Today's video I take a look at one of the coolest additions I've ever seen in Minecraft, the Tool Trims! This mod was created by JoeFly for both Java and Bedrock and is one of my favorite Vanilla Plus addons by far!

I don't understand why Mojang didn't make tool trims in the first place. It's such a cool concept and fits in with the armor trim system anyway.

you have to understand that tools are limited in its appearance. If I’m right, tools in its vanilla appearance, is just a 16x16 sprite. Armor got trims because it has so many open space for customization. While tools is very small and there’s only so much you can do with it. And of course with like so many armor trims, Mojang needs to be REALLY creative when it comes to making up designs for the tools that fits in with the armor trims. I get why you and so many other people want Tool trims but it’s gonna be very limited.

I get what you mean, but just look at the trims we see in this video. There are only three of them, but they do look good and there is just enough space on the tools to be able to easily tell what trim exactly you're looking at. In my opinion, these three would be just enough, of course there's no way there could be anywhere near as many tool trims as there are armour trims, but there is definitely some space for a few tool customization options.

I wish Mojang adds this into the game someday! It doesn't seem likely with 1.21 but if implemented in an update it would not only add to a cool concept, but it would give more life to exploration and cosmetic customization to items and weapons.

Tridents can’t have variations via data packs. That’s why tridents aren’t able to be trimmed. I’m a data packer also and I’ve tried to see if that’s possible

How do you get this to work smoothly? The tooltrimming table is extremely buggy and messed up for me and barely works, and the mod doesn't work for me

I think ruby would be so cool in vanilla even as just a trim item with one or two other crafting purposes. I mean we have amethyst, so why not ruby too?
