Edit: Another scenario would be where they all expect him to be immortal, which makes them think that because of that he will now die, so he surprises them all by reviving.

He has nigh immortality. He can die in a planet explosion that happened by cause of being or natural thing that do not capable of thinking about his existence. As long as everyone knows him die along with him due to that cause at the same time, he will be permanently death.
