This is part two of my Ultimate Piano Comparison series, comparing five of the most commonly used virtual pianos in the praise and worship community. You can see the first video here... • The Ultimate Virtual P... . Please use headphones while listening to this to hear the differences in each example. I tried my best to normalize each example, and I used the player microphone position when possible. Outside of adjusting tone for the various bright and dark options, I kept the default settings, with the exception of trying to minimize pedal noises. I hope you enjoy and it helps you in your quest to find the perfect piano sound. The example is an excerpt from Matt Redman's "Holy."

This is the best piano comparison I've seen by far. Reminds me of the old purgatory creek piano shootout. Would love to see a part 3 featuring iOS pianos especially the new Colossus app with its 14GB Bechstein!

Thanks for making this video! I wish you could re-upload the part one with HD quality.. The subtle dynamic was lost because of the KZfaq compression.. But otherwise great job man!!

Great vid. Very cool to see how each of all you tested in both videos have their own character.... Based on sound alone, the Grandeur seems like very good value. To me the 275 Bright seems to have a natural sound and both PV are impressive though the panning on Le Modern seems too noticeable.

Thanks so much for going to such great lengths to do this. It is a help to so many to be able to hear comparison!….. If you ever do a part 3, I would love to hear some of the 8Dio piano's they have 2 Steinway's and a Studio grand among others. Thanks again!

I've been using Alicia keys for a while and I've felt like I was using it because it was good enough for the price, but all awhile thinking that there were some plugins out there that were a lot better..... but more expensive of course.... you know?... (That grass is greener on the other side feeling)... yet I can see from this comparison that Alicia keys is well rounded, and plenty bang for the buck.... and in some cases nicer that some more expensive ones out there.

Vielen Dank für die Videos, die die gängigen, leider aber zur Zeit nicht vollständigen, Piano Libraries miteinander vergleichen. Es fehlen leider einige, Emotional Piano hätte mich interessiert. Das Gute an den Videos ist, dass hier nicht viel Schmuh betrieben wurde und die Libraries relativ trocken und ehrlich die Sounds demonstrieren. Es gibt tatsächlich große Unterschiede, die sich aber immer wieder dann entweder in der lauten oder leisen Dynamik gegeneinander aufheben. Ehrlich gesagt: Nicht eine der Librarys klingt nach einem Klavier, geschweige denn nach einem Flügel. Ich suche seit Jahren nach einem Sound, der halbwegs nach einem Klavier klingt. Ich habe sowohl die East-West-Sachen, die noch die besseren sind, aber auch Steinbergs Grand und Vitous und Garritan und all das Übliche. Was ich hier gehört habe, hat mir viel Gerld gespart. Das ist es alles nicht. Es fehlt überall das Holz. Bei keiner Library höre ich Holz. Wenn es leise ist, geht es bei einigen Librarys, dann wird es laut und es hört auf. Oder umgekehrt. Spielbar sind die meisten überhaupt nicht, weil es einfach keinen Spass macht. Es muss verdammt schwer sein, das Wesentliche an einem Flügel zu erfassen. Ich liebäugele mit dem Emotional Piano aber auf die Demos kann man nichts geben. Das sagt nichts. Nunja, danke für die Desillusionierung. Scheint eben nicht zu gehen. Oder weiß jemand ein VST, das nach einem Flügel klingt und das auch spielbar ist?

and I will add.... that the guy who mixes my stuff, is the actual guy who mixed Alicias "Songs in A Minor" breakthrough album.... and he does not hate the stems I give him with this plugin... which is A LOT to say from the picky guy!

There is also a couple based on the UVI sampler. They have a Grand Piano Collection, especially a Grand Piano model D that seems alright for around $100.
