Marty McFly is one of the most iconic sci-fi characters of the '80s, and he made Michael J. Fox into a bona fide movie star. He was cool without trying, spontaneously witty, and he knew how to play a mean guitar and work a skateboard.
Who doesn’t love a character who is easy on the eyes, charismatic, and who takes on bullies even when outnumbered? The character has aged well over the years and is a big reason why the Back to the Future trilogy is still one of the most beloved sci-fi trilogies of all time.
If you can get enough of everything Marty McFly, here is the untold truth of one of sci-fi's most timeless characters.

Michael J. Fox didn’t just suddenly become available for the role. He worked his butt off working Family Ties in the day and BTTF at night and on Saturdays. He got very little sleep during this time. He once told a story that he was trying to find Marty’s video camera on set and was so frustrated until he realized he was on the set of Family Ties. He was so tired he didn’t even know what set he was on.

That’s still “becoming available”. He had to turn it down originally, because they wouldn’t let him have any time off, or change his schedule, from Family Ties. Had he just decided to do it that way when they said no, they would have saved a lot of time & avoided Eric Stoltz all together.

@@nikki9125 it was different. MJF was never asked directly to do the part. The filmmakers asked the producer of "Family Ties" and he didn't even tell MJF about it, just told the filmmakers that Fox isn't free and that was it. When they approached the serie's producer a second time a few months later and begged even more, he finally gave his ok, as long as the series stays Fox's priotity. Then he told MJF about all this and gave him the script to read.

It's a Paradox as Dr Brown meets Marty in 1955, retapes the letter after Marty comes back from the alternative 1985 and later in life seeks him out. He wasn't afraid of the car hitting them at 88 or the terrorist shooting him, as he knew what would happen Well that's my simple solution 🤣

You know what would have been cool?! You know how Martys Dad becomes a best selling scifi writer? Even though George would not have remembered 1950s Marty enough to put 2 and 2 together, but maybe a photo taken at the Enchantment under the Sea dance in their yearbook has Marty in the background, and George sees enough of a resemblance to think "hey! This would be a great plot for my next book! what if that WAS my son time traveling?!" Of course, he wouldn't ACTUALLY BELIEVE that WAS Marty in the 1950s (just a look-a-like) but it could have inadvertently inspired George McFly to WRITE BACK TO THE FUTURE! He'd be totally clueless though that what he wrote was ACTUALLY WHAT HAPPENED! and it could have been a really cool paradox mind f**k type movie. Like you'd realize, "wait, is this just a movie about George McFly's sci-fi book about time travel?! Or did it ACTUALLY happen?! Is it reality or fiction?!💡

The theory I came up with for how Doc and Marty became buddies was that Doc was a teacher of science at the high school but was fired for secretly performing time travel tests and nearly destroying the school, Strickland then fires Doc and since he was Marty’s favourite teacher he offers to be his assistant as a freelance documenter of his experiments thus setting up the storyline of the first movie and giving a backstory to Marty using his camera to document the first time travel of the DeLorean

Makes no sense bc Marty had no idea of the time machine till we first see it in the pine mall car park
@alvexok5523
@alvexok5523 10 ай бұрын
@@austinmcwhirter8410 The parking lot of Twin Pine Mall early in Bttf 1 was the first time Marty saw that Doc made a time machine out of a DeLorean, but Marty already knew that Doc had been trying to put together some way to travel through time. He just didn't tell Marty til the night at the mall because he was tied up with alot of confusion and experimentation with different ways to construct a time machine, and then all the work it took with him constructing it with the DeLorean. And also, Doc had been working on other experiments such as those clocks we see at the start of the movie. Basically, in the mind of a very busy and experimenting scientist, Doc was just too tied up to be able to and to have time to tell Marty what he was going to do when he still didn't know how he was going to build his time machine. Then Doc made his final decision on using the DeLorean for his time machine about a week before that night at the mall. But then throughout that week he was way too busy to talk to Marty while he pieced together the time travel gadgets with the DeLorean, the flux capacitor, and arranging to get plutonium from those Lybians. With him being so busy with all of that all week, Doc thought it'd be easier just to tell Marty he was out of town all week because he couldn't handle any interruptions until he was finished, which he finally was that night in the mall parking lot. So like I said, Marty already knew that Doc was trying to make a time machine. But for the above mentioned reasons, Marty just didn't know it was a DeLorean until that night at the mall, which was why he asked "Wait a minute Doc, you telling me you built a time machine, out of a DeLorean??". He stressed the "out of DeLorean" part, meaning he already knew there may be a time machine but just didn't know it was going to be a DeLorean. And that exchange came after Doc sent Einstein one minute into the future since a couple minutes earlier Marty still wasn't sure that the DeLorean was actually the time machine that Doc had previously been wanting to make, which is why Marty said to Doc "You disintegrated Einstein!!". This is all why I think that the theory on Marty first knowing Doc as a science teacher at school does makes sense to me.

I am so grateful to be alive today. My girlfriend saved my life last night. This is a selfie I took in the emergency room after having a severe allergic reaction to almonds. I went into anaphylaxis, meaning my face, my lips, my eyes, my tongue, and my throat all started swelling up rapidly, making it almost impossible for me to breathe. I also had a rash all over my entire body, and I was extremely red. Staying alive had never felt more difficult. At one point, my nasal passage was completely blocked, and it was getting more and more difficult to breathe. They shot me up with Benadryl, steroids, they gave me a breathing tube, and even other stuff that I can’t even remember, and it caused all of the swelling and the rash to go away. Because this was a severe allergic reaction, I need to continue taking steroids and Benadryl for the next week, because it is possible that the allergic reactions could come back at any point over the next week. The steroids and Benadryl make me feel like a zombie, and I really want to take care of my health, so this will be my main focus over the next week. I want to thank my amazing girlfriend, who made the decision to take me to the emergency room the second I started feeling itchy. I was hesitant about going, because I didn’t even want to believe this was actually happening. If it weren’t for my girlfriend driving me to the emergency room only minutes after eating the almonds, there is a good chance that I wouldn’t have made it according to the doctor. This has been without a doubt the hardest few days of my life, but I also look at them as the most important few days of my life. These moments have reminded me about what’s really important in life, and it has made me so grateful to even be here on this earth. I will be prioritizing my health over the next week, and I’ll post updates about how I feel. Thank you all for being patient during these difficult times. This week has been NUTS (too soon for jokes? 😅)

Chuck Berry didn't invent Rock 'n' Roll. Chuck Berry didn't hit the scene until 1955 - but the first Rock 'n' Roll song, depending on which historian you ask, was either Fats Domino's "The Fat Man" released in 1950 or Ike Turner's "Rocket 88" released in 1951. Besides the music that became known as "Rock 'n' Roll" was originally called Rhythm & Blues and was rechristened "Rock 'n' Roll" by Cleveland dee-jay, Alan Freed in 1951. Every Rhythm & Blues song released after 1951 was a Rock 'n' Roll song. Chuck Berry wasn't even the first Rocker to have a #1 hit. That honor would fall to Bill Haley & the Comets and their classic "Rock Around the Clock." Chuck Berry gets the distinction of being Rock 'n' Roll's first singer/songwriter and also its first guitar god.

Jennifer from BTTF I was so much hotter than Elizabeth Shue's Jennifer. Was such a shame she wasn't in the rest of the series nor became a movie star

5:30 You propagated a common myth. If you watch the Chuck Berry sequence, you'll see that Marvin is too late holding up the phone. By the time he has Chuck listen, Marty has moved on from Johnny B. Goode classic riffs to the wild and ripping solos of the future. It's certain that just sounded like noise to Chuck over the phone and he probably wondered how much of that refer Marvin had been smoking lately.

Still confused why his great grandmother in BTTF3 looked like his mother. She didn't marry into the family until after 1955. So...

@@aarongreenfield9038 True, but George and Lorraine are from separate families and met in 1955. So i was always confused why in the old west anyone on the McFly side would look like her. Unless there is some sort of cousin lovin' with George and Lorraine. :O

@@CaturdayNite. There was definitely a lot of incest going on in those times, but I think it was just a matter of them wanting to use the same actress, Plot holes and all. I mean look how McFly in back to the future 2 Went to the future and saw his older self, wouldn't he of been missing. Yes yes, I know zemeckis said it was an alternate reality, but if that was the case, why would affecting alternate realities have any effect on the other alternate realities, and so on and so forth. And when they go back to their reality, nothing would have changed according to that logic.

@@aarongreenfield9038 Yep, they wanted her in it. It is just crazy that i have held on to that for...what, almost 30 years now? Always in my mind when watching it. But pretty much every movie has some little hole, some "wait, huh?" In there.

nope, it will not...because thankfully, “the Bobs” (Gale & Zemeckis) both agreed to *NEVER* let it be touched. no remakes, no reboots, no more sequels. I believe they are both on record to having their kids agree to it also, for when they are both decease.

It won't be ruined ... It is quite interesting. As you can see from the topics in the video description, there are only a few questions answered (when did they first meet, etc.). - Nothing that would _ruin_ my favourite film.
