Today I'm combining two of my favorite hobbies (stalking StreetEasy and talking too much) to bring you all of the tips & tricks I've learned while apartment hunting in NYC the last few years!
Note: My first apartment search was for a studio in Manhattan in the $2000-3000 range, and this recent search was for a one bedroom in Brooklyn in the $3000-4000 range. While I tried to be inclusive of various price points and neighborhoods in my advice, I'm not as experienced outside of these areas/ranges, so if you're looking with different parameters take this all with a grain of salt. (as you should with everything in this fine and dandy place we call the internet)

My experience with a broker was that they split the broker fee with the landlord’s broker. I haven’t heard of having to pay 2 fees. The only time it wouldn’t have been beneficial is if you end up picking a no-fee building.

Hi! Thanks for your video it is very clear and explanatory. What kind of strategy would you advise to somebody moving from Overseas (typically from France) which means no credit score, no tax US tax return etc ? Thanks !

Sublease! Ask any friends you have in the city if they know of something, or check out a FB group/craigslist
