Join us for this weeks trading at Watchtrader & Co where we have some unusual watches in store for you this week.
First up we see Jon with a customer who has two watches up for sale. The first is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 with the rich green dial - reference 124300. The other being a pristine condition Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the hesalite crystal, reference 31130423001005.
Hendo is back in the Batcave this time with a rather special pre-moon Moonwatch from 1965. This watch was brought into store by a gentleman who had received it from his late father and it had been sitting in a draw for numerous years. The watch features the straight lugs and is commonly known as the Ed White version of Omega’s more famous timepiece. This reference ST.105.00.365 has been worn on a nato strap for a large portion of its wrist time and the whereabouts of the steel bracelet is unknown. The watch has been into the workshop and serviced so is currently in fully working condition.
By sheer chance Hendo also happens to have another 1965 vintage watch, however this one is from the crown. The Rolex Submariner 5513. This example features all original parts aside from the crystal which is believed to have been replaced. The way that the lume has broken down on the hands has left a quite unusual effect, almost skeleton hands… If anybody watching happens to have a 1965 Submariner bracelet that they would be willing to sell, please get in touch.
Back in the shop and Jon is sat with a lady looking to sell a stunning yellow gold Rolex Daytona on a leather strap, ref: 116518. This is the predecessor to the current Oysterflex models and features a ‘Paul Newman’ dial. The appetite for these leather strap precious metal Daytona’s pales in comparison to the modern rubber variants but they are certainly no less of a watch. You can pick these up for significantly less money on the pre-owned market.
Finally, Hendo is back in the shop serving a gentleman who has decided to sell two fantastic vintage watches. The first being a gold plated Omega Seamaster in need of some TLC and a new leather strap. The watch was purchased in 1957 and has a special engraving on the back. The second is an IWC in full gold measuring in at 33mm and featuring a manual wind movement. The cushion case and elegant dial would look great under the cuff of a gents suit.
