If you ever get interested in more classic fantasy. Hobbit and Lord of the Rings (pls). I would LOVE to see you read those books. The world building is complex, but worth it. And there's a side character romance, and it is beautiful. It's however, not a fantasy romance that you like to read, but J.R.R. Tolkien has (probably) influenced the fantasy genre more than any other fantasy author. It's definitely something that would take reading more fantasy to appreciate (or if you watched and enjoyed the movies like me, not the hobbit movies tho). But I would love to see you read it at some point!

i read assassins blade after heir of fire and the way it connected to the series made it have a huge impact on how much i loved it. i think if you love little details that turn into huge plot points that’s the best way to read it but i do agree that it has more of an emotional impact if you read it first. i do wish i got to understand sam and celeana’s relationship more while reading the first books but i don’t think i would have remembered the significance of the characters “introduced” in the later books as much. pros and cons to both! :))

I read assassin's blade third, my defense of that reading order is that I think caring about celaena is essential for really feeling strongly about her in the novellas. I also think reading the assassin's blade right before heir of fire puts her headspace at the start of heir of fire into context- you know exactly why she's so low and everything that has lead up to this point is fresh in your mind. but there's so much debate over this for a reason, truly any reading order works as long as it's before queen of shadows! love your videos ❤
@eclipse5954
@eclipse5954 10 ай бұрын
I agree! This is the way I read it. The ending of Assassin's Blade still punched me in the gut and then those events were fresh in my mind for Heir of Fire or Queen of Shadows, I dont remember when I read it but the events were fresh and fuck Arobynn Hamel, thats all 😂 it still has a big emotional impact reading it later on

As someone who read Assassin’s Blade first, I would highly recommend following that reading order. It’s a prequel so the events take place before Throne of Glass. It helps you understand the main character and some of the things she’s been through which have brought her to the place she’s in at the start of TOG. TOG also refers to people and events from AB.

You HAVE to read the Fortuna Sworn series. It is a lesser-known series (might be self-published) but it's very well-written with a heavy romance subplot. The whole plot is just amazing, though, and the found family is the best I've read. The first four books are out now, the fifth comes out later this year, and there's only slated to be one more book after that. Highly, highly recommend.

something i keep seeing across popular booktubers is that they are afraid to actually tell the audience what they thought of a book. It creates this image of people pleasing and a lack of authenticity. Its ok to say you don't like a series, that you found a book boring, otherwise all books are "really good" when they're not. Just be honest with your audience
