I bought this months ago and have been using it to dig out citrus trees and planting new plants in the back yard. It's a great shovel, and works even better sharpened with a file and with handle extensions to make it longer. One gripe is that I often have to tighten the grip as it'll sometimes unscrews. It doesn't stop the work flow, so don't let that stop you from buying this shovel.

Not to be THAT guy but those pins that lock the shovel head into position look like they could break off after repeated use.

Thanks for the review. The V-shaped indentation at the tip of the saw/knife attachment is intended as the striker for the ferro rod.

the knife will break, the handle will get loose, the sharp part of the shovel will get dull quickly, and the pins to lock the shovel will break too. oh and the foam on the handle won"t last. so maybe a fun tool but not one that you can rely on for years.

Looks like a great shovel, not sure about depending on it as an ax, it looks like the way that it bounces off of the wood might make it a little difficult to control and result in a trip to the emergency room of a hospital.

Good review Mike. You should hire that commentator for any future review videos you make. Loads of humour! On a more serious note.. The Hairy Hobit may need assistance pulling his pants down if he just finished digging a Latrine hole!! He may have waited a tad too long to start digging that hole after using the firesteal to spark that arm hair after he used the SHAX to chop his wood and the knife to prepare his tinder after killing Zombies.... So the assistance he would get with attaching into his belt may prove to be a Welcome feature. Don't forget that the opener will aid him in opening that much deserved Beer afterwards while he relaxes around the fire waiting for and keeping watch for the Zombie Apocalypse!! Cheers buddy!

I like that the handle can be extended, that's one thing that's disappointing about the NATO issue ones is that the handle length is fixed, at least the old matok ones they had back in the day could have a longer handle affixed by making one

Bought one of these and took it out four wheeling. Buried my tires and used the tool to dig them out. The tool so sharp hit 2 of my tires by mistake put a 2” gash in each of them and I died in the wilderness.

I've been online looking at quite a few multi shovels lately, but I hadn't seen this. What I like about it compared to the others it's not too much stuff just the right amount of stuff and mostly shovel. The one thing that it lacks though is a pic on the flip side of the shovel. Otherwise I'd say it's a bit of a keeper !!!!!!!

Flat shoves aren't ideal. An intermediate shovel position would be very useful - say 135 degrees from the extended handle..

Great video, but when trying to make a fire with the flint, instead of pushing with the back of the knife, keep the knife steady, and pull the flint, the magnesium flow will all fall in the same place, starting the fire, Mr he couldn't start the fire because he did the inverted process..., finally, does the shovel work like an axe?

I'd love to know how it holds up to about 6 months of use. In my experience the more movable parts / assembly the faster it breaks down.

Yep, that's the thing with most these outdoor/survival prod. reviews. After 5 swings everything works nice. Then 3 month deep it starts to fiddle. 6 month and it falls apart. it's an ok shovel. It sucks as an axe for it tweaks your wrist with every bow. Battoning a knife is even better. It sucks as a carving knife too compared to...well a carving knife with a decent handle. (at least you can whisthle while you carve) I honestly belive that this '10 in 1 mulitfuncionality' trend is a misdirection. Dog n pony products to lure impulse buying.

@@tamasbarad8202 Thing is most of these aren't build for long term use though. If you needed to use a hatchet in a normal situation just use a hatchet not a survival tool

@@gotworc I think they are built for impulse buying. I could argue if there are survival tools at all. There are survival skills sure. And there are good durable tools. And good, durable gear. The word survival is a bit blurry and fantasized these days. If it's the stuff what you have with you all the time, then survival tools are your shoes. A small space blanket in your pocket. A lighter. If I know I get away outdoors, I bring good tools, like a hatchet. My argument is that these gimicky "survival" gadgets are not good to have at all.

e-tool is better imo. A bit lighter and also doubles as a seat for general use or when you need to take a shit.
