To create that final collective effect on nine models in three hours looks like witchery but really it's just having the mastery to visualise the effects on the models ahead of time, in order to create and then impliment a true master's cohesive plan. The plan to use the behaviour of the paint to work for you instead of struggling to overcome it. The cold flesh is beautifully realised, gorgeous (and stolen for both my vampire hunter vampires and fallout subterranean mutants, around 400 figures in all so about a year saved...) but it's an artistry of planning, rather than hours of feathering and blending, an artistry of the mind not the brush. That leather finish.. you could tell Marco even impressed himself! (again, stolen), casually whipping up what was effectively a contrast paint but tailoring not just the pigment and opacity, but also regulating the gloss and finish. The followup texturing and weathering, all explained as he went so we can begin just following but then experiment ourselves. Bloody marvellous. Art quality busts and the far reaches of extraordinary talent are great to look at, and I really enjoy watching vids of superb brushwork. BUT, army painting, boxed game painting is crying out for, has been crying out for this level of intelligence and material skills. One unit in three hours (becomes five for me) translates to forty or fifty painting hours for a tabletop army or a full board/tabletop game - and to approach this quality for a whole one?? In a timeframe that wouldn't be a fitting punishment for violent crime??? Please hit the like button - they only let me do it once

i really dont like the miniature sculpts.... but man once again your magical paint job forces me to buy these. Like some jedi mind tricks... :D excellent finish and really stong visual story telling... aint got any candy words left to try to subscribe your work as an artist! you got me back to painting miniatures... its so much more fun and feels so much more natural to try things out instead of sticking to flat color, wash, edge highlight. thanks alot!

Hey on the next one of these, could you something with purple/lavender skin? I'm getting ready to do a project with some Legion of Everblight from Privateer Press and I'm curious how you would do it. This is super close to what I was thinking, just more blue skin than purple, so I could probably just adjust the colors you used for my project.

Superb. For me, these war cry videos are my favourites. I have a huge box of Hate minis that will benefit from this. Sooooo much leather, armour, details that are difficult to speed paint. Almost too much detail. Is scares me 😨 Question. For the red, would blood for the blood god do a similar trick? I can't get the tamiya paint so need to look at alternatives. Keep up the great work!! Would love to see more Godtear gangs being painted.

Sure! I have a 5 liters tank of 99% Iso that I use in various dilutions for any kind of work from dilution to 3D printing. Here I used it pure!

Where can I buy the small bowls for mixing colors? Didn't find anything that size and shape. Also, with the new warbands for Daughters of Khaine, it would be nice to have a video about painting them. Especially as I have a whole army to do :)

The paint trays/wells come from companies like Tamiya, MrHobby, UStar, (now also AK Interactive has its own ak-interactive.com/product/modeling-paint-wells/ ). You can find them in any model shop or with better prices on eBay (sadly I still don't have a stable and safe link to share); my stash is a souvenir from Korea 😅

Grazie mille! Sì uso spesso i Molotow come primer colorati; sono acrilici a base d'acqua, ma fatti per street art e murales quindi parecchio resistenti. I tubetti sono ricariche per pennarelli e pennelli a serbatoio!

Hey Marco, nice video once again ! Although everytime I try to Oil wash my miniatures, the part where I remove the excess with a Q-tip and white spirit always remove some layers of acrylic off my miniature, any idea why ?

I have the same problems when using white ink as the base layer, dunno if im dilluting the ink to much or something. I think i have a gentle touch with the qtip but dunno. Now i usually put a layer of varnish before the oils, i get so sad when i when it all goes south. Anyway great video as always, one of my weekly youtube highlights for sure

I have the same problem sometimes! Also with the white ink as ROD S said. Been varnishing after the white ink and it seems to help. Not sure how Marco does it, haha!

Possibly rubbing too hard with the q-tip. It may seem that Marco scrubs the hell out of the model, but he has said (an earlier vid) that it is a delicate process...

That Tamiya Clear Red over the metallics.... wow! Do you think it would have a similar effect if it were painted over a yellow tone metallic, like gold or bronze? I'm thinking either iteration would look great on some Khorne miniatures. Great job as always!

I tried these models and I hated them too much. There is always another little thingy dangling around and nearly breaking. And I tried to paint all the parts of the clothes in different colors to mimic that they made them from the skin of all the races in the Warhammer Uinverse. The problem is they ended up looking like clowns.

Thanks man! No, somehow I didn't record that part, but it was a super straight forward process; I washed the skull with red ink and painted a couple of simple layers adding more and more yellow!

Your videos are so informative and useful, you're doing a seriously great service. It seems like you have loads of different brands and types of paint, which allow you to really pick the right tool for each job. I imagine this is a significant investment that took you a while to accumulate. Do you have any essential or "game changing" products that you would reccomend for someone who mostly has GW paints and has just started dabbling in oils (that's me)?

It seems that in almost every video Marco uses Molotow One4All for priming, Liquitex (or Daler Rowney) inks, and a variety of oil paints. Of course there are more and Marco will likely weigh in on this; but that's been my main observation (and purchases!) having watched all of his videos :)

Trent is on the right track! I think inks are my real game changer. The full use of oils needs a certain level of commitment and change of perspective that not everyone is willing to accept (or you can use a couple of tones for simple shortcuts that don't change the whole picture). Similar thing for Molotow paints, super useful for a professional painter but at the end still acrylic painting. Inks, especially used with an airbrush can really change your way of painting with a minimal investment and training!
