooper. Honestly these armors are complete tanks in my experience. Especially the mmac
