Instead of making a H, I make full squares (with a vegetable crop in the middle) to make horizontal breeding at the same time as vertical. If you alternatered white and red for example, you cah have 4 hybrid spots for 4 mother flowers instead of only 2 hybrid spots with your technique. If well organised, you can even chain them and have an uninterrupted grid. Just make a large flower field with one space between vegetable crops spots, horizontally and vertically.

Thank you so much for doing this. I just turned 55 and have been searching for a game to play for years. They were always to difficult or complex for me. I wanted something relatively eqsy so i would want to continue and not quit. I found this game quite a while back but it still took me awhile to get started. The flowers had me stumped. I super appreciate the info. And wowza! Your farm is BEAUTIFUL! 😍

8:53 So... I did the H pattern but left the middle of the H open. (I had previously been doing the full square.) First day of new seeds, TWO PLOTS had seeds in the middle (diagonal) square. I checked to see what flowers it was coming from and they were diagonal. Maybe it's bug... maybe I misread the colors. I finished the story. 40 hours is too short! lol (I never say that.) Now I get to mess about and do all the things I wanted to do when the story was making me feel like I had to push through. They better have some chonky DLC next. Thanks for the video. The guide is super helpful too.

Possible spoiler for spring year 1, Mayor Merritt will give you a two part quest for the Bloom Festival on the 28. I got the quests about a week before the festival. When i completed the second quest, i got some magenta trillium seeds as a reward. The quests are timed, but if you have a decent amount of money for seeds and recipes to build decor of any flower pot, you'll be fine. I placed 3 happy fish vases around my house and farm to complete the second quest. This is the only way ive found to get any of the 3 later game flowers early, unsure if theres other ways.

I remember I was doing flower breeding after finishing the story but got bored after a while as I didn’t understand it 😅 then stopped playing. Thank you for sharing! Was scratching my head about why the flowers I had weren't counting towards the wing recipes, then I noticed that they had to have a specific colour make-up on the almanac. Omg ive been waiting for 2 in game years before googling how to breed flowers! I thought i had to harvest the flower to get them to breed! Ugh! Needless to say i have a huge amount of basic flowers in my storage only a few hybridz which i guess i didnt cut as soon as they were ready. So thank you. I’ve also found you can cut out the middle man sometimes - like if I want to make a pink hyacinth I’ll have a blue hyacinth and a red rose & lots of times I’ll end up with a blue hyacinth still but it has 1 red gene so then I breed it directly with a pink rose instead & that seems to give me pink hyacinths quicker than waiting for a red hyacinth to breed with a white lily 😊
