Icl I disagree, hypebeast culture in 2016 was so mainstream it was insane. This new style is literally niche to only people that like fashion, and even everyone that knows it doesn't buy into it. Social media is making it seem like everyone is dressing a certain but literally go outside and you'll see it's not true.

It depends on the context. U walk the street of bumfuck Milwaukee, yea u won’t really see much. But step outside where I live in New York, or LA, London, Berlin, Paris you see the exact same style copy paste. Even in the smaller cities it’s a pretty significant sighting. You can also notice exactly when a trend dies and a new one emerges just by cataloguing what people are wearing.

kinda lost my love for fashion compared to a few years ago. I feel like if everyone is trying to outdo each other and one-up each other, it creates an echo-chamber where everyone ends up representing the same thing.

I think Supreme is going full circle. It was an insider label, then blew up to ridiculous levels and now is coming back down after being burned by the Sun. This is precisely the point that I'm now interested in Supreme again. I want a label I can vibe with. ALD is sitting #1 for me but that's because I'm 37 and the aesthetic of the 90's is so nostalgic.

@@thecomedian6322 Re-sale prices perhaps. What I was thinking more of is that Supreme collabs have calmed down a lot and that the label is going back to its roots. The same thing is happening with Palace, imo, their Gucci drop was a disaster. I'm not a hypbeast by any means, I just wait for certain pieces to add to the wardrobe, that's it.

The look now is to mix a hype piece, with some completely unhyped item, and use your influence and you denial of truth, to sell the entire outfit off as a fashion look. Fortunately, it worked in the fashion world, and literally all you have to do is portray an heir of intentionality and people will bite, and at the very least they’ll buy into your ability to influence them, even if they don’t as much agree with liking your outfit.

There's this balance of conformity/non-comformity, that we do in everything, a way to balance what is hip or cool, with what works for our own style and what we can afford. Like anything can get out of hand, but to each their own. The only that you need approval is yourself.

I’ll never forget being in Browns in London hearing this loud group of young boys (around 11-12 y/o) they were super clued up on hype brands and fashion trends. They loved off-white, heron Preston and givenchy . I looked at one of the boys parents as if to say, “wow so this is what it’s like to raise hypebeast?”, I said her son had expensive taste and she laughed with exhaustion!😩 When I was 12, nobody talked about fashion and nobody knew designer brands. If you liked fashion, you were weird and sus. Times change. Somewhat for the better, in terms guys not seeing fashion as a purely female domain, somewhat for the worse in terms of 12 y/os being obsessed with hype, designer brands and consumerism. Where’s the time to just be a child gone? As soon as kids get on social media, their childhood is pretty much over. 😅

The style now, is to dress as people who had absolutely zero style a decade ago, except add a piece or two of fashion in the mix and all of a sudden you’re a tik tok fashion expert. A decade ago you’d look at baggy clothes and say “meh”-now you see it, mixed with a pair of dunks, and now it’s a whole fashion look. Make it make sense

@@gabrielpacana8596 one thing I've learned in my decades of life is that stuff always comes around. No matter what it is. Skinny jeans give way to baggy jeans and go back to skinny jeans. all trends are cyclical, and stuff that nobody would be caught dead in becomes the most desirable in 8-10 years, and then the great cycle continues. watch trends to find things you like. if its something you like then buy it, if not then skip it, and buy the best quality items you can afford, and they will last forever in and out of trend cycles.

I think that, unfortunately, the American streetwear consumers/market is banking on their logos on their garments and trendiness to fuel a sense of approval from the rest. Streetwear is more than that, just take a look at the Japanese street fashion scene. Yes, although many, many brands have come from Japan such as Bape, Neighborhood, and Human Made for example, the street looks there are not solely focused branding and trends. Instead, they place emphasis on prints, patterns, color, and silhouettes. American streetwear cannot grow as long as influencers continue to promote the same brands and garments. On the contrary, I think ALD is doing good in establishing a more 'mature' streetwear look, and in turn, expanding the American streetwear look with classic and timeless garments.

I think that hype beast era like you said was all about wearing branding from head to toe which became to much in a fit. I feel like fashion in recent years has gone to a more minimalistic approach which I like. Makes for more clean outfits while you can still rock a supreme tee for example not everything from head to toe needs to be hype beast. I think fashion for men is in a good place cause of vintage clothing n baggier fits with the 90 aesthetics have made it well rounded. There will always be trends but overall it’s in a good place.

You have no idea how bad workwear in fashion has affected blue collar workers. You'd assume more people buying would mean better business in total, but a lot of tride and true workwear brands have lowered drastically in quality because of the growing popularity, and are forced to be made overseas instead of in the USA. It happened to dickies, Levi's, and is now happening to carhartt. There are thousands of testimonies that the build quality is just not on par as it was even just a few years ago before they blew up.

I knew preme before the hype and still wear it (not the “Hypebeast” 2017 vibe though). I really hated the times when the brand was super mainstream with people rocking it that had zero knowledge about the brand. I love the culture, backstories etc. Of the brand, it is so much more than the Hype If you really know something about it. Unfortunately many people just know it for the hype, but I really dont care, supreme was never there to be liked by everyone. Edit: since I’m here in Germany, preme was never too mainstream mainstream because it was harder to get. Here it is nowadays mostly about “German Streetwear brands” which are mostly trend based, everything is looking (more or less) the same but its “hyped” because its limited. (Some were started by KZfaqrs and the only story is “from KZfaqr to designer”, but no actual culture behind it)

So m ore or less hypebeast fashion is ever changing because the people who get in late Aka the masses are in it but also don’t know how to dress and never really did so everyone thinks streetwear & hype stuff looks stupid simply because the people they see wearing it most couldn’t style Walmart clothes let alone supreme or even higher fashion

These are all hip hop derivative looks, and you should look to history for guidance. Supreme been played out. Stick to variations on classic styles. There is a way to do this all the time. I keep seeing styles I keep in my closet on the rise. predict the look and bring a variety of personal flavors.

Gonna rub many the wrong way, but I am so tired of seeing Stussy and Samba fits. We’re gonna see many bag holders when Stussy phases out. I learned from buying too much Kith way back in the day and have not bought any Stussy as a result. No logo designer pieces are the move
@WhatsTheHype.Landon

If people really like streetwear then I doubt too many will regret buying Stussy once the current hype dies down a bit. Sambas are similar too in my opinion.
@MIAHEAT_1
@MIAHEAT_1 Жыл бұрын
@@WhatsTheHype.Landon Hmm I would disagree bro. I do think the ones who truly like the BRAND itself and have worn it before the hype, won’t mind when Stussy dies down. However, the people just into streetwear in general as you mentioned, will just move onto the next brand/trend. Sambas more of a classic w/ longevity so I do agree there
