Cosworth modified the heads for the RS just so that it wasn't the same as 2.3 mustang..... The problem was that they ran out of the specific cosworth head,,, gaskets needed for the RS, so to keep the production lines going some joe smo decided it'd be ok to fit 2.3 mustang head gaskets "as its the same engine" 🤣🤣🤣 to keep the line running,, Ford kept quiet until they started overheating because of incorect gaskets and had no option but to do the lot in a recall wether they'd started to go or not.

They were made in Germany, and imported to the states. That’s why the build quality is better than your average focus.

@@james8287 LOL Made/Assembled in Germany does NOT equal greater build quality. Let me tell you some stories. About 35,000 Focus RS's were built in Stuttgart, Germany across roughly 36 Months of production. For just over 11 months which is roughly 11,000 Cars, they built them with the wrong head gasket. This head gasket for the 2.3 ECO boost that was for the Mustangs (you can read about it) but this effectively made every one of these engines a literal ticking time bomb. After some of the first engines completely failed in glorious fashion with less than 10,000 miles on them. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my 2017 RS but it's not any "Higher Quality" than something built in the states simply because it's built in Germany. I'm an original owner of a 2014 ST (Trim Level 3) and I'll say it's been put together with impeccable quality. I've got 130,000+ Miles on it and the only Maintenance I've done has been Oil, and Brakes. It had an issue with a Coolant hose but only after I nailed a opossum @ 90MPH and it obliterated my front splitter, louvers, intercooler and cracked my radiator. It's been a problem free Gem for 130,000 miles and I still drive it like a bat out of hell. I'd say for it being built in the Motor City of America (Metro Detroit) that's pretty damn good quality. The interior is no joke either Full Leather the seats are still in great condition no cracks, no stitching coming out. The embroidery is still great. My biggest and only complaint is rust, but I'm in near the 45 parallel in NA and I see my fair share of snow, salt, rain. and it's never been garaged... so I guess my complaint is not that warranted. Also, regarding your impression of quality being determined by where something is built. I've been employed in the auto industry for over 18 years. I promise you that it doesn't matter where your vehicle is built there will always be potential for a mistake or recall and there are so many things that have to come together to guarantee the quality of a build. Also sometimes the appearance of quality misleads you to make assumptions. i.e. BMW makes fantastic vehicles both with performance and beauty, this might make you think wow German built cars are "High Quality" well. Then you have the Ford Focus (standard model) running from 2012 - 2018 that had more transmission recalls than there are rainy days in Seattle. So one might think Oh BMW Awesome, Made in Germany, Ford Focus with that new transmission.. Crappy Made in America. Only Did you know that transmission that caused Ford a headache for almost a decade was actually manufactured by a German company??? BOOOM Just Blew your mind. There are countless stories in automotive involving every company that makes something that rolls a person from point A to point B that are just like these and non discriminate by location of production 🙂 Anyway to the actual video: Focus RS = Awesome, Focus ST = Also Awesome, Great video.

If it’s 2018 miles must be 10k or below. I’ve seen 2018s going for over $50k with a couple thousand miles.

Bad comparison. Golf R looks boring, sounds boring, and the performance is not worth the price.

I absolutely love my RS. It still doesn't feel old, isn't rickety, I'm not sure about that you mean by cheap but mine has held its value extremely well, and is a lot of fun.

I'm afraid you'd be emabarrassed as hell to compare your Golf with the RS on WET surfaces. End of story. Your camchain snapped yet !!!

You’re right, it’s not close. Golf R’s get left for dead when trying to run with an RS.
