For the fifth year in a row Dindim the penguin emerges onto the Brazilian coast into the arms of the man who saved his life. The unlikely friendship between Dindim and Brazilian pensioner Joao Pereira de Souza started in 2011.

animals returning to their savior like this always intrigue me. How do they know the location of the person? unless of course he brought it there and then sent it off starting from the beach. Even when it memorized the way, how does the man know the penguin is present at the location and vice versa?

I've read a more detailed version of his story elsewhere. The old man, who is a fisherman, lives right on the beach, and the penguin spent many months recovering at the man's house. It migrates seasonally, spending several months of the year living with him at his house. This has been going on for several years now.
