One PRO tip: Before you decide to wage war on some faction, and take their Town, do this: Before you declare war (or attack some of their troops)go to the target town. Buy all food, then declare war and start the siege. Garnison without food will die off in a matter of days and you have an easier job to take it. The next step is crucial. Once you take the town, before all caravans enter into town YOU sell all your food and earn a lot of money and gain huge XP.

This is a great strategy to use! I'm working on a world conquest right now and have used it a few times - It works VERY well. The only problem is the town is a bit weak once we take it, but that can be fixed in time :)

When you do the "Hostile Trader" and the town troops drop, don't attack. Let them Rebel, then attack. Once a Town Rebels, the Loyalty resets to 100. After you take it, you won't have to work as hard to restore it.

@@Strat-Guides You can actually make it a lot easier by selling the town a forged two-hander and draining the town's money to 0 at the same time you buy all the trade goods. That way caravans coming into the town can't offload any of their goods at all because the town can't afford to buy anything. You only have to buy everything up and do it again at noon, when the town's production produces new goods/money for the caravans to buy up/sell to again. Causing a rebellion isn't guaranteed though, if the AI decides to run festival and games/has a good governor, it takes forever. But the upshot of this is you don't lose money, since you can forge expensive two-handers and buy up junk weapons to smelt into more raw resources to turn into expensive two-handers. Good way to break a city, but it's time consuming.

@@JohannKwan Does that mean I can basically form a kingdom without declaring war on that faction ?
@JohannKwan
@JohannKwan 2 жыл бұрын
@@Teufelsnachbar667 yes. But like I said it does take forever. As in the original video it's best to find a low level town already struggling with loyalty and food stocks. Drain the food stocks daily and force the loyalty levels down to starvation. Higher level towns will be much harder since the AI will have buildings and things to offset the loyalty loss. While you're at it hit the forge every day after you drain their goods and keep forging the best thing you can. I also buy up cheap weapons/armour to dump for troop XP (if you have the perk) or to smelt for crafting materials. Make sure the shop's money is the negative every day when the money rolls over and the town won't be able to buy anything from the caravans.

The hostile trader strategy was actually the cause of a near financial panic in 1907. I mean it didnt involve rebel gangs but just barely. A pair of financial brothers who owned a bank and were the founders of United Copper tried to corner the copper market by grabbing all the stock of United Copper, concocting a plan to basically speculate on it at a lower price and using insider trading to drive the price down before that(at least this is what I think the plan was.) The plan backfired, price went up, they were forced to cover the cost difference because speculation is just gambling, and when the plan failed the bank they ran also failed, they were ruined and they were unable to pay out to their customers so a domino effect happened. The situation was only bailed out when JP Morgan held a meeting with other top financial leaders and was able to "convince" them to help..... meaning he locked a group of bankers in with him and refused to let them go until they agreed to put up the money to stabilize the situation. He also put his personal money up to buy all the New York City Bonds to make sure the city did not become insolvent as during the panic people were cashing out their bonds as fast as they could, worried they would be worthless soon- this isnt blind panic, these people had all lived through the multiple financial crises of the late 1800s, including what would be known as the great depression had the 1929 crash not happened. Because of this the federal government was then able to step in to do the rest, but at the speed of bureaucracy there's no way they would have triaged the situation in time like Morgan was able to. Remember when bankers actually cared about people? Seems really foreign and almost fictional, doesn't it?

I have a slow yet efficient strategy, buy pack animals (preferably mules because they are more expensive) and go to the city states that don't produce horses and sell the mules: 1. First gather about 3-4k mules, once you pass level 20 most Aserai and Khazuit horse farmers will have hundreds of mules, and then start your migration. 2. Sell the mules so that the city gold marker doesn't go in the negative, make sure it has no less then 0 - 20g. 3. DO NOT LEAVE THE CITY, wait in the city for about 2 days and buy back your mules. 4. Go to another city -state and repeat steps 1 - 3 SIDE NOTE: If you continue to find mules and pack horses that are around the 20-30g price range per animal you can buy then along the way and slaughter them for meat and sell it in cities that lack food. Also it helps if you are not at war with any faction and have around 100 troops to keep the looters and bandits away. This method is slow but once you're around 200 trade I found it to be the most efficient. And also easy.

For players wanting a fast way to get to Trade 300 using the skills in your video... This can be done without leaving the city by “playing the market” - Ideally, you should have 50-100+ of each horse tier: pack animals (sumpter horses/mules); T1 Horses (riding horses); T2 Horses (war horses). Of course, it can be done with a single type of horse, but it’s easier to prepare for with several horse-types. - You will also need approx. 500k-1mil Dinar reserve (or smithing to recoup losses by selling weapons to the city) - Find a city with relatively high prices on horses categories (usually Vlandia or northern part of Battania) The procedure is fairly simple: 1. Sell to make profit: Sell each type of horse to the city while still “in the green” (still making money on the trade). End transaction. 2. Decrease prices: Sell all remaining horses to the city to reduce the price (The more horses you sell the lower the price will be for the next round and the more profits you will make). End transaction. 3. Increase demand/price: Buy all of the horses from the city to raise prices and prepare for your next round of selling. (This is where you will lose some money. It is possible to min/max quantities but it’s time consuming). End transaction. 4. Repeat the process. It’s important to end each transaction before starting the next one. The game calculates experience 1XP for every 2 Dinars in profit. By lowering the prices in Step2 and then raising the price in Step3 you will create maximum profit margin by for selling to city in Step1. Basically, it’s like going to Aserai lands, buying horses and returning to sell in Vlandia/Battania, but without leaving the city - time saved but some costs involved.
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides 2 жыл бұрын
So let me make sure I understand this - you are pushing the price to the min and max and trading both sides? The price decreases with volume, but if you had infinite horses, you wouldn't get a negative number, so there is obviously a limit - are you suggesting you have enough trade goods (horses in this case) to hit that limit? Horses would be the perfect because the markup between buy and sell is the lowest in the game. (I saw your reddit post first, sorry for the duplicate response)
@stanp120
@stanp120 2 жыл бұрын
@@Strat-Guides there’s a limit and the more you sell - the less impact each successive unit makes. In practice, I use 100-250 horses/animals if each category. Of course, Aserai horses are the biggest money maker (so sell them first) and use other war horses to lower the general price.
@Nurk0m0rath
@Nurk0m0rath 2 жыл бұрын
@@stanp120 Sneaky. I like it. So you sell the aserai first and buy them back first, when the price is lowest/highest. This should also mean you can force the demand even in a city that's normally flooded with horses of a particular category. I'm currently doing an aserai horse run in vlandia, so I'll give this a try. edit: tried this out and it does work, though progress slows pretty dramatically after a while. I was still getting a level or two after each aserai horse sale even up to 125, but that's nowhere near the 4 or 6 levels I was getting each time at around a hundred skill. I got my best results selling about 15 aserai horses and then flooding the market with 40 or more other warhorses (had a hard time collecting more to try it). I'm guessing this would work best with imperial chargers as the secondary horse. The real benefit of this method is that it can be done over and over on the same day, potentially getting you up to 125 skill and extra renown much faster. Perhaps a slightly simpler version would be to still continue the trade route, but carry a bunch of imperial chargers to flood the azerai markets before buying their horses, then buy out all the warhorses in the target city before selling them, carrying those horses back to azerai lands and flooding their markets again. That would maximize the profits on the singular sale and should maximize trade xp. But this method does work, in game time, instantly. It occurs to me that the same thing could work for steel, since iron ore and all the ingots are also linked in price. Sell some fine steel from smelted pugios and then flood the market with crude iron or iron ore. I wonder how much profit that could net ... hmm. The horse trades are definitely better. Because of the way iron ore prices drop, I was only able to sell 6 fine steel ingots for 400, then buy them back for 250 after pouring 80 crude iron into the market. So that would take a while.

From my experience (I just reached 300 trade on my current save) pack animals are one of the best trade goods, especially for early game. Buy them in khuzait and then roam across the map (not necessarily to aserai who have pretty cheap pack animals too) selling them. You need a decent army (tier 1 troops with minimum wage will do) to avoid herd penalty.
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides 2 жыл бұрын
NIce, 300 takes some dedication! I usually get my pack animals from Battania because I keep forgetting to go to Khuzait area. Do you have a specific route you take after leaving Khuzait or just roam the whole world?
@Michal235
@Michal235 2 жыл бұрын
@@Strat-Guides I just roam around the world, of course buying and selling a lot of other stuff using the ~40k capacity from the herd because after some time in the game it's getting really random where you'll get a good price for pack animals. I mean it's never in khuzait of course :D at my current save I buy mules for less than 30 easily at khuzait and sell them for more than 60 (sometimes the price starts at 150-200) in literally random places across the map, most of the towns have the mule price set around 40 most of the time. When the game has already last some time, the economy is really varying from its initial state, so it's getting tricky to keep to a single good route, for example one of the best profit margins (working in big quantities which is obviously crucial) in my current save is selling beer to vladians or tools bought from sturgians to aserai (both at average ~50 margin per unit)

At 4:22 , the profit was 12.2% more if having level 300 against having level 1. This percentage depends on how much the normal profit you get from the transaction - if you buy with 10 and sell with only 11, the increase in profit due to trading level 300 is growing at 45% (sell price is 11.22, which returns 1,144,889) . If selling with 20, the increase in profit is lower (20.4 sell price, 2081616 total profit, which means +8%) . So it helps more if the sell price is not that high compared with the buy price. Buying with 10 and selling with 15 is a good average. Great video, I want to see the black box of mechanics cracked :)

It's definitely 0.34%, I must have misspoke in the voice over. In most of the tests that I ran, day 1 trading wasn't as effective as other methods I'm more familiar with. I'll have to grab some of the trade knowledge of yours! We should do a 25 day trade challenge, I bet that would be great fun and I would learn a lot from it. Yeah I think I put about 5 or 6 perks in there as quickly as I could, but It was running long so I decided to leave it at that. My plans for the future are to finish off the rest of the skills and then cover perks separately. My thoughts were doing them altogether would be too long and I would get very short view times. Should include the village trade xp exploit. Buy all of a trade good to raise the price, sell all to tank the price and buy them back to reset the purchase price, then take the cheap goods to a village of the town with hyper inflation. Sell your goods for max profit but no money to just buy trade xp. Like this, buy 3k grain and force the price from 3 den to 40 den. Sell at a close town to tank the grain back to 3 den, buy it back at 3 den. Take grain to village of original town for 30 den per grain. The Denars wont change at villages, although you dont get money. So sell 3k grain from 3den for 30 den each. That is 27 xp per grain. Raw 81 000 trade xp. Add the xp multiplier of say... 10 that's 810 000 trade xp. Do it with horses for easier profit.

So while I didn't find anything new here, maybe you'll be interested in what I was looking for: - How town cash reserve is estimated. I've noticed that cities where I sold overpriced smithing goods have much higher cash later on than ones in which I mostly sold legit goods. - Single town: measure garrison (quality as well as quantity), and Cornicopia-starve them. You can starve a city by drowning them in variety of foods. If food is in green, city will buy it off the market and boost prosperity, this is meant to balance hearth growth. But if you flood the market and then stop - the city will enter starvation process. What troops do they lose and how long until the process stops? - Village economy sabotage: buying local goods and selling horses, wine, furs, tools and velvet (probably others, but these were stated explicitly in patch notes) boosts the village. But what happens if you sell your equipment there? What happens if you leave the village with no goods to sell or no money? - Village economy maintenance: reverse of the above. When you enter a village as an army, other parties tend to buy out local food to 0, but only if it's a friendly village. Does it help to leave some food after such accidental raid, or does lack of food not affect the village? Village economy: when villagers travel to a city does a set of goods get generated to sell, and then what they purchase - or do they actually take goods out of a village, buy actual goods in city and try getting them to the village? High prosperity villages will often have ie cows, cheese and butter. Is it possible to give a boost by ie selling livestock where grain is made, how long if at all does livestock stay in village? Does selling non-rpduced food item increase the amount that'll be available to deliver to city? High/low prices - what are the effects on caravans, villages (connects to the above, do villagers actually SELL their items based on current pricing) if we take care to keep prices low/high within same spectrum. Taking Tyal as example - do we help the city by keeping the fish price at 9 or 12 over a given period of time? How if at all does long term price affect city prosperity and it's villages hearths? Will caravans still buy the 12g fish in same amount or would 9 price yield better results as goods instead of gold is measured for the city-agent? What if we only buy at city, what if we only buy at villages? I'm pretty amazed how much is already in the game, and TBH it actually makes me want to take a crack at modding just to implement some gameplay effects for which there is already foundation laid out within the game. Particular dream: equipment sold at villages that is then used by militia.

@@havardherskedal2952 thank you for reminding me! So I started at one town and bought all good that were dark green. Went to another town and saved the game. I sold my goods, then exited, when back in and bought what I needed. The XP gain was +1 level to 251 and 29,047XP towards 252. Then I reloaded, bought all the dark green, then sold in the same screen without exiting and the XP was +1 level to 251 and 29,060. Almost the same XP, only off by 13 (with 10x multiplier so only 1.3XP). I wasn't happy so I did one final test - I got rid of everything and then went to a fresh town, bought everything they had, exited, went back in and sold them back their same goods and earned +1 level and 29,687XP. The flashing lights at the start almost gave me a seizure. I closed my eyes fast enough to avoid it. Btw I would recommend picking up the herd perk in the rider skill tree. It reduces heard penalty by 50% (rounded up.) It pretty much lets you stay around 5.1- 3 movement speed with as many horses, livestock, and pack animals as you can afford. This also means that your carry capacity is pretty much void, since you won't have to worry about the overburden penalty.
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I only did that once, never again. Sorry about that! Yes!! That's probably my favorite perk from riding, it's soooo good (but also bugged lol it's not supposed to be like that). They calculate the overburdened reduction on 2 other perks by adding a debuff that scales WAY past the 0 point (1M lbs over weight will have -10000MS lol but min is still 1), but herding penalty is not the same even though it should be so I suspect that will get patched at some point. Until then, it's my favorite way to trade!

another video idea is playthrough perks commenting on what perks to take for conquest, diplomatic, trade and other types of play, one for general, and perhaps benefits of some in combination, as well as a party character perk setup for playthroughs and for ones to employ then make lords. How about winning without force or trade? What if somebody wanted to rule the world as the Sturgian Surgeon by maximizing on health as their prime objective? Don't let the Prussians forget Brandenburg :) Does leading an army of your clan increase leadership as much as having outsiders in the army? In this case does size matter?
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides 2 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea, I actually have plans for doing a series of builds with examples of how and when to put your character's points, what to do in the different stages of the game, etc. I'm still working on the planning phase for that though. That's an interesting idea, although I'm not sure how one would expand without trade or battles. Maybe through charm?? So the leadership XP only depends on how many troops are in the army and it doesn't matter who owns the troops. So call everyone you can when working for leadership XP :)
@markj2305
@markj2305 2 жыл бұрын
@@Strat-Guides So quantity counts in leadership, thanks. No mention of amount of armies formed so I suppose that does not matter. The idea of Sturgian Surgeon is just fun in making the main character as chief medical officer and having the best health in the game, they would do better in recovery, and healthier cities, perhaps needing fewer resources, and moral perks would be nice. Yes, charm would tag along with good health perhaps. I could see a perk if the main character is the best, scout, engineer, etc in the realm. When to allocate would be a good video. I hope you do it. Once per day, they make 1/3 of their equilibrium balance so you just need to make sure you keep them at 0 food AND 0 denars. my only question is for the green for sales, when I buy products at a green price its usually expensive, and when I sell them on a red price its usually cheap, Mules that I bought for 140, can sell them at 61 and 61 is in red (also the mules were too expensive but I needed these)
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides Жыл бұрын
So green on the buy side indicated the price is lower than the world's average and green on the selling side indicates that there is profit relative to what you bought the item for. If your mules are lighting up green still based on those prices, you might have bought some at a really good price before you bought the 140 ones and it's still a good enough price to make money. For example, if I buy 99 mules at 50 and then 1 at 140, it will cost average them out, meaning your average purchase price will be something like 51, so even selling for 61 will still yield a profit. I hope that makes sense!

On the whole seller opinion, if you aren't focusing trade, appraiser is superior since it increases loot profits, if you are pumping trade to buy fiefs, whole seller is way better since it increases xp gain

I like that last part about the hostile trade, i used a similar method to get settlements without causing wars (pre kingdom) I have a question, i’ve been super frustrated lately on trying to start my own kingdom but the sudden pouring of war declarations and insanely high tribute payments really make me go back to a previous save How long would it take to achieve say 10 million denars? Currently im at 400k with about four settlements, and five workshops - i want to get good with trading to achieve this money

I just googled it and I know exactly what you're referring to - turns out I'm an idiot in the end haha but the software I was using is called Notion, which is similar to Airtable from what I can tell. Notion is free, so I'm sure it's much simpler than airtable. I use it for a lot of things actually, from managing all of my projects, todo lists, tracking business KPI's, personal fitness stuff, etc. so It's pretty flexible. I've used it as a CRM in the past as well, although I gotten out of that business since then.

Hang on, at 12:25 you say 'red is the best' for selling. But that clearly isn't, perhaps not anymore? I dunno, I've just started learning the whole trading thing in this game, but all the items that have a red price in my inventory when in a town are much lower than what they are at green in other towns? Same when buying, red = high price (don't buy at red, costs too much). They probably updated it so a green price when buying = cheap, and when selling the green = making the most money.

So I think I’m not selling in high enough quantities but I sell armor, horses, food items all the time. I have 1 caravan and the only time my trade xp went up was from buying and selling for trade rumors within a very quick amount of time. I tried selling iron, steel, wrought iron bars. Which I saw as highlighted “green” and my trade xp did not go up after selling 5 each. So what am I doing wrong? Also on Xbox if that matters
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides Жыл бұрын
I don't think you can get trade XP from selling gear (weapons, armor, arrows, etc.) because the price is pretty much the same across the board so there is no margin. I would focus on trade good and you'll probably need high volume to even make a dent. Trade XP is a real grind unfortunately.
@Anorandir

Have you noticed some nonsense concerning average price et marked %? Multiple times, when I buy a certain quantity of the same good, while the price increase as it should, the marked % goes backward. For exemple: starting price of oil is 30d, being market at -50% but when I slide up to buy more, this % will go to -60%/-70% even if the price is actually increasing. Ps: I did a clean install just to make sure and the nonsense still persist.

Hm... I can't say that I've come across that one myself. Did you notice if the market was actually doing that or if perk was just bugged? I'm curious to see if there was some sort of connection between buying it in that town and it effecting prices everywhere (think quantum entanglement lol) or if it was just the perk not calculating properly.

If I buy a workshop. Change it and later give it up. Will it revert to the original shop? Or remain what I change it to? And will it change later if the AI realises all of their shops sell the same product.

Great question!! I know I've done it before and they didn't change it so I decided to load up a game and try it out. I bought all the shops in Balgard, turned them into Silversmiths, waited a few months (they were basically making 0, 0 & 17 denars per day by the end lol) and then sold them all. I waited a full year and they were still silversmiths! So you can still go around, buying up shops and ruining the market. You could be the only one with beer workshops in your towns and dominate ;)

If you want to use Everything Has a Price to buy settlements, is it absolutely required for the player character to have the perk, or can you have a companion in your party who has the perk and make the purchase that way?
@Strat-Guides

So that perk is tagged as "Personal" which means it would apply to that character only. Unfortunately you cannot get your companions to initiate a barter for you, so you would have to have the perk yourself.

12:26 when you say "sell red" you mean "red in the buyer's inventory" not red in the player's inventory, right? If you have Trader Level 50, then my understanding is: items which have a price that is above average will be listed as red in the traders inventory. However, if the player purchased those same items at lower prices then the price in the player's inventory for the same commodity will be listed in green in the player's inventory. So my rule of thumb was "buy green from trader inventory / sell green from player inventory" and using that I seemed to be doing pretty well in terms of my total assets growing, so either I was getting lucky somehow or else I'm misunderstanding what you are saying in your video (or else they changed how the relative values are displayed). This is one aspect of TW's design I find unnecessarily vague. The first function that is unlocked with trader skill is that profitable items (in one's inventory when in the trade screen) are listed as green. This shade of green gets lighter (less vibrant) as the price approaches the price at which the commodity was purchased (or else the "average" price for the stack if the stack comprises portions which were purchased at different prices). I believe this functionality is unlocked at level 25? I'm almost certain that this is how that level of trading UI works as I've observed it. Then when you get to Level 50, you unlock the "Item prices shown relative to average" (which presumably means: the median or mean price for a commodity for the ENTIRE game world at any given time is compared to the list price for the commodity in the trade screen and then the characters are displayed in different shades depending on how much lesser or greater the price is compared to the average: green meaning price is low; yellow approximately average; red above average.
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides Жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly, sorry I should have clarified that better. Essentially green is a good buy if it's on the town's side and red is great to sell if it's your own inventory.

@TheCybercoco
@TheCybercoco 2 жыл бұрын
@@Strat-Guides It's 250 denars per win. As you mentioned, there is no traveling requirement to do it. There is also the added benefit of not needing to deal with armored opponents, which can be a deterrent with low weapon skills. A more even playing field for a new character. And the way the AI behaves, it's pretty easy to avoid most of the fighting (maybe needing to fight 3 or 4 on average) then swoop in and beat the last guy standing for an easy 250. Imperial arenas are especially good for this strategy, since their shape makes it easy to avoid most of the combat by standing on one end of them. This always worked nicely for me to get some easy seed money to start with.

You will only get XP for items you personally bought and sold for a profit. The game logs your purchase price and tracks it when you sell, so if you steal stuff from a village or loot from a battle, it will not count. Just stick to trade goods and animals since equipment doesn't change price throughout the entire campaign and map.
