That chain looked way tighter than the 35mm of free play required. Once you get sat on the bike it’s gonna be tighter than a nuns chuff 😂

You might want to double check the chain tension. Looked a little tight for me. Too tight and it can load the output bearing and it makes a big difference to how it rides and how long it lasts. We'll done so far.

I was going to mention the same. I think many people have chain problems as they over tighten. Chain better on the slack side IMV, around 30mm at tightest point will mean far less re tensioning and as you say the gearbox shaft will live longer.

It will also get tighter when you sit on it . THE TIGHTEST POINT IS WHEN YOU CAN TRACE A STRAIGHT LINE BETWEEN THE OUTPUT SHAFT, THE SWINGING ARM PIVOT AND THE REAR WHEEL SPINDLE.

@@wynnmorris6270 Exactly and it will tighten with suspension movement over bumps. The chain can also heat up as a result and produce excessive wear
