Basically as per usual. Everytime they release a new tribe or spells in this case, it's always a mess the first month. But after anomalies the game feels kind of boring.

@@qm1174 I disagree, I think the game is more fun without anomalies. Anomalies made it difficult to just enjoy the game, everything was tailored around the anomaly, much like the quest system. You can have the perfect hero for your lobby but get a bad quest or bad anomaly and you might as well just forfeit. I got to 10,000 MMR largely thanks to broken anomalies and I'm glad they aren't in every game anymore but they'll make a return somehow. Buddies and quests have come back several times in different ways, no reason to think anomalies won't be the same.

Battlegrounds is by far the most popular auto battler, it is far from dead. Anomalies was a broken system that a large majority of the fanbase despised, you are in the minority here. Anomalies were okay but not the best thing to ever happen to the game. They lowered the skill ceiling and allowed several players to reach MMR they'd never dreamed of before. Honestly from reading reddit it seems like everyone who's upset anomalies are gone are the people who can't keep their MMR up without them. The fact that you started with "BG is dead" just because they got rid of a broken system shows me that you fit into that category. Without anomalies I stick around 8-9000 MMR, with anomalies I got close to 12,000. It was completely broken and I'm glad it's gone. Quests were okay but you needed a good quest mixed with a good hero to win. Anomalies completely destroy strategy. Cards don't work together the same so the perfect Hero for the lobby could be rendered completely worthless. For example, digging for a golden minion in an all golden game. It was completely pointless and occasionally they might be fun but for the overall experience of the game, they needed to go. They were around for too long, a lot of people were very upset with them and wanted them gone within a week. Blizzard planned on reimplementing anomalies in a different way this season but backed off and chose Spells instead based on community feedback. So no, BG isn't dead, you're just bad at the game and can't win without a severely broken system backing you up.

Anomaly was fun because you will always get an unpredictable turn. For me, Tavern Spells is just coin management to reach Tier 6 faster.
