Roronoa zoro nothing happened. This is one of the most iconic scenes in the one piece manga and the one piece anime. In this new series I will revisit the best scenes in One piece and discuss with you what makes them tick. The scene on Thriller bark where Zoro takes Luffys pain is one of my all-time favorite scenes in fiction and a worthy first moment to look at. The fight of zoro vs Kuma is incredibly well designed. And it becomes clear that for Sanji and zoro loyalty towards luffy is the most important thing in this scene by protecting their caption and the straw hat crew. The scene takes place in episode 377 of the anime and between one piece chapter 483 and chapter 486 if you want to follow along. Let's revisit one of the best moments zoro has in the story on his way to become the strongest swordsman in the world. The Ultimate Sacrifice for Luffy Explained - Why Zoro Took Luffy's Pain

Nami’s “Help me” im sure is on a lot of peoples lists. But, what made that scene for me was right before when she learns that everyone on her island acted like they hated her, so she would just give up in them and be free. But, as the situation was, the last thing they could do was essentially commit suicide. A) Because they didnt want to live like that anymore. B) Giving nothing for Nami to be attached to the island anymore.

My favorite is when the desks & papers are falling from her room as Luffy's fighting Arlong and she just starts crying and covers her mouth "...Arigatou.." Then , in the same episode, Luffy says "Nami, you are my friend!!!" ... Instantly made me fall in love with One Piece. The #1 episode ever to me.

Arlong park shown a lot of luffy then people think about, him stepping back and not doing anything when Nami tells him not too, luffy not caring about what happened to Nami in the past and of course destroying the part of Arlong Park that Nami hated the most, this all shows the extent luffy would go for his crewmates and this was early on

Long analysis on one tiny detail: Thank you for analyzing the fact that this scene DOES incorporate Luffy's pain. For some reason, when people remember this scene, they seem to completely dismiss Luffy's involvement, simply because he's unconscious. When, in reality, Luffy's pain was so immense, even Zoro couldn't fathom it. It really is such a huge reveal because this isn't a one time thing. If you go back, this has been present since the very beginning of the series. In Bartie and Arlong, he literally beats his body bloody and then either sleeps or laughs it off, as if he isn't enduring any pain. We get brief flashes in the midst of the battle but he largely pretends it doesn't effect him. In Alabasta, he sleeps for 3 days straight after fighting Crocodile, which isn't normal, even for him. In Ennis Lobby, he's shown doing the same again, sleeping while eating. While I greatly enjoy the symbolism of Zoro, it bothers me that everyone ignores the symbolism this has for Luffy, of him protecting his crew not only physically but even emotionally, by never showing them how much pain he's in. Zoro can't help but scream and writhe in pain at just a taste of it, yet Luffy slept and internalized that pain as if everything was fine, enduring it without hesitation. I love Zoro in this moment. He's great, amazing! It's a wonderful moment for him and I won't take away from that anymore. This moment is one of his best moments and truly defined his character in a beautiful way.

@@mayarek11 I think it's the opposite. Luffy was knocked out and zoro was already heavily injured, the fact that zoro was still somehow conscious after he took all of luffys pain just shows that zoros endurance is on the same level as luffys. I think luffy and zoro are equals in endurance but luffy has the edge on strenght. At least at that point in the story anyways.

@@houmihm I love the comment but when people mention the fact that zoro was still standing after luffy was knocked out you got to understand if Luffy still felt like he had to keep protecting his friends i don't think he wouldve of got knocked. I think his body would have gave up before he did just like in marineford but when the battle is somewhat done or what he thinks he needs to do is done he goes to sleep but I think if he felt like he needed to keep fighting he wouldve and zoro understands that and understands luffy does this without hesitation it complaint making that iconic line hit so hard "its nothing"

This is also one of my favorite Robin moments. From being the only one not to be hilariously flustered and take Kuma seriously, to not shouting "never" (rather saying it with her actions) with the others, to her hilariously straight-faced cartoonish imagination of cat-paws, and facing down Kuma's blast without showing a hint of fear or regret, and her using her devil-fruit to listen in on a private conversation to know what Zoro did and simply saying "Now I know" to herself while smiling. These are all awesome moments that really play well to compliment Robin's character against the rest of the cast as the most serious, aware, and emotionally mature member of the crew who remains calm while the others freak out or act stupid for comedic sake (before the Wano arc ruined it by making her do that ugly face-fault after Luffy's capture). Robin is great because of moments like this. They distinguish her and add a level of maturity and grace to the crew that they're missing, without being a foil to their silliness by always supporting and laughing at their childish antics. She's the member that proves you don't have to by silly or immature or weird to have dreams and enjoy adventures. When Luffy declared war on Big Mom, she just laughed while everyone else freaked out. And when everyone else yelled out that they'd never betray Luffy, she stayed silent because she didn't even need to say it. And it's a real shame there aren't more moments like these to appreciate what an awesome person she is after the time-skip, and they're taking away the things about her that make her unique to the crew.

What I love the most about this scene is that it fundamentally change's Zoro's perspective of Luffy. Zoro offered his life to save Luffy because he was hos friend, he didn't necessarily saw him as the strongest of the crew, he viewed HIMSELF as the strongest. But after experiencing his pain and suffering... He's not only now eternally linked to Luffy (as he literally felt the same suffering as him), but he understands from this point forward the difference between them

One of my favourite moments is definitely Usopp's speech in Enies Lobby to Luffy to motivate him getting back up. The intense music, INCREDIBLE VOICE ACTING, character animations are so good! "Even though there's nothing but smoke above us, we can still see the sky! We can see the sea! This isn't hell! Don't look like you're about to die, you jerk!!!" Then Luffy barely standing back up, replying with "I know... This isn't hell or anything.." The awesome ost of Luffy vs Ratchet starts to play. Usopp crying "DEFEAT HIM! THEN WE'LL GO BACK TOGETHER LUFFY!!!" "OF COURSE!!!" or "ATARI MAEDA!!!" still send shivers down my spine. The fact that Usopp unmasked himself, crying to see his friend almost dying, starting off by lying about not wanting to see Luffy anyways but ended up saying "we'll go back together luffy!" revealing his true self. This was the perfect climax for Usopp's storyline from W7 to EL and the perfect motivator for Luffy. The friend he thought he would never see again after their fight but now he's here, telling him not to die T^T

Zoro's "Nothing Happened" is still the best in my opinion. It actually still sends shivers down my spine every time, as it shows just how powerful his will to live and his loyalty to his captain and crew is. In my opinion he is easily the best character in the show. Robin's "I want to live" is a big one. The moment where she finally breaks her reserved facade and lets her real emotions poor out for the crew to see is just really powerful. And then there is Going Merry's "To the ocean"... Most people have said the saddest part of One Piece is when Going Merry died, and they can't help but cry at his funeral, but I have never cried about the way he died... I cry because of the way he chose to live his last moments. When he shows up to rescue the crew at the "To the Ocean" scene, I lose it every time. That ship was a Warrior, and he proved it to the very end.
@JaimeD.
@JaimeD. 4 жыл бұрын
Interesting ideal series, *Ohara.* The "NOTHING HAPPENED!" scene was a cobblestone of what One Piece shows thanks to the brilliant mind of Oda. Zoro showed that he cared for Luffy and the crew. He's shown loyalty even to possible death. P.S: The "I WANT TO LIVE!" (ENIES LOBBY ARC) scene can be explored amongst others.

Something I have rarely seen mentioned about this scene is WHY Zoro is just standing there. Zoro's bizarre sleeping patterns are used as a joke several times but it is because he is the one who stands guard when the rest of the crew is indisposed. So after enduring the suffering of his captain and saving the life of his rival, he sees that nobody is able to defend themselves and STAYS CONSCIOUS while they rest in order to stand guard over his resting crew and comrades.

Not my favorite, but one of the best narrative moments imo that many tend to overlook is when Big Mom eats the other kids and Mother Caramel. The sheer contrast of the happy BM and the atrocity she committed is fantastic. The fact that she doesn't understand until this day what's happened and how they "abandoning" her shaped how she is makes her character one of the most convoluted characters ever created. Throughout the whole flashback we're following this odd group and asking ourselves what could have happened for them to leave BM, then Mother Caramel is revealed to sell kids and we're made believe that'll be the outcome of BM's story, the good old WG doing sh!t. But Oda subverts it masterfully, pulling one creepy and disturbed thing. I still remember the panel where it shows a zoom out of the island, and the "sound effects" katakana change from laughs to screams and cries, it was shocking.

I really believe that from this particular scene is one of the reasons (and maybe the main reason) why Zorro now much more serious and trying so hard to be the best swordsman for Luffy's sake. From this scene, we were shown that Kuma expelled every pain, fear, and suffering that Luffy had to endure during this arc. I bet when Zorro first try to feel that pain, he realky felt every emotional and physical pain and suffering that Luffy had. Also considering with the tragedy that Luffy had to endure in his youth (being Sabo's death) and his fear of losing his crewmates, Zorro now knows what his captain to endure during this arc.

Zoro and The Strawhats vs Oars shows that Zoro will to fight for the Crew and Lead when Luffy not around and Zoro vs Kuma shows Zoro's Sacrifice for his captain, Luffy. Thriller Bark cleverly showed two sides of Zoro 's role in the story. Which gives me high hope for his role in Wano. Zoro follows Luffy because of Ambition not power. Their Dreams lines up together and the brotherhood are form on the battlefields across vast seas of their world. Zoro is Luffy's "Sword" so I acknowledge him as Pirate King's Sword. Zoro is clearly my favorite character then it Luffy. And this Great Videos prove it to be true. Thank You O'hara

Great idea for a video series. I have to add something that I feel you missed out in your analysis and surprised me that you did. The moment Zoro bowed down and offered his life in exchange for Luffy and the crew is the moment Zoro's character grew exponentially. Its the very first time Zoro puts his dream aside openly declaring that he is willing to die here for the people he grew to care for than carry on his dream. Zoro openly declared to Mihawk, Luffy and everyone present back in Baratie that he wont lose again until he becomes the best swordsman in the world, he also openly said to his opponents in several of his fights that if he dies "here", that's how far he was able to go. He always carried himself with an air of arrogance when it came to combat ability. But in this scene Zoro openly admits that he is willing to put his life aside not for his goal, but for his friends. He shows true humility and for the first time he becomes something more than just a stoic, hard boiled person with one goal in mind, he truly shows that he has found a family in the Strawhats and a brother to Luffy, as you yourself pointed out. His promise to his dead friend is not as important anymore as preserving the life of his living family, and even though that might be apparent by many of his actions prior to this moment, this is the defining moment that it is openly declared and the character stands by it. And all this extremely emotional scene for Zoro is done in an almost oblivious fashion to the rest of the crew, save for Sanji(and I think Brook). Like every other scene that involves Zoro and his more emotional side, Oda makes sure the crew doesn't know while the reader does. None of the crew knows the backstory of Zoro. Now in his, greatest sacrifice so far, almost none of the crew knows. I dont know if his is deliberate by Oda but there is certainly a pattern of slowly unraveling Zoro to the crew.

One great aspect of this scene to me is the special relationship between Zoro and Sanji which is build since the very beginning of the anime. They fake antagonism but they strongly care for each other. To me one of the thing that makes this scene important is that it's only Sanji whom is deeply worried about Zoro and that it's sanji alone that discovered Zoro covered with blood in a mix of relieve that he is not dead and panic that he is roughly damaged. The scene is that strong because we live it through sanji's eye we can feel he's concern, is fear about zoro's state because unlike him we do not known at this point what happened to zoro Even when he found him he ask "are you still alive?" Beside when Sanji go looking for Zoro Brook see him go and maybe realize what it means to be part of the crew.

The character development is fabulous, from sanji and zoro. We had seen how sanji tells zoro and luffy to give up their dreams in the baratie, and now came to sacrifice his life, imposing something more important on her. The same with zoro, his character until now had as a priority the dream of being the best swordsman, of having as his main objective his improvement without caring too much about who accompanied him or where he was going. His strong development as a brother of luffy and vice-captain responsible (already seen for example, in water 7) is noted. And brook as a new character of the crew, "absorbs" all this very well, which serves to connect us more with him as we get closer to the new world. How the crew solidifies was always the main objective of oda, to the point that when we see luffy remembering everyone with jinbei, our soul breaks.

I would like to ad that the line is actually often misquoted. "It's nothing happened, understood!" in both the manga and the anime. This shows that while this wasn't a feat that Zoro easily withstood as many people misinterpret, but that he really didn't want Luffy to know what happened, as Sanji later explained.

The scene of Luffy charging against Don Krieg on the Baratie and Zeff describing what type of person Luffy is, how it foreshadows everything to come. And showing Sanji what type of captain he could dream to see as well as follow. Of course the punch he gives Don Krieg right as he charges across how Luffy ask him if it's his grave, or is it Kriegs. That scene really set the tone for me, for the entire rest of the series as to what type of person Luffy was going to become. Also why Sanji looks up to Luffy and Zoro so much. As well as the competition between Zoro and Sanji, who will be the right hand man. The scene's give me chills every time I think of them. Zoro and Sanji both got to see epic moments from Luffy separately, cementing the rivalry early on in the story. It's one of the moments I can think of right away that is one of the greatest in One Piece. Both as a foreshadowing and character relationships between Sanji, Zoro and Luffy. Of course I can think of so many other epic moments as well! My favorite comedic moments either is the one were Luffy makes fun of his crew mates by imitating them. Or when the Straw Hats fly off of Skypiea and Conis just saying "Heso" as they fall and them panicking. That scene had me in tears laughing!

This scene indicates a lot of things. But most popularly indicates the fact that those who hate Zoro because they like Sanji and vice versa are complete fools. Those two never show it. They never will. But they somewhere respect and trust each other more than any pair of characters in the series. When their captain steps in for his crew,placing himself in danger, these are the pillars that hold high their captain's dreams. The moment where Sanji was standing between Zoro and Kuma to the point where Zoro pushed him aside and took the pain not only shows their resolution. They have their own dreams, and they would do everything to achieve that. But the fact that they are ready to sacrifice themselves just shows hiw much they understand and value each other. So the push Zoro gives Sanji is not a mere push, that is the shove of belief, belief that the crew shall live, their captain shall live, and his dreams shall live even if Zoro is gone, cause Sanji shall live. That is the position they hold for each other.

I had a lot of thoughts running through my head watching the scene... On the surface it was about Zoros absolute loyalty to the captain But I wondered why he knocked Sanji out I figured it's one of two things 1. Zoro knows that Sanji is strong but he felt that Sanji would never be able to bare the burden what came next 2.He did it because he felt that it was his burden alone seeing as he is Luffy's second mate and naturally it would be his responsibility alone and his duty to protect the crew fulfilling his role as second mate considering he takes being a pirate very seriously

My favorite scene was when zoro asks to respect their captain in water seven arc Its hurts to leave ussop but its soo true that even sanji agrees first time in his life with zoro. It was badass, classic and respectable at the same time. "The crew would be better without someone who doesn't show respect for this guy." "A crew that looses respect for thier captain, is sure to collapse. Listen!, You can act easy going as you usually do but, Even for an instant, the guy who is my leader lets others step over him, Next time it is me who will leave this crew"

I think a great moment that I don't really see talked about being a great moment was Dr Hiriluk's speech about how you only die once you are forgotten by those who knew you, but then comparing it to Oden who simply didn't care if anyone knew the real him and was willing to die for people who forgot who the 'real' him was. It really makes you think if Oda thought literally every little thing out from the very beginning.

It makes it that much cooler that most of the crew dont know what happened. It's amazing how zoro is willing to die and give up his dream .

I really hope you dive deep into some of the moments of the war arc. In my opinion, Whitebeards depth is the most impactful we have had which is why it's my favorite. Ace had more emotional baggage but WB is just straight goosebumps.

Another smaller part of this scene I'd like to point out is the moment Sanji attacks Kuma, not only is it ineffective, Sanji falls down hurt from it. Zoro sees this and is shocked, because I think it registers to Zoro just how big of a threat Kuma is to them. Zoro and Sanji are Luffy's wings, they trust each other fully, for one to have the other's back. Zoro knows and respects Sanji's strength, so the moment he falls down, Zoro understands that they do not stand a chance at defeating Kuma, which is part of why he ends up offering his own life instead

Great video! Love that I found this channel. One of my favorites on KZfaq now. Honestly, I always feel like your videos don't run long, but they typically run longer than anything else I watch outside of maybe one other channel. I think that just speaks to how good your content is and how well your voice sounds.

Thank you for not just going "Top 10 Once Piece moments!" or something like that. I would *not* have watched the video if you'd done that. Really hate clickbait lol. Respect, man!

I like the new format. Sometimes I'm kind of dumb and don't notice certain things. Videos like that give me a totally new perspective on a scene. Teaches me to love the anime in a totally new way.

Ussop and luffys fight when luffy "abandons" the Merry. Not even the fight really, the part when luffy acknowledged Ussop. That was powerful
