So I played hockey for 22 years in minors and juniors. during all those years, I have went to the finals in 10 different tourneys. I have never won. Like statistically that is insane. Teammates called me "2nd place Sam". But I mean, at least I got my health other than the usual stuff players deal with at 35+.

Ollie Jokinen played 1231 regular season games over a 16 year career, but only made the playoffs once, losing the 1st round. During the 2014-15 season he was playing with the Nashville Predators who were heading towards the playoffs, but the Predators traded him to the Leafs just a few weeks before the trade deadline so Jokinen would miss the playoffs again. Unfortunately he's also remembered for almost killing his teammate Richard Zednik when his skate slashed him in the neck. So yeah, Jokinen was pretty unlucky
@estellegrignon
@estellegrignon Жыл бұрын
In one of those playoffs-less seasons, he was with the Rangers, who needed to win in a shootout against Philly on the last game of the year to clinched. As it turns out, Jokinen was sent to shoot, but couldn't score. The Flyers eventually won the game and the playoffs spot, then had a cinderella run all the way to the Finals 🥲

There is only one venomous snake species in Finland and of course Sami Salo managed to get bitten by one, but its not that dangerous if treatment is given fast and the anti-venom is very commonly available so he was not really in that big of danger. The more interesting thing is that he quite often got injured doing something else than hockey on his free time.

Tom House was a relief pitcher for the Texas Rangers. Like all relievers he hung out during games in the Bullpen. In the old-old Rangers home park the Bullpen was adjacent to the stands running parallel to the seats along the 1st Base side of the field. One day Tom had a friend sitting s few rows up behind the Bullpen. Just for fun, he decided to start flicking sunflower seeds at his friend who was about 20 feet away. After an inning or so of doing this House felt tightness in his elbow and ended up on the 60Day IR. True story.

You're damn right injuries can linger.
