This is a front seat complete Nightvision HD Experienceof The Underground at Adventureland in Altoona, Iowa. This ride is half dark ride have coasters. It doesnt really have any drops but it has lift hills to take you up then slowlytake you back down.

A lot of these rides have that unmistakable musty / petrol-ish smell. My guess is they oil the track down and then riding over it heats the oil a bit. (* "these rides"= indoor minecart-coaster types) Knott's Berry Farm Calico Mine Train is one.

To be honest I love this ride because when it’s like the hottest day of the summer the Underground Railroad is the only one that is cold it’s not the best but it’s one of the oldest in the park and another way to cool down as well

This ride used to be a lot cooler. Back in the 90's and early 00's the animatronics were a lot smoother (or even worked. The miner at the beginning used to give a legit spooky story and moved). And it had so much misters you'd be soaked by the time you got off.

Back when it was new the line was crazy, plus it was one of the few rides with AC once you got inside the building.

I was here yesterday, and they upgraded it so much, better entrance, better pre ride story A lot more detail, tons of small cobwebs, a lot better lighting, it makes it a lot scarier, definitely a lot better now and worth the 60 minute wait!

@ShawnJVirchow yea the whole spiel plays when you wait inside and I thought it would be better to start it as im walking through the queue line so that in my video your not just sitting there forever hearing the spiel and looking at a wooden door and would shorten up the video.

I gotta say this is a one of a kind ride. rollercoaster setup with a dark ride theme.. interesting. too bad they didn't have a few drops and speed pick.. but still a cool ride... :)

Nah, not really. Kind of hidden away too. I’ve been here a few time since I’m an Iowan and when I went as a young child, I didn’t even know this existed. The big selling points for Adventureland is The Dragon, Outlaw, and Tornado. Most recently however is the Monster which is a GREAT addition to this family own park.
