I usually make a distinction between the Flying V (Gibson) and the King V (Jackson) because the Flying V has a really tight space between the tails while the King V's is more open. Also looks cooler IMO.

My list is almost flipped to yours. Love explorers, firebirds and icemans(?) with the tele not being close to my top, too square for me tbh

Ngl the explorer crushes me. Even as a Metallica hater I love it. It’s so comfortable to play. Doesn’t look that way but it’s amazingly comfortable and the headstock is sick

I'm glad that guitars with knee cuts like the Strandberg guitars are becoming more popular because they help a lot for playing in classical position. I own a Balaguer Anomaly (if you google it up I'm sure you'll hate it) and the knee cut is super comfy! The guitar sits perfectly on my right leg at a 45 degree angle, great for practicing long hours.

The strat shape may not be exciting but it works so well. The "waist" means it is comfortable to play sitting down. The lower horn provides fret access. The upper horn allows strap placement so as it is well balanced when standing up. The belly cut adds extra comfort. It makes a passable lefty if you turn it upside-down. The only thing I would change (and this I guess really comes under hardware) is to make the jack socket come straight out of the front of the body so as the cable run isn't awkward when sitting in a comfy armchair - yes, I know you proper musicians use a stool.

My top tier: Jazz master, strat, gretsch archtop, firebird My great tier: Centre block, tele, hi-flyer phase 4, super strat

Telecasters placed exactly in the right position. I know so many players who played everything else and turned their noses up at Teles. And then they got one and wondered what took them so long to start playing one.

Solid production, however I'd put superstrat in god tier instead of telecaster

The ML model makes so much sense to me, you can rest the guitar on your leg in two different ways that feel really secure.

The iceman is the most classical electric guitar shape imo, it gives off orchestra vibes, and the upper fret access is really good. All I see the lower horn as like a paintbrush stroke, get your mind out of the gutter 😂 if your wang looks like that you need to see a doctor The Explorer is one of the most comfortable to play sitting down (imo) I would have put it higher Headless goes in god tier no question, best guitar innovation since the humbucker, they are ABSOLUTELY more comfortable, lighter, and easy to play on either thigh, please consider getting one. Flying V is fair, really only good if you are going to play with it sitting on your thigh like a classical guitar The Cadillac is actually my dad’s favorite guitar shape which means it’s automatically the best, god tier. You did the Parker Fly an absolute disservice, it’s is one of the most ergonomic designs of all time and the shape is pretty. Pretty solid list 👍

I strongly disagree with this list lol, but no hate. I feel like a lot of more extreme/metal shapes have lots of attractive qualities to them that aren't immediately apparent unless you play them for a while. The Jackson Warrior is one of my favorite guitar shapes ever for example, I thought it was ugly when I first saw one, but over time I began to really appreciate how comfortable it is to play in just about any position, the design lets you play with the guitar parallel to the ground across the leg like how lots of people play sitting, but the curves allow you to play in the classical position very easily. Also, over time I began to really appreciate guitars that say something about the player, something that I feel really expresses them, no matter what genre they play in.

I rank guitar shape by comfort when sitting (I mainly play in the seated position and rarely stand when playing because I don’t have much room to work with while playing). I own a Les Paul, a Razorback (ML style but more pointy) and a variant of the warlock. The warlock style, explorer style and ML style are super comfortable to play while seated and the knobs don’t get in the way when playing (something that I really dislike about strat style guitars). The Les Paul however is something that you have to get used to when playing seated from my experience with mine. Also I like metal which could be a factor in my guitar selection but I do try them out while sitting to get a feel for comfort and most are part of the metal genre consequently. That being said your more of a classic kind of person I respect that. Also I do agree with a few of your assessments seriously what were they thinking about some of those designs.

Swap the ES with the SG, and the Electromatic with the Revstar and we're basically on the same page. I like my guitars small and stubby, and not so much the bulky violin type... and yeah, not into metal myself.

multiscale headless.. most of them have a zero fret, super low action, fanfrets are designed to better the sound of the bass notes, and it feels more natural to your hand, lightweight, can put it on a plane. When sitting down the shape is carved so you can raise the guitar to a more versatile classical position (like Strandberg models) very comfortable shape overall ,Headless guitars are the future.

Alright everybody buckle up I'm about to go on a tangent In my opinion my favorite guitar body shape is a mustang, NOW HEAR ME OUT. Almost a year ago my dad bought me a Epiphone black SG and since we no longer live together and we saw each other every other Saturday at the courthouse i couldn't play it as much and the G string kept slipping and wouldn't get up to a actual G. So after we (me and my stepdad) left the courthouse we went to help a friend with a bed or some shit idfk, then we went straight to guitar center to buy a amp for me i spent all my money on it but who gives a shit. And right before we left i asked the sales guy if i should let him check out the SG with the messed up G, he did and very quickly concluded that the gear was messed up bad from shipping. So he said we could either order another one or "trade in"/return for a different guitar they had on the floor. I chose the latter even though a SG was my dream guitar because Angus young hell yeah. Anyway, i walked around looking at all of them (finding the right price range for me) and there i saw it, it was a Olympic white squier bullet mustang with double humbuckers. I immediately looked at it, picked it up, and asked if this was ok to like exchange or whatever and he said yes. So he grabbed me a cable, i plugged in (it was perfectly in tune might i add) and just started playing the few electric riffs i had known (i had only been playing acoustic for 8 months prior) and it was a absolute perfect fit. I knew as soon as I saw it hanging on the wall it should be mine, the odd shape of a mustang looking like a 50s scifi spaceship to me (i don't know why but it seemed fitting) the all white aesthetic, the thin light body, the nice contrast with the brown fretboard, no whammy bar. Because i think whammy bars are ugly and stupid. Pretty quickly after getting it (like a week later) i bought all the shit fender strap locks, fender strap, different knobs for the switch and volume pots (the ones on there already were black and i wanted white). And it was finished. My perfect guitar. Every guitar has a story, i somehwat strongly believe that every item/thing has some sort of soul, i hate throwing old stuffed animals because of it. I think what if i was this, what if i felt after years of being with this person they just throw me away. I say all this to say treat your guitar like it's your third leg or second soul, it's unique only to you. That was my tangent, i hope you enjoyed. I named my guitar Robin because it seems like a very elegant and simple name to me, and it seemed fitting for a white guitar.

ML shapes are the best cus its a flying v but now you can play it sitting down without a strap much easier
