Not dropping the yellow jersey in the case of a mechanical has always been nonsense for me. Who's in the yellow jersey at a given time in the race is dependent on the nature of the stages that have preceded it. You either afford the same respect to the whole of the peloton or not at all. There have been plenty of occasions where GC contenders have had bad luck which hasn't been recognised due to their positioning in the early stages. How often do grand tours start off in the mountains with summit finishes? The "unwritten rule" is usually heavily weighted in favour of time trial specialists or people who are strong in the crosswinds / punchy stages. A lot of riders never realistically have the opportunity to take the leaders jersey until the 2nd / 3rd week of racing if they're more of a "pure climber".

This super Gifted and Talented Athlete could have achived so much more than any other cyclist in History. Contador was an Unstoppable Machine,a Force of Nature like no other before or after. In my 59 years following professional cycling, Alberto Contador stands as the Greatest Cyclist i had the pleasure of seing race in the Greatest Professional Cycling Competitions. I my opinion Alberto Contador is the Greatest Cyclist in the Sport History. PS: It's Beyond me how the name of Lance Armstrong is still mentioned has One of the Greatest, when his name should have been Banned, Erased from the Cycling channels and History. The Greatest Cheater in cycling History has no place in a channel were we are talking abaut Real Cycling Heroes like Alberto Contador.

The 9-time winner of all Grand Tours! They accused him of doping for taking the same substance that Jamaica sprinters including Usain Bolt took in Beijing 2008. They suspended him for a year, and stripped him from two Tour 2010, and Giro 2011. Yet Usain and his team mates get away with the case.

Attacking Schleck when he dropped the chain, and claiming he didn't see him drop the chain when he was behind him trying to catch his wheel and clearly saw him drop the chain was one of the most unsportsmanlike things in the history of the Tour. Condator will always be remembered for his poor sportsman ship over his accomplishments. Glad he got stripped of that win and Schleck got his win.

I never understood how Contador got to keep 2 out of his 3 tours even though he got caught doping on multiple occasions, yet Lance gave up all 7 and was banned for life. Same with Ulrich who got to keep his malliot jaune even though he's and admitted cheater. They are all cheaters and should not be looked up to or have any of their accomplishments how do you strip all from one and not the other.

Rasmussen won in 2007, and was by a margin a better rider that year. contador were much younger, and went on to win a lot of gt. that’s a different story. when Rasmussen came back, from quarantine, he was over his prime, and shamed in the sport for life.

@@TrueSportsLore On every day they work as a team, but in case of doping scandal cyclists are abandoned by its team as if they are individuals. It's huge hypocrisy. As long as there won't be a ban to the whole team (for 5-10 years) nothing will change.

Treatment after PED-allegations is generally related to personality. Jerks and oddballs get slaughtered. Loveable mother in law favorites come away unscathed and promoted into post race career glory. The same is seen in Medical Doctors, where malpractice lawsuit rates are directly related to bedside manner. Maybe not as it should be, but ultimately a reflection of the emotions driven sentiment of mankind as a whole.
