How is it I'm only discovering The Units in 2024?!? This is awesome!

Thank you sooo much for putting this on KZfaq. The Units were one of my favorite bands from the early 80's. I first encountered them in a show they did at Club Foot in Austin, TX, probably in about 1981. They seemed to put it all together the way I was imagining it could be done in those days: all-electronic, slightly unusual melody/harmony, danceable, with a hard edge, and in their live shows, visuals playing in the background in the form of some kind of film collage. Wow! Worth remembering and appreciating. I find it interesting that there were comments at the time about how this would lead to new forms of rock bands that didn't include guitars. Unfortunately, that trend didn't last long, did it?

It's good that you shared this here. They weren't Depeche Mode but they were a good band and this is a fine album. One of the more interesting and lasting artifacts of its time.

I've found so many good albums on youtube. this is one of them. The problem is that most of this stuff like Scars, Blitz, Flue, Asylum Party etc. is extremely expensive to buy on cd. Even if its second hand cd's. I'm talking 200-300 euros! So its so good to sit one evening and listen to old postpunk, new wave and goth records :-)

FDH Records is putting out/reissuing the the bestl synth punk that matters The Units first single included, hands down no mainstream over-produced boring shit.

I’ve been a Units fan since I saw them open for OMD in 1982. I’ve really been listening to them quite a bit lately have have bought everything I can find on iTunes. I’m looking for A New Way To Move but can’t find it anywhere, I guess it’s only available on LP. By the way, Scott Ryser is a genius!! 👍
